The "Mr. Darcy Fantasy"

I noticed that YA authors turn what is known as the "Mr. Darcy Fantasy" as being "an attractive rich guy is a complete and total jerk but has the hots for the girl he's an even bigger jerk to but it's okay because he's in looove with her" but no? That isn't it??

The "Mr. Darcy Fantasy" should be "introverted guy is willing to get out of his comfort zone just to get to know the girl he likes better".

It should be "guy is willing to do a self-reflection and admit his mistakes after being confronted about them".

It should be "guy values and respects the opinions of his crush and wants to hear more of what she has to say".

It should be "guy doesn't try to force himself on to his crush because he realizes that she doesn't return his affections and respects that".

It should be "guy takes valid criticism to heart and tries to improve his ways".

It should be "guy goes out of his way to help the girl he likes in her time of need but doesn't want her to know that it was him because what he did wasn't about making himself look good, but making her life better".

That's what the "Mr. Darcy Fantasy" should be portrayed as.
