chapter 16
Ash was relieved to see his house in the distance late that night. He did his best not to stumble and pass out then and there in his front garden. The night seemed endless. Being under Stefanis control was exhausting.
Since he was extremely sleep deprived, and not to mention extremely hungy, he moved a lot slower that he wanted to, and the sun was about to rise as he stepped towards the front door.
He forced himself to push open the door as he stumbled into the house. Bane and Nikita were asleep. He knew this because even from down stairs he could hear the sounds of there living hearts beating. They moved ever so slightly slower then normal when at rest.
He moved as best as he could to the kitchen. He needed blood, and fast. He was disappointed to find only a small portion of blood left in the bag, but thought it would have to do till morning. Suddenly he knew someone awoke in the house because of a change of the consistent sounds of heartbeats. Suddenly green smoke appered, and Bane followed, appearing from the smoke.
"How did it go?" Bane asked. Immediately sitting down at the kitchen table.
"Why are you not asleep?" Ash asked his friend, annoyed.
"Wasn't tried." Bane lied.
Truly Bane was a deep sleeper, but his worry for Ash had made it hard for him to truly lose all of his senses that night. He had heard Ash fumbling downstairs and wanted to make sure he was alright.
Ash shook his head, knowing good and well that Bane had been lying, although he wanted to save his friend the embarrassment.
Ash poored the blood into a cup before putting it in the microwave to heat. Bane looked at Ash curiously. Wondering just what he had been through.
"Well? Are you going to tell me or what?"
Ash thought back to much earlier that evening. Her back garden as elgent as she was. Qween Stefani was as breathtaking as ever, but he knew her dark soul all to well. He heated her very existence, but knew that without her he would've died long ago. Would've that been so bad? He was a sick child, and a even more sickly adult. Queen Stefani had turned him, not knowing his sickness would follow him even in the after life. After she found out that he couldn't feed like the rest of her nest, he was cased out. Banished from his new home, and family. God forbid that the qween created anything less then perfect.
"They are building a army." Ash stated. "Recruiting every last vampire, including me."
This took Bane by Suprised as concern filled his expression.
"The entire supernatural community is joining forces to wage war against the hunters. It's going to be a extermination." Ash said as he watched the blood filled cup spin around and around in the microwave.
"Work together? Not likely." Bane said.
"That was what the sire had called upon the vampire community for. She wanted to make sure everyone would behave. We are supposed to meet again tomorrow night." Ash finished.
"You better get your sleep then." Bane said as he stood from the table seat.
Ash let out a small laugh. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going to be apart of whatever ridiculous genocide they are plaining. The last thing I want to do is be under Stefanis control again."
Bane looked displeased, but only in the slightest. Ash found himself concerned.
"You don't actually want the war?" Ash asked. "Do you?"
"I don't have any objections to it, but I don't want you fighting for something you are not even apart of." Bane answered.
Bane didn't hold back his rage when it came to hunters. And he was very angered when Ash decided to bring one into his home, but knew that it would make his life much easier, so decided to let it go. However he wasn't displeased with the idea of no more hunters chasing after them.
"I won't. She made it clear long ago that she wanted nothing to do with me, I don't intend to go back and be a pawn in her war." Ash said truthfully. As much as he felt drawn to Stefani, he wouldn't let her use him, then dump him.. again..
BEEP BEEP BEEP. the sound of the microwave stopping rang through the halls of the old plantation house. Ash took the cup out and drunk down the blood like it was a shot of whiskey.
They both sat there, lost in there own thoughts before Bane broke the silence. "Why now? After all this time? why put there differences aside to fight them together?"
Ash let out a small breath that turned into slight ironic laughter. He shook his head at the irony of the question. He thought back to the night of the bank rubbery. When Nikita fell from the roof top like a long lost unanswered prayer.
He had brought her back to the house while she was still unconscious. When he had first came through the door with Nikita in his Arms Bane dropped his entire calacton of potion bottles. They exploded on the floor with a loud bang. At first glance she just looked like a badly injured girl, but Banes wekin senses told him otherwise. "Shes.. a hunter!!?" Bane asked Ash as he brought the limp girl upstairs.
"And the answer to all of my problems." Ash had answered.
"Whats so funny?" Bane asked snapping Ash Out of his thoughts.
"I started all of this, I created the war." He said glancing upstairs to where Nikita sleeped.
"What do you mean?" Bane asked. he thought that the stress of seeing his sire again must of been getting to Ash.
"The hunters have been looking for her." Ash said while pointing up stairs. "They have been searching every vampire nest they can find to find her." Ash ran his hand over his face in frustration before continuing. "The vampire leaders have had enough and are calling on other beings to help with fixing the problem once and for all. Don't you see? If Nikita wouldn't have gone missing, none of this would have happened."
