I grew up in Chicago before moving to Nevada. I'm the mother of an adult daughter. Our home is usually a fur-filled mess. We are animal lovers and nearly all of our pets are shelter pets or found animals. Currently, we have our own little herd. Our mountain lion of a cat, Boomer (seriously, he's a big boy. 16lbs and it's not fat, he's part Main Coon) and our Chihuahua, Daisy. 

Boomer came from a friend of a friend who's sister suddenly decided she couldn't take care of him (then decided she could before I could fetch him, then decided again she couldn't handle it.) He was scared and angry, he'd lived in three different houses by the time he was a year and a half old, four if you count chilling at the woman's brother's house every time she gave him up. We finally took him and he's settled in and is much happier. Though, she never had him declawed and didn't bother to teach him not to destroy things.

I found Daisy wandering the streets, well technically myself and a coworker found her one night when I was giving him a ride home from work. No one came forward to claim her so I decided to keep her since his son is allergic to dogs. She's a tiny little bundle of love who wants to be beside someone at all times and sleeps curled against my back underneath the covers. 

Writing is a huge part of my life, but it hasn't always been. I didn't actually begin writing until late 2009- early 2010 when I was laid off from my job during the recession. While applying for jobs, I grew bored sitting at home. There was this little scene running through my head that refused to go away. One day I sat down at the computer and started writing, beginning with that scene. Within a few months, I'd written book one of my Chosen series. That first draft was nothing compared to what was finally published, it went through a lot of revisions, but if it wasn't for my boredom during that time period I wouldn't have tried my hand at writing.

I've always been a reader and that has helped me improve my writing a lot. I love reading and so does my daughter. It's something we enjoy doing together. We enjoy writing together as well and I'm glad we can share both those things. 

Around 2012 I decided I wanted to be able to design my own covers since it can get expensive to have a professional create a cover for you so I began learning as much as I could about graphic design. I now design professionally as Dark Angel Graphics and I'm a contracted designer with Creative James Media, a small publishing house out of Maryland. 

I love writing and designing, they allow me to be creative in different ways.
