Getting Help
*5 weeks later, May*
Margaret woke up screaming and bolts up right in bed. Charles shoots up too and quickly pulled Margaret into his arms.
"Hey it's okay." He said as he rocks her gently.
Margaret holds him tightly and sobs.
It's been five weeks since Margaret has been shot. Her wound has healed but her mental wound was split right open. Her sling was gone and she had been cleared by her doctor to resume her usual activities.
The nightmares of that day started three weeks ago and they were a constant thing now. Also, she was feeling afraid and depressed. Her fear of leaving the house was also a problem.
"Charles..." Margaret sobbed. "I want this to stop! Why won't these dreams stop? I want to be normal again."
Charles sighs and said. "Honey, I know you don't want to hear of it, but, you should see someone. I know you don't want to. But maybe it'll help."
Margaret finally nodded in agreement. When Charles first brought up that Margaret should seek professional help, she had gotten upset. She didn't want to see a therapist. But now, she was open to it. She just wanted the nightmares to stop and for her to feel like a human being again.
A knock on the bedroom door caused Margaret to jump and shake more in fear.
"It's okay, honey." Charles said. "It's probably Isaiah or Hannah."
Hannah was spending the night for the weekend. It was Friday night and she was happy to be home close to her mother. She has been worried about Margaret since she found out about the nightmares.
"Come in." Charles called out.
The door opened and there was Hannah and Isaiah. Hannah was carrying Isaiah on her hip. Isaiah had a worried look on his face as he held onto Hannah tightly.
Margaret saw her children standing at the door and she knew then that getting help was the right thing to do. Isaiah too had been having a hard time seeing Margaret go through this. Even though he didn't know why his mother had changed so drastically.
Margaret took a deep breath and smiled a little. "I'm sorry you two." She said. "I had another bad dream. But I'm okay."
"Mommy, are you sure you are okay?" Isaiah asked nervously.
Margaret looked down for a moment to compose herself then she looked up at Isaiah again. "Yes, Isaiah. I'm okay. It was just another nightmare. But I promise I'm going to get some help so I won't have these nightmares anymore."
Hannah stepped more into the room and she and Isaiah comforted their mother for a while. Margaret held her babies and sent a silent prayer for the strength to get through this.
After a while, Isaiah fell asleep in Margaret's arms and she told Charles and Hannah that Isaiah could stay with her for the night.
Hannah kissed Margaret's cheek and said goodnight. She walked back to her room went back to bed. Before falling asleep she too sent up a prayer for her mother to get better.
Sorry for the short chapter.
Just wanted to post something as a filler. I wanted to do a time jump and may do another one because I feel this family has been through enough so I want to get them to a good place.
Although there will still some drama in future chapters.
Thank you for reading!
