i cant rlly trust the news anymr? (rant)
So apparently 7News (most likely recently) reported a video on an acquaintance of mine?
Long story short, it was about this guy (dont rlly want to call him out bc privacy lol) who used to be addicted to crack and lonely until some people from the school's student council invited him to their lunch table and started treating him like an actual friend, causing the guy to grow happier and more confident in himself
Now im still surprised the news even went out of its way to report something like this (especially since we live in a state i like to call "the state where nothing interesting happens" and "the state nobody (the news) cares about"), but apparently they mustve found out about it bc of the fb post the guy's parents posted about it
But i feel slightly offended
Im probably just offended bc i was also one of the people those student council members reached out to, so im more directly involved, and bc im probably still in a sensitive phase
But by all means, i didnt deserve a spotlight anyway. Heck, im not exactly pleased with how the student council members are handling things this way, considering how they eventually barely flick any of a talking eye to the people they invited and then later discuss going to places with them as tho theyre suddenly best friends
Ofc, it wasnt intentional, im sure it wasnt. Its difficult to let everyone feel like they fit in, especially with enough people in the "friend group/lunch crew" to fill up three tables. Theyre kind to even let loners join their group in the first place. Its just that it simply irritates me a bit how they try to escalate things too fast and then carelessly let them de-escalate nearly just as fast
(If you dont get what i mean by that, let me be a bit more specific: one or two days after inviting us loners to the table, some of the members decided to arrange going to the movie theater that Saturday (yes, that upcoming Saturday) together. We could come if we wanted to, of course, but such an arrangement's way too fast. I get they wanted to simply build a relationship, and people like Hirahira Yeongi make me happy with how interested they get into making friendships, but... is arranging something like that literally a few days after meeting each other even proper? Theyre clearly not even that interested in me or even possibly in some of the other loners as well. It just feels like these people r trying too hard for nothing. They dont even look at me and greet me when i come to the table anymore. They just keep talking to each other and each other only, and rarely, one of them may turn their head to ask a brief (normally lame) question to one of us. The guy i was mentioning earlier is just lucky he's both interested and liked enough to have a better relationship with said members than the rest of us loners.
Ok, I said too much. Sorry if I sounded too ungrateful. I guess getting used to the feeling of actually having friends beforehand spoiled me, considering how back then, a few years back when I was still friendless, I would've been more than happy to be accepted (though I'd probably feel rejected by the eventual lack of attention at one point anyway).
To get back to part of the point. While the above contributed to me having a stronger emotion about it than i wouldve without ties with them, what really got me was how the setting showed for these kids eating together wasnt even the freakin school cafeteria. It was actually in some restaurant in our town, which looked nothing like any aspect of our school. Talk about fake.
I felt lied to, lol
I dont even know if some of the kids showed in the video were actually people who sat with us in the first place. If they were, they sat faaar from where the guy and I sat at.
The clips of them eating together honestly looked legit. But they weren't, weren't legit video clips from the actual cafeteria. It probably couldnt be helped, but it still felt like i was lied to in a way
Ig this is a normal news thing to do, take videos in random spots bc of the inconvenience of filming in the real legit setting. It was probably expected in the first place, and i accept that for movies retelling true stories, but i always took the news platform as trying to at least stay legit with setting so that people dont misunderstand how the scene(s) were like. Ig i was wrong
Now whatever your opinion(s) on this was, i recommend you dont attempt to search up the video i was mentioning. Sure, it'll be easier to know what i was talking about if u watch it, but it has some personal information. I'd find it creepy if you went through the trouble to not only find a video that reveals the full name of the lucky guy I mentioned, but also the state and school I go to.
Seriously.
Also dont get the wrong idea, im not that offended, just a bit offended. Im not a wussy, i swear (or at least i hope im not)
