4# how to be successful on wattpad: promotion
Basically Medicine killed me and Anna resurrected me. i will never get over how Medicine isn't even on the album.
Ello Ello Ello my lovelies
I hope y'all are having a wonderful day or night, and are ready for some promotion tips. So what I'm gonna explain here is what I did in particular that helped me gain a lot of readers, and also just my advice on the whole promotion thing in general.
Please know that these are just tips, one or two which I've done myself and has worked for me but may not work for everybody, there's just no guarantee that everyone will become big just doing this. It's a combination of this and the other stuff I said like making your book stand out. At the end of the day,
❃❃❃
1. Reading requests
- Now this honestly is something I sorta dislike as of this moment. I don't like it when people ask me to read their books. Like I just don't.
Ironic because I myself used to ask other people to read my books. But you see, at the time I was a small writer and I needed feedback on my writing and just comments in general. I always asked other writers who're LIKE ME, small and in need of readers.
So if you decide to use this 'tip' for promotion, promoting your own works by asking people like yourself to read is a good way. But remember, it's best if you also read that person's book in return because then, psychologically and generally, they'll do it. Now, if you have complete faith in your story in terms of how amazing the plot and the writing is, then you shouldn't worry about them not sticking around after reading a chapter or two.
- I know it may not feel authentic when you ask them to read your book, and they're just doing it because you've asked them. But remember, no ones forcing them. You've just asked them, so if your story is really good then chances are the person will stick around longer.
Ultimately the reading request is only telling the other person to check out your book, not keep reading until it's finished.
- ALSO when you do this, I honestly prefer it when people PM and ask like "hey I hope you're having a lovely day, I was just wondering if you'd check my harry fanfic out!" Or something like that. I don't like it when people are like on my message board "hey read my fanfic"
Like yeah no.
Always be nice!
2. Make friends!
This is dumbass name for the second point but whatever. When you interact with a lot of people and make friends, some are very likely to check out your works! Same goes for if you read other people's works that are in the same boat as you, support them by reading their books, commenting and voting and once again they'll probably (hopefully) do the same for you.
Obviously don't befriend people and big authors in particular just so they read your books lmao. Just make friends in general when you come on wattpad, it will in turn help you gain reads is all.
3. DO NOT promote your story on other stories
I've actually seen someone do this and it's honestly just disrespectful and dumb.
PLs don't go commenting on stories similar to yours:
" Oh this story is great, if you want to read something similar, check out my story The Boy Who Popped My Cherry."
Just don't.
4. FOLLOW the advice I gave in the chapters about the Set Up
The only thing that will go hand in hand with your promoting techniques, is the fact that your book is attractive. Attractive and appealing in ever way possible, right from the cover to the mini description, to the actual writing and plot. You may promote your book well, but you'll only get reads and comments if your book is good. If you want more advice on that, just scroll back to the other "how to be successful on wattpad" chapters and check it out :)
- catchy book title
- intriguing but short description of the story, enough to lure the reader in.
- bomb-ass, eye-catching cover.
- good grammar/writing
- lastly, a good plot.
These are what will lure your readers in and keep them from exiting the book once you've done your promo :)
❃❃❃
I think that's about it. Remember don't come at me if it doesn't work out.
If there's anything else you'd like advice on, please let me know! What else would you like to read about and have some tips on, in this series. Please comment!
I'm trying to at least post on this book when I'm too busy to write for Heavy Crown or True Colors. Like I'm trying to come up with more ideas for this series, and start a Fanfic Recommendations series as well.
It's been so crazy the last few weeks, and honestly speaking I never get busy enough to take a break from writing like this is on another level.
I'm going to try to update True Colors this week since I'm getting some time off school. FINGERS CROSSED❤️
That's all folks !!
