.....
On April 20, 1914, the tents of the wives and children of striking miners were covered with gasoline.......
And a match was lit.
Dozens of women and children burned alive while others were gunned down as they attempted to flee.
Earlier, the miners hid around 13 children and a pregnant woman in a small cave.
All of them were killed.
In December of 1913, 73 men, women, and children were trampled to death when someone falsely shouted "fire!" At a crowded Christmas party.
These are just two of the dozens of tragedies marking the struggle for better hours, better pay, and better working conditions.
Why were the cops and militia able to get away with this?
Why were these people killed?
I only learned about the Ludlow Massacre when I started reading Labor's Untold Story for a homeschooling program.
More people need to know about these tragedies.
For their sake.
Those who died do not deserve to be forgotten.
May they all Rest In Peace.
