Criticism

Not everyone is happy when their story is being critiqued. But let me tell you this; criticism is what helps the author improve.

There are two types of criticism(according to me of course haha). Constructive criticism and Destructive criticism.

Constructive criticism is the postive one. It gives the author a chance to think about his work. The facts, insights or encouragements he receives gives him the will and strength to continue his pursuit in being a better writer. Think about this, you poured your strength on writing a chapter. You reread it for the nth time and still you found it lacking or its just don't feel right, its frustrating you. Somehow you knew there is something wrong with the chapter yet you still posted it. Afterwards, you receive an idea from your reader and click! You get awesome ideas for your next chapter.

Guys, no writer is an island. Of course all the ideas do come from his awesome mind. But still, an author has to learn from the other author. A writer always had to read other books to get a better picture about characterizing(wut), world building and of course the art and style of word/paragraph building.

Now, constructive criticism usually point out your mistakes. However, that type if criticism includes suggestions, choices and even better idea. Trust me, this doesn't hurt a writer's ego. Instead, it encourages him to be a better version of himself.

Now, destructive criticism comes.

Dear readers, please if you don't like a certain story, please refrain from dropping rude and degrading comments. You don't know what the writer has to go through just to write a story. One rude comment could mean the end of another brilliant mind. It takes all the courage just click that "publish" button only to be criticised by this narrow minded readers who had a very high standards when it comes to novel writing. People, not everyone is capable of expressing their thoughts in just a single paragraph, especially for those non-english speaking authors, who are trying to write despite their limited english words.

If you don't like the stories, then you are free to leave. No one told you to keep reading anyway. If you cannot help the writer then don't dull his spark. Your words could mean destruction of his dreams, hopes and goals in life.

You might say "why do you care? I'll say what I want to say. This is freedom of expression." Yes, its your freedom but it does not mean you have to be rude. Don't you think, we, writers dont deserve freedom too?

Readers, authors, writers, poets, and the likes; let us support one another. No hate, just love.

#FreeYourMind
