chapter 10

                     Nikita's POV

At first I was cautious with roaming the halls. My head pecked through each door way before entering, double and triple checking my surroundings. The house  itself had a older, elegant feel to it. Judging  by how this place was located in the middle of the woods, it had to be a old plantation house. Yet the furniture seemed rather newer. More in style and up to date with the times. Each hall had a different, vibrant color added to it. As well as art, if you could even call it that, hung on the walls.

The further I went along the faster I went. I was on my way to no where in particular, but for some reason, I walked faster and faster as if my destination was approaching.

The thought that the house was alive creeped me out to say the least. I made sure not to touch, or bump in to anything fearing that the floor itself would swallow me whole as punishment.  I reached the end of the hallways on this floor, and oddly found myself in a plan White room. Sitting behind a large medical type machine stood a tall dark haired figure. Ash.

"What are you doing here?" He asked in announce not looking up from his work.

"You said I was welcome to any part of the house?" I spoke defensively. "Plus, the rest of this place looks like a lady GAGA concert." I said pointing down the hall.

He suprisingly snorted at that as he lifted his eyes to Me. "Glade I'm not the only one who thinks so." He spoke.   "try to tell Bane that though" he finished more to himself then to me.

"What's the deal with you two anyway?" I asked as I pulled up a chair. I faced the fact that I would be here for awhile, at least until I can figure out something.. might as well learn all I could about my captors. "Vampires and warlocks don't mix well.." I stated factly. My knowledge on supernatural beings was endless due to my years of research. "Your livelihood, and egos for that matter are not sustainable to be together. You'd fight and kill each other just as fast as we'd hunt you." I finished.

He looked up from his work, obviously annoyed with me. "You think you know everything because your smart, don't you?" He  asked. Before I got a chance to respond he cut me off. "Well you don't, and your not." He Finished.

I brushed off his rude comment, only out of true curiosity to my question.

After a few moments he roughly set his papers on the table, turning his attention back to me. "I.. Bane.. Well he.." He scrambled for words, as if thinking of the best way to describe it. "I rasied him" he finally said as he got back to work.

"Raised him, as from like a child? How old are you exactly? Why wasn't he raised with the rest of his coven?" I blurted out my own thoughts into questions, before he stopped me.

"By God woman, can't you see I am working here?" He said pointing around the room.

A few bored minutes passed by and soon I begin to tap my hands on the arms rests of my chair. It didn't make a load noise, but with him it didn't Have to. Although it annoyed him, he let it go.  I smiled, the look on his face was quite amusing to me. Whatever he was working on seemed important, and he clearly didn't like me being here.

"Oh say can you see," I started to sing. if they were going to keep me here, I wouldn't make it easy for them.
"By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed,
At the twilight's last gleaming.."

He looked up at me horrified,  wondering what the hell I was doing. Hi

"No?" I  asked.

"No!" He demanded. He returned his focus back On his work.

His eyes flashed from papers on his desk, to a machine that he was working on. I wasn't exactly much of a mechanic. Sure i could change a tire, and oil on a truck, but i was pretty useless when it came to scientifical machinery. He looked  focused, so concentrated on his task. It was like the whole world zoned out around him.

 "Yankee Doodle went to town riding on a pony." I begin, knowing good and well he wouldn't like it. " He stuck a feather in his hat, and called it macaroni."

In one swift motion he stood up from his seat in a flash and loomed over me in my own chair. This suddenly wasn't such a good idea. "I swear, I'll bite you, it might kill me, but I'll sure die satisfied." He spoke. I gulped, backing up in my seat a bit. He let out a sharp breath before standing up straight again, creating the much needed space between us. "I understand that your bored, but can you take it elsewhere?" He asked. "There is a TV in the leaving room you know."

A few moments went by as I stood there in silence. He looked as if he were sure I would get up and leave, and I sure debated on doing so, but I realized I had no idea where I was, or how to get back so much to his surprise I just sat there. "One thing..." He spoke. "You can have one thing, or ask one more question.. But then you leave..or I'll make you leave.  Got it?"

I quickly nodded. I didn't expect anything out of my stunt. Certainly not this

"Well?" He demanded. "What's it going to be?"

I powdered on it for a moment. I surely wasn't going to waste this on a question, no. I needed something out of it. I could tell by the way he looked at me that Being released, or even going outside was definitely out of the question.  But what else was there? What else did I want?, needed?.. Vicki!!

"I want Bane to do a contacting spell. I need to talk to my sister." I stated firmly. No was not a option.

"Not going to happen." He said. "I dont need her running to your rescue."

I sighed. That was a nice thought. I could already see her, stake in hand with the rest of the hunters storming this place. Ash didn't seem like a stupid  person, and I didn't understand why I assumed he'd go for that. Wishful thinking.

"Just to let her know that I was alright?" I added. As much as I wanted saving, I also just wanted to hear her voice and let her know not to worry about me. "You said that you raised Bane, well I raised Vicki.. I just want her to know that I am alright." I said truthfully. My tone was more sincere then it had ever been.

He looked at me oddly as he thought it over. "Fine.. It will be a controlled conversation. Anything you try to say that might give away where we are, or who your with wont go through.." He warned. "But after this, not one question or interruption without my express permission!

"My work space," he said pointing around the room as if it were a Sanctuary, or Refuge. "Will be off limits.. You'll be on best Behavior or you'll be stuck into solitaire!"

I nodded, just now realizing how angry my disturbance made him.

                               ~~~
"Remind me why we are rewarding bad behavior?" Bane asked.
We were all now back in my 'room.'
"It's not rewarding, its compromise." Ash defended. "I don't see the harm in it anyway. Anything she says, you'll review before it's received. Kinda like a slight delay on live television." Ash explained to Bane.
"Whatever, let's just get this over with." Bane replied as he pulled out the same worn small blanket as he did when casting the healing spell. A odd feeling washed over me. I couldn't quite place it but it was there.
"She's your sister right? Like actual blood and not just the common term that overly girlish friends like to use?" He asked.
At first I didn't respond, but only because I was surprised he even spoke to me, and not just asked Ash. I could tell that Bane didn't like nor support Ash's decision to have me here, and it wasn't because he was a nice guy. No. Quite the contrary. My very being annoyed him. I had to say the feeling was more then Mutual.
"Yes, she's my blood sister. We both shared the same parents.. But I don't see how that... OWWE!" I yelled as he slit a blade across my hand.
"Blood to blood." Bane said to Ash as he grabbed a tin bowl and put my hand over it. My stomach turned as I watched my own blood fall.
"Calling on relatives, pacifically siblings or parents it's the easiest." Ash spoke. " If she were not related to you this spell would be a lot more complicated."
Bane smiled. "It would involve small children" he said.
I gasped. Not sure if that were actually the case, but he sounded pretty convincing.
With a fair amount of my blood now in the tin bowl, Bane took it away and placed it on my bedside table. Ash grabbed a cloth, and began rapping my hand, as Bane begin to chant.
