I was leaning against the headboard of the bed, reading a book called Ghost: Retelling the Phantom of the Opera.
It was a guilty pleasure of mine to read fanfictions about my favorite musical, and I always made sure to hide it from Ramin so he wouldn't tease me.
I had just reached the part where Erik revealed that Raoul was the one who had given him his deformation, and I could feel my heart silently breaking at his pain.
All I wanted was to help the poor soul, but since he was fictional, I could do no such thing, and it hurt me quite a bit.
As if he heard my thoughts, the door opened up in front of me, and Ramin stepped in.
"Hey," he greeted softly. "What're you doing in here by yourself?"
"Oh, hi!" I exclaimed while closing the book quickly. "I'm just reading."
He shut the door behind him and laid down beside me.
"You are such a bookworm," he smiled. "I love it."
"Thanks," I muttered with a blush.
Ramin then sat up and looked at the book.
"What's the story about?" he asked curiously.
I bit my lip and hesitated.
"Promise you won't tease me?" I whispered.
He furrowed his brows at my request and said, "I would never do such a thing, Ave. You have my word."
My lips twitched with a small smile, and I took a deep breath.
"It's a Phantom of the Opera fanfic," I replied. "I've been reading these things for quite a while now."
Ramin put a hand to his heart with a touched expression on his handsome face.
"Aw, that's so sweet," he sighed. "You're always reading about your Phantom."
I snorted.
"Maybe I have other Phantoms that I like to think about and you just don't know it."
"Oh really?" he raised his eyebrow. "I'm sure I could change your mind."
"Right," I nodded, unconvinced. "Keep telling yourself that."
He smirked and wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer into his side.
"What if I read Erik's parts in my 'Phantom' voice?" he asked, his tone incredibly attractive. "Then you really wouldn't be able to think of anyone else but me."
I would've said something sarcastic back, but all my remarks failed me when he leaned down and kissed my nose, letting his soft lips linger on my skin.
"Do what you wish," I replied instead, releasing a shaky breath.
Ramin smiled triumphantly and kissed my forehead.
"Now, where should I start?"
I opened the book for him to look at, and he nodded as he read along the page.
"This is going to be fun, my Angel," he whispered in my ear.
I blushed and hid my face in his neck, somewhat squealing inwardly.
