Tell me in the comments why advertising is bad. As much and detailed as possible, if you can.

I've grown up in this Internet society under the understanding that you shouldn't be advertising whatever at random places unless it's in your own profile (but even then, it could be offensive, depending on person and context) or at a place welcoming advertised content.

So that's why I tend to feel uncomfortable whenever someone just randomly advertises something on my message board, inbox, or wherever. I also tend to get mad whenever I see someone doing that in a post's comments or the like.

But now that some stupid "friend" is making me advertise his favorite idol all over the place, I don't know when and how exactly to explain to him that what he's doing is. wrong.

What he's doing is pming as many people as possible about said idol, as well as posting about the idol in public chatrooms and comments of posts. He's making me do the same, and even told me to hold a screening room (it's a feature in Amino where you can hold a public chatroom playing videos) when I suggested that being one of the best ways to spread word about the idol.

I could rant about this motherfucker all day, but then it'd get too personal, and I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable hearing it. So I'll just get to the point.

This "friend" is slowly blowing off my fuse. Sooner or later, I'm going to tell him I don't want to do his shit anymore, but I also want to precisely make him understand what he's doing wrong before I block him and cut off our ties.

Or, should I say: burn our ties.

So why am I telling you this? Since my reasons alone probably won't convince him (considering how he's a person who only knows how to use people), I was hoping to gather reasons from other sources on why people shouldn't be advertising like how the "friend" is doing.

Ofc, I don't want to be hypocritical, so I won't spam this message around. I'll just ask on a few personal-ish platforms, that's all. With no context, since there won't be enough room nor personalness for that (this profile is my only personal one that's not easily found by random passerby, after all)
