Chapter 10 (edited)
Victor stood outside the room while patting Yuki's back, Hiroko and the other's had arrived. "I'm sorry, we couldn't find the room and then we eventually got lost." Hiroko apologized. When Victor didn't respond she frowned. "What's wrong?" She asked worriedly.
Victor took a breath. "He's...he's in love with Angela now." He mumbled in a monotone voice. "That's ridiculous!" Mari stated Yuki winced and whined. "She convinced him that they're both married, and he's really head over heels for her." Victor's eyes watered. "Alright, I think it's time to scold Yuuri," Hiroko stated. "But first, let me see my grandbaby." Hiroko took Yuki from his father and nodded to Victor. "I'm not going to leave until Yuuri holds his son." She stated and entered the room.
Mari, Toshiya, and Victor followed close behind her. "Hello Angela dear, I'm sorry but do you think we can have a moment alone with Yuuri?" Hiroko smile, the woman frowned and then nodded. "Of course." She muttered and walked out of the room, she glanced at Victor before closing the door. "Yuuri Katsuki Nikiforov." She held an upset look startling the young man. "M-mom?" He stammered. The woman first embraced her son along with Yuki who still clung to his grandmother, when they pulled away Hiroko frowned at Yuuri. "Who was that woman Yuuri?" She asked. "Don't you know her mom? She's my wife, she has been for quite a while, wouldn't you know?" He questioned.
Hiroko shook her head. "Yuuri sweetie you never married that woman, you are already married to someone else. And Yuuri I know you don't know what's going on, but I'm really upset that you have hurt your partner." Yuuri suddenly looked hurt. "Son I agree with your mother, this really isn't like you," Toshiya stated. "Yuuri you have to believe mom, I mean come on, she's our mom she's never wrong." Mari chuckled. Yuuri's eyes grew wide. "You guys can't be serious." He mumbled. "Yuuri, you may be startled and shocked but this is your child." Hiroko held Yuki out to Yuuri. "I do not want you to say anything or even protest, just hold him." She demanded.
Yuuri did as he was told and carefully took hold of the tiny child, he winced and cautiously held Yuki in an awkward embrace. Victor felt like he was going to faint, he couldn't tell if he were supposed to be happy or sad. "How..." Yuuri mumbled. "How old is he?" He asked. "Six months, about to be seven," Victor answered. "You never told me his name, and I've been guessing on what it might be, but my mind is really muddled." He admitted, Victor looked at Hiroko who nodded at him.
He then looked at Yuuri. "His name is Yuki." He said, something flashed in Yuuri's eyes and sudden tears filled his eyes and fell from his cheeks. "I don't know why I'm crying." He said and stared down at Yuki. "It's weird knowing this is my son." He blubbered and wiped away his tears, Victor smiled because for a moment he looked like his Yuuri. "I really want to remember, but I'm really convinced that Angela is my wife." He sniffed and Yuki whimpered.
Victor felt his heart crack a little but still kept his hopes up. "He's really missed you Yuuri," his voice wavered. "He's been waiting for so long, and I think he's grown a bit impatient." He chuckled, Yuki looked at his father and then up at the man who held him.
Mother.
That was the first thing his instincts told him and he reached out to him, Yuuri looked surprised and gave the baby a confused look. "Ah..is there something you want?" He asked curiously. Yuki whined and stretched his hands out some more. "I-I don't understand." Yuuri stuttered, suddenly anxious.
"He wants you to hug him." Victor looked surprised. "Oh, uhm is that okay?" Yuuri asked. "Of course." Hiroko nodded, Yuuri lifted the baby closer to his chest and gave him a light squeeze, enveloping him in a soft embrace, Yuki squealed and grasped onto Yuuri's hospital gown. "If he's my son, then who's the mother? If it's not Angela then it must've been someone else." Yuuri stated and looked at his mother who gave Victor a look of concern.
Hiroko took Yuki from Yuuri and handed him over to Victor, Yuuri felt a pang in his chest as they took Yuki away from him. "W-wai-" He reached out for him but quickly stopped himself, he was confused. Yuki whimpered and squirmed in Victor's arms turning his head so that he could face Yuuri. "What's wrong?" He sounded scared and worried, after a while of struggling Yuki whimpered, and then the tears came.
Victor patted his son's back and stepped out of the room to calm him down, he gave an apologetic look to Yuuri before leaving. Hiroko held a glum look. "Yuuri I don't want to startle you, but you've been very special since the beginning." Toshiya and Mari stayed silent as Hiroko spoke to Yuuri. "You..." she paused to take a breath. "You were the one that gave birth to Yuki." She said slowly for him to be able to process and understand what she was saying.
Yuuri was dead silent.
Mari took a step forward and held his hand. "Yuuri?" She whispered to him. "H-how, why? And who!?" He yelled, bewildered. "How is that even possible!? I'm a man!" He stated. "And if so who else made the baby with me!?" His face was flushed red and he stumbled with his words. "I don't understand!" He winced and dropped his head, a sharp pain pierced through his skull and he groaned. "It hurts." He whimpered. "Just take it, easy son." Toshiya patted his son's back while Hiroko stroked his hair. "I know it's a lot to take in, but I promise you it's not a lie. Please, Yuuri, if my son is still in there somewhere we need you to come back, we all need you. Your son..."
"Especially your husband." Yuuri's breath hitched in his throat. "Husband?" He choked out.
Mari tightened her grip on her brother's hand. "Yuuri calm down please." She had easily noticed his irregular breathing and shaky movements. "I'm really married to a man? This is unbelievable." He muttered under his breath he held his head in his hands his fingers curled around locks of his now messy hair, there was a knock at the door. Angela had returned.
When she opened the door Yuuri caught a glimpse of a broken looking Victor rocking a now sleeping Yuki in his arms, Victor looked like he had just lost a war, like he was already accepting defeat and as soon as the door closed Yuuri had questionably almost immediately missed the pair, and he would be greatly lying to himself if he had said he didn't want to hold Yuki again.
Angela rushed to his side with a look of concern plastered on her face. "Oh Yuuri dear you look exhausted, you should rest." She told him in a soothing voice not even taking notice of his family who looked at each other with solemn expressions, Hiroko shook her head and from the pocket of her large coat pulled out an envelope containing a letter from her.
That was plan B. She set it on the little nightstand beside his hospital bed and patted his shoulder. "We'll return tomorrow, please get some rest." She leaned forward and placed a kiss on his cheek, as much as she was upset at Angela, Hiroko was still relieved and happy that her son was back. She just hoped he'd be fully back, the young man on the bed was someone else, her Yuuri was still in there though, that she knew.
Mari gave her brother a loving hug along with Toshiya, Hiroko nodded at Angela before leaving with her family in tow. Outside the room, Victor was seated at the waiting area holding his sleeping son. "He really missed Yuuri," Victor stated as he brushed away the hair that stuck to Yuki's cheeks and fell over his closed eyes. "He cried so much, he really wanted to be with him." His voice broke. "I'm happy that he's realized Yuuri is his mother, but now that he's been held by him after a long time I'm scared Yuki will just get hurt because Yuuri is still with Angela." Hiroko understood what Victor was trying to say.
If Yuuri was still convinced that Angela was his wife then what would she say about Yuki? And did Yuuri love Yuki as much as Yuki loved him? The poor baby had just reunited with his mother after a long time only to be pulled away from him yet again, Victor felt awful seeing how much Yuki cried and searched for his mother until he eventually tired himself out, his breathing was stuttered, it was the kind of breathing you would get after a hard cry. Hiroko held a glum look as she stroked back Yuki's hair and gave a long look at Victor, taking in his posture and facial expression.
The man was tired, broken, and in desperate need of love. Yuuri hadn't even looked at Victor the way he used to, he looked at him like he were a complete stranger, and when he held Yuki he was afraid and cautious acting like Yuki was someone else's baby it was only that one split second that he looked like his old self. Teary-eyed and all. "Are you ready to go?" Hiroko asked in a quiet voice, Victor sighed and nodded. "Yes." He responded and stood from the seat. "Thank you, at least he got to hold Yuki." He forced on a smile, even a fake one was better than nothing.
------------
Arriving back home Hiroko and Toshiya were surprised to see a car in their driveway it's licence plates were from a country unknown to them, Mari was the only one that wasn't surprised though instead she gave out a sigh of relief and climbed out of the car, Yuki had woken up along the way and had been unusually quiet the whole car ride home Victor took Yuki out of car seat and rubbed his back. "I wonder who's here." He mumbled and followed after Hiroko who opened the door, inside in the living room sat Otabek and Yurio.
Yurio was sitting on Otabek's lap facing him with a scowl on his face. "Ah...are we interrupting something?" Hiroko asked, immediately Yurio scrambled off of Otabek's lap and looked away, his face was flushed red. "I-it was nothing, we weren't doing anything." He stammered, Otabek stood from the couch and bowed. "Sorry for visiting unannounced," he apologized. "It's alright, there's no need to bow!" Hiroko reassured. "I'm glad to have you."
Yurio glared at Victor but his gaze softened when he saw how horrible he looked, and because Yuki was looking at him and giggling. "Piglet!" Yurio hurried over to Victor and lightly pinched Yuki's cheek. "You're so big." He grinned. "I want to take you home with me, you're less annoying than your dad. And someone I know." He looked over at Otabek who was talking to Hiroko.
Otabek took notice and looked right back at him and then looked over to the baby in Victor's arms and back to Yurio again. "Do you want one?" He asked.
For the first time Victor laughed, hard, Yurio blushed a bright red and stumbled with his words the other's smiled as Victor wiped a tear from his eyes. "I'm sorry, he just said it with such a stone look I couldn't help myself." He explained, Yuki giggled and reached for Yurio who was still blushing red. He cleared his throat and took Yuki from Victor. "Idiot." He muttered under his breath and played with Yuki's hair, the infant giggled some more. "Why are you here Yurio?" Victor asked curiously.
Hiroko and the rest excused themselves stating that they had to get to work, Mari gave another sigh of relief silently thanking Yurio and Otabek for making it in time.
Yurio sat on the couch and Victor followed suit, meanwhile, Otabek sat on a different couch knowing that Yurio would snap at him, though in all honesty, Yurio wanted to sit beside his boyfriend even if he did embarrass him. "Mari sent us a message through the phone, she said Yuuri was found but something wasn't right about him. And then she said...." he paused suddenly unsure if he should continue, Otabek had finally decided that he didn't care about the consequences and got up from his seat to sit next to Yurio.
Yurio sighed. "She said you weren't doing so well, and I really got worried. Look I may be rude to you at times but," he huffed. "I really care about you okay?" He looked away and Otabek smiled, it was sometimes rare for him seeing Yurio open up and speak his mind.
"I got a plan on how to help Yuuri though, how we can get his memory back." He said. "What's the plan?" Victor asked anxiously ready to do whatever it took to bring his husband back. "It may be harsh, and you may not like it," Yurio warned and smiled when Yuki took hold of his fingers. "What is it?" Victor frowned.
Yurio looked Victor dead in the eyes. "We have to break him."
