Chapter 8 (edited)
Victor stood unmoving, shocked. "D-don't joke like that Yuuri," he stammered. "You scared me. It's not funny." He said.
Yuuri frowned. "I'm sorry, but I really don't know who you are," he held an apologetic look. "But if you need help finding anyone I can ask a nurse." He then brought his gaze to the baby in Victor's arms. "Are you looking for your wife?" He asked curiously, pain squeezed at Victor's heart making it hard to breathe. "Please, no...this can't be true." He went up to Yuuri and held Yuki in front of him. "This is your child, our child, don't you remember? Please hold him, he's been waiting to meet you for so long." Yuuri backed away. "Sorry I'm not good with children, and I don't plan on having any right now. I mean, I still need to find someone to start a life with." He said wearily. Victor shook his head, tears trailed down his cheeks. "You already started your life!" He yelled startling both Yuuri and his son. "This is your son, I'm your husband!" Victor trembled.
Yuuri looked frightened. "....why would I marry a man?" He asked quietly, Victor felt a sharp pain in his chest he drew Yuki close for he had begun crying. "I...I see..." he whispered and patted Yuki's back. "No..." he shook his head once again clearing any thoughts of giving up. "I'm going to make sure you remember Yuuri I promise." He stroked Yuki's hair. "Just know that this child will be affected by what you choose to do. So please, please make the right choice." He wiped away his tears.
Yuuri didn't know why, but it hurt to see the man crying, and the baby was crying too. It only made the ache in his chest worsen. "I really am sorry sir..I wish I could understand what you're saying, but it's so confusing." He groaned and held his head. "Yuuri are you okay?" Victor asked worriedly taking a cautious step forward. "Y-yeah I'm fine, but...can you please leave? I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude, but I'm exhausted. Can we talk some other time? Maybe you can help me regain my memories." He said in a tired voice.
Victor stayed silent then, he calmed Yuki down and turned for the door. "I'll make you remember everything." He mumbled and took hold of the door handle about to leave until Yuuri called to him. "What's your name?" He asked curiously, Victor swallowed the lump in his throat. "It's Victor." He replied. "And..." Yuuri paused before continuing. "And the baby?" Victor looked down at Yuki. "I want to keep it a surprise, I'd like to tell you once you remember enough. But I'll give you a hint," he peered over his shoulder giving Yuuri a glum smile. "It's part of your favorite season." With that, he was gone leaving Yuuri thinking.
Walking out the building visitors and passing nurses stared at him as he tried to calm his crying son, they gave them looks of sympathy and sorrow and averted his gaze. "I'm so sorry Yuki..." Victor whispered to his son. "Your mommy still loves you I promise...he just needs time to remember." He explained in a low soothing tone, Yuki eventually quieted his loud cries and leaned his head against Victor's chest his tiny hands grasping onto his shirt.
Surely Yuuri rejecting Yuki would harm him, when a parent, mostly the mother, rejects their baby the baby will not be able to form a bond with their mother and will most likely develop early depression. The thought of Yuki having to go through that was enough to make Victor choke up on his tears, but he refused to cry, at least not now.
When Victor arrived home he was met with Hiroko who was pacing back and forth in the living room, as soon as she laid her eyes on Victor a worried look was immediately plastered on her face. "Victor are you okay? How is Yuuri? Did everything go alright?" She asked many questions desperate to know if her son was okay, Victor looked at Hiroko, and finally broke.
His tears overflowed and he hugged Yuki close. "He doesn't remember me.." he said with a trembling voice. "He doesn't remember anything about me, and he didn't want to hold Yuki." Yuki buried his face in the crook of his father's neck, his lips trembling, quiet whimpers coming from him, he sounded hurt, and it hurt Victor so much to see his child in pain. "He lost his memories, but I'm sure that if you all go see him maybe he'll retrieve some memories." He explained in a low mumble.
Hiroko opened her arms out. "Come here, sweetie." She was offering him comfort, Victor immediately leaned down and Hiroko wrapped her arms around him and his son. "Everything is going to be alright sweetie I promise, I'll even scold Yuuri once he gets his memories back." She promised, Victor chuckled and sniffed. "Thank you so much," he wiped away his tears and comforted his son.
The trio stayed like that for a long while neither wanting to pull away, Hiroko was afraid that once she let Victor go then he would really break apart. "Where is everyone else?" Victor asked quietly. "We're taking a day off, so probably sleeping in," Hiroko replied. "Are you sure you're okay? Is there anything I can do for you?" She was so worried, so scared. "I'm fine, really." Yuki squirmed in Victor's arms trying to get himself comfortable, but with his father in deep emotional pain, it was hard to calm down.
Hiroko frowned still unsure as to what to do with Victor, was he really okay? What would happen if Yuuri never remembered him and Yuki? Everything felt so wrong and out of place, this was not what Hiroko wanted for her son and his husband, she wanted them to be happy with their new edition to the family, she wanted her grandson to grow up with two amazing father's. But now it was nothing but a wish, something she prayed and hoped for every night ever since Yuuri's disappearance. Hiroko sighed and patted Victor's back once more and slowly released him from the embrace. "I know you just woke up a while ago, but all this stress will not do you or Yuki any good."
She looked at the uncomfortable squirming infant in his father's arms his face scrunched up in pain. "Please..." she pleaded desperately and gently took hold of Victor's arm. "Take a good rest and I'll have a meal delivered to your room." She pulled him to his room and pushed him gently on the bed, Victor rubbed Yuki's back knowing that it would not be easy to put him back to sleep again, especially with Rosie gone. "Thank you, really I can't thank you enough." He was at the verge of tears again.
Hiroko smiled and gave him one last embrace. "Get some rest." She whispered to him, she then softly laughed as she looked down at her wide awake grandson she knew it was going to be a bit difficult to put Yuki back to sleep.
Though it didn't hurt to try, so as soon as Hiroko left Victor lied down and placed Yuki on his chest, Yuki huffed and whined refusing to lay his head down. "Yuki please, I know you're fussy and it's partly my fault," Victor started. "But I know it hurts..." he wiped away the leftover tears from his son's face. "Because I couldn't help you and your mommy." Victor's throat tightened, he swallowed thickly and blinked rapidly. "Oh, yeah it's definitely my fault you're moody." He quietly laughed and continued to soothe Yuki to drowsiness.
A long while passed, maybe a half hour before Yuki finally drifted off to sleep. Victor sighed and was debating on whether or not he should move Yuki because once his child is asleep if Victor's not careful transferring Yuki out of his arms then he'll wake him and Victor would have to start the process of soothing and patting his son to sleep all over again. Many times he patted his son to sleep on his chest, and then, he was too scared to wake him.
Not that lying with a sleeping baby on his chest was the worst thing in the world, in fact, it was one of the sweetest pleasures Victor ever tasted. An entire person curled up between his collar bone and stomach, covering and warming his heart, all the while breathing little bursts of perfect air onto his neck. It was a literal Heaven.
Victor smiled finally deciding to just leave Yuki on his chest, he couldn't pass up an amazing opportunity like this, being able to hold his son, he's only a baby once in his lifetime and Victor was going to enjoy every second of it, Victor held Yuki and allowed himself to fall asleep which wasn't very hard. He was emotionally drained, and somewhat physically exhausted, what with all the running and patting all the while trying to calm himself down. It was a crazy morning with a terrible wake-up call, Victor needed Yuuri to remember.
It was as if the Yuuri he once knew, was gone, all the way in oblivion, it made Victor want to cry till he couldn't anymore, but he was not going to let Yuuri go that easily. He was going to get him back no matter what it took even if it destroyed him.

As Victor slept he dreamt of happy memories, memories of him and Yuuri before Yuki was born. It was a time when Victor found out that Yuuri had an organ within himself that made him able to conceive children, and Yuuri had surprised him by telling him that they would soon have a child of their own.
Victor was surprised and happy he laughed as happy tears gushed from his eyes, he remembered kissing Yuuri and then kissing his stomach that held their child. After a couple of months, Yuuri's stomach had grown and his pregnancy was hidden from media, it was then that both he and Victor agreed to keep their child safe from the cameras, from the media and paparazzi, from any danger.
Victor had to deal with Yuuri's mood swings and unusual cravings, like one time when Yuuri ate a bowl of ice cream with pickles and peanut butter it made Victor want to throw up, but he still managed to get through it. That is until Yuuri decided to eat chocolate cake with potato chips and pickle slices altogether, now Victor couldn't deal with that.
But when Yuuri actually went into labor it was time for Victor to play the role of a father, when they arrived at the emergency room Victor remembered the doctor telling him that their baby, and even Yuuri, probably couldn't make it since it was nearly impossible for Yuuri to give actual birth to the baby, so they agreed to do a C-section.
Victor remembered crying and praying as he waited and watched as they began to operate on Yuuri, they at first denied access for Victor to enter during surgery, but seeing how desperate and afraid he was they made him put on scrubs and allowed him to enter just as long as he wasn't in the way. Hours passed the wait was torturing Victor, he was beginning to lose hope, but then the doctor performing the surgery let out a breath and pulled out a silent tiny infant.
At that moment Victor knew something was wrong, the baby wasn't crying. Victor's heart had dropped and he swore that at that moment he felt empty and numb. It was as if his life didn't have a meaning anymore. The doctor handed the infant over to a nurse and they did everything they could to get the baby to start breathing, Victor was brought back to reality remembering that he had read books about child deliveries.
He had begged to hold his child even if it wasn't breathing, even if he was terrified of holding the tiny baby, the nurses were hesitant, but when the doctor laid eyes on Victor he nodded. "He knows what to do." He had said with a glum smile, the nurse that held Victor's silent child pursed her lips and handed the infant over to Victor. In an instant, Victor patted his child's bare back.
It seemed like it was too late, the child in his arms already far gone, but then a miracle happened. The infant began to cry and it was music to Victor's ears, Victor began to cry himself and allowed the nurses to take his child to get cleaned up and checked. After that, they patched up Yuuri and weighed their child, six pounds, and so small.
And when Victor was able to hold his child again he promised that he would forever protect him. His son. His family.

When Victor woke up to the sound of Yuki whining and whimpering worried him, his eyes flew open and he carefully sat up cradling Yuki in his arms. "I'm awake love, I'm here." He reassured and stroked his hair back. "How long were we asleep?" He asked curiously and turned his head to look at the clock on the nightstand, on top was a tray of food.
Two hours, that's how long they were asleep. "Are you hungry?" Victor sat Yuki on his lap and grabbed a small bowl that contained porridge with milk. "You're so lucky to have an amazing grandma Yuki." Victor chuckled and fed his hungry son. "And soon you'll have an amazing mommy, I promise."

Loud heels clicked impatiently against the tiled floor, Angela walked briskly looking at the many room numbers and then back at the paper in her hand. "Ugh, where is it!?" She groaned and stopped in front of a huge window that showed a great view of the beautiful town, she could see Hasetsu tower from there.
She whined and pouted jutting out her bottom lip looking like a child who had been scolded. "Excuse me? Are you lost?" Someone asked from behind her, she sighed and turned around, her eyes instantly grew wide and her heart leaped to her throat.
There a frail young man sat on a wheelchair giving her a worried look.
She swallowed thickly before parting her dry lips, she spoke in a low croak. "Y-Yuuri...."
