Capitolo otto (8)

"What happened Ziva? What did he say?" Luciano asked watching me as I kept shooting the arrows at a rapid speed. It may be a record for me.

"Red," I muttered under my breath.

"What?" I could hear the confusion and concern in his voice.

"Red! Red Blood! That's my name! Not Ziva. Red Blood. Ziva Gray died 15 years ago," I snapped and he stood observed me carefully. I was never one to lose control but I lost it this once. It would be the first and last time.

"What happened 15 years ago Red?" he asked and from my peripheral vision I saw approach closer.

He took up the flat defending thingies people use when sparring. His hands then went around my waist to stop me which I did. He held up his hands for me to punch him. I knew what he was doing and at this point I didn't care. I wad grateful that he was actually here to listen.

"What happened 15 years ago?" he asked again and I sighed and went in position.

"It was my first kill. It wasn't even a dog or a cat or a rabbit or a bird. It was a woman. I didn't know her obviously but apparently she did something wrong to piss my uncle off. Now that I think about it, she could be innocent. She was coming home with the groceries and he demanded that I pierced the arrow through her heart. I spent the rest of the night crying and you can guess what my punishment for that was," I humourlessly chuckled.

"From that day, I tried to please him and when I came of the age of 17, I got my little sister and my mother away from the house, somewhere I knew he wouldn't find her. And if he came anywhere close to finding them, I moved them."

"How old is she?" I smiled as I remembered the small girl with the curly brown hair who would giggle every night I sang to her.

"Her name is Beatrice, she must be around 13 now," I nodded, realizing that I missed 9 years of her life.

"You probably haven't seen them in years. I'm going to help you get them back, Ziva. Lo prometto," he promised and I shook my head. By this time, I had stopped punching and our hands were by our sides with me panting heavily.

(I promise).

"I'm happy that you want to help me Luciano but this is between me and my uncle. I cannot let you and the others get hurt because of me," I told him and he chuckled.

"Stai iniziando a significare piú per me di quanto pensi. We care about you more than you think. Nikolas especially. We will do anything to make sure you don't get hurt," he replied taking a step towards me.

(You are beginning to mean more to me than you think)

I don't think Luciano knows that I can understand what he says when he speaks Italian but that's for me to know. Maybe I'll tell him one day.

"Thank you Luciano," I smiled and unwrapped my knuckles after taking the gloves off.

"Ziva," he called as I made my through the door. I turned to look at him but he just stared at me with an unreadable expression.

"Nevermind," he shook his head dismissively.

Luciano's words echoed in my mind and I was afraid of the way they were affecting me slowly. I don't know if he meant what he said but if it continued like this then we will both be in trouble.

I woke up the next day with Luciano's word echoing in my head, to which I found myself smiling. When I came to realize what was happening I wipe the smile off my face immediately. I looked over at the night table when my eye caught something suspicious. It was a small black box. I looked around the room cautiously for any cameras and under the table for anything connected to the box to lead to a bomb or something.

Nothing.

I carefully took up the box and opened it mentally preparing myself for anything. I looked in it to see a hazel eyed eye. I gasped in surprise and dropped the box immediately causing the eye to roll on the floor. There was also paper on the table. It read: When was the last time you saw your mother and sister? Thank you for the dance last night.

Rage suddenly overcome me as I crushed the paper and suited up.

"Hey, hey. Ziva, where are you going?" he grabbed my arm and stood in front of me.

"I have some business to take care of," I took a deep breath to not be suspicious and replied.

"Like what, I can come with you," he said and I knew he was trying to make me give myself away. Sorry Luciano not today.

"No this is something I need to do by myself," I tried convincing him but he only smirked.

"What did the letter say, Ziva?" my eyes widened and I realized there was no use in lying to him because he knew all along. But h-

"You have cameras in my room?" I narrowed my eyes at him accusingly.

"I know nothing about you, I need to know whose side you're on. I need to know if I can trust you," he told me and I licked my lips and nodded. I noticed that the simple gestured caused him to look down on my lips and gulp.

"What did the letter say?" he asked again.

"I'm guessing you saw the eye from the box. He asked when was the last time I saw my mom and Beatrice. The eye was a colour of my sister's and I know it's not hers but he threatened them Luciano and I will not let him touch them. I better be dead if he even comes remotely near them," my finger tapped rapidly against the bow in my hand slowly getting angry but trying to calm down.

"You will not die, not on my watch. I- We will help you keep them safe, okay. I promise," he held my face in his hands and stared deeply in my eyes, almost begging me to believe him which I did. I nodded and walked away.

"Ziva," he called and I rolled my eyes knowing I've been caught.

"Yes," I gave him an innocent smile.

"Where are you going?" he flashed a small smile. At this point it was now a game between us.

"Oh you know, going out for a drink," I lied knowing that he knows that I know that he already knows the truth.

"With your bow and arrow," he teased and I shrugged. "Besides, you already that I have a full cabinet of many different brands of alcohol."

"What if I'm tired of being locked up like Rapunzel," I tried and he pursed his lips and nodded.

"Okay, I'm going with you. Don't go anywhere, I mean it," he ordered. I went to my room and put my bow and arrow back in place but of course I kept my knives and found an appropriate dress for a club. Luciano got Nikolas to fill my closet with all sorts of clothes a few days ago.

"Ziva, you ready?" Luciano asked on the other side of the door. I opened the door and his eyes widened slightly as his eyes roamed my body.

"Sarà più difficile di quanto pensassi. You look beautiful," he complimented his eyes lingering on my legs.

(This is going to be harder than I thought)

"I know, now let's go" I said and headed towards the door for I couldn't stand his gaze. As I recalled his words, I knew it was too late for the both of us but it all was a matter of time before everything came to light.

Uh oh.
