[ Chapter Nineteen ]

❝You and I both know that Zari is right.❞

"Why don't you wait in the jumpship?" Charlie told Myra as soon as they got to the Bureau.

"And have you have the chance to leave me behind?" Myra asked sarcastically, "No way. Besides, I still exist in this timeline as being with the Legends, so if I'm wandering around the Bureau, I won't be questioned."

"I'm a shapeshifter, Myra." Charlie argued.

"Fine. We both go." Myra finally agreed.

Zari meowed impatiently.

"Alright, we're going." Myra grumbled as Charlie put Zari into the cat carrier and they left the jumpship.

The Bureau looked almost the same as it had been before John altered the timeline though several people gave Charlie and Myra weird looks as they walked through the hall, trying to figure out where John was.

"You need to shapeshift into someone at the Bureau." Myra hissed at Charlie right as they passed an 'Employee' plaque with Gary's name on it.

Charlie glanced at Myra before shifting into Gary.

"The resemblance is uncanny." Myra teased her.

Charlie noticed a table with flowers and a picture of Sara Lance on it and looked confused, "I don't remember there being a memorial here."

"Killed by a unicorn?" Myra raised a brow, "At least now we know how she died."

Suddenly Hank Heywood's voice came from behind them, "Myra Shang? My son told me you returned home."

Myra shrugged, "I did. But I went for a visit with Nate and the others and frankly I'm worried about the way they're handling things."

"And, Gary, you're late!" Hank said, not commenting on Myra's thoughts.

"Uh, sorry, Mr. Heywood. My cat sitter quit on me so-" Charlie pointed at the carrier that Zari was in.

"This place is going to hell in a hand basket." Hank cursed.

"Yeah, it's my bad sir." Charlie nodded.

"Look, the Custodians of the Chronology just destroyed a freaking leprechaun. All right, you know what? If you two happen to see them, tell them that they're getting a scream-down from me." Hank said.

Charlie nodded, "Oh. One more thing Mr. Heywood. Have you seen John Constantine around?"

Hank looked confused, "Is that a joke? He's been in confinement for months. You put him there. Idiots."

Hank quickly walked away and Charlie and Myra looked at each other.

"Solitary confinement?" Myra asked curiously, "What for?"

"No idea." Charlie answered.

Myra grabbed a tablet and the two headed for the elevator. Once inside, Myra quickly pulled up John's file while Charlie shapeshifted back into herself. Myra scanned it before muttering, "Well that's lovely."

"What?" Charlie asked, and held out her hand for the tablet, which Myra handed to her.

The elevator doors opened and Charlie read while they walked.

Myra opened John's cell door with a key card that she'd also swiped from someone's Bureau desk and Charlie read aloud once they walked in, "John Constantine. Confined for becoming dangerously unstable after suspected time crimes."

Charlie opened the barrier and stepped inside towards John.

"Are you real?" John looked at both of them, "Do you exist? Because it's really hard to tell these days."

Charlie looked cautiously at Myra, "Yep. Bloke's gone cuckoo."

Charlie set down the cat carrier on the end of John's bed and John looked at it.

"I sense a familiar face. Who is that?" John leaned towards it, "Z, Z, is that you? Why the transmogrification? Let's get this sorted out."

John unzipped the carrier and plucked a piece of Z's fur causing her to hiss at him, "Alright, I'm sorry, but this is the only way you'll know your truest self."

John whispered an incantation and Zari was transformed back into a human.

"Oh finally." Zari said, stepping onto the floor before coughing.

"Z?" Myra stepped forward in worry but Zari quickly stopped and glared at John and Charlie.

"Hairball." Zari said, "Because of you dicks, I have been a cat for so long. Do you know where this tongue has been?"

Charlie and John had the right sense to look scared and apologetic.

"Places." Zari finished and then looked at Myra, "Sorry, Myr. I know you tried your best to stop this from happening."

"Clearly not hard enough." Myra shrugged.

"I wasn't sure that reversal was going to work because I've been feeling a little, well, insane lately." John admitted.

"Well you only have yourself to blame." Zari told him.

"Wait what?" John asked.

"You created a time wave when you changed your past with Desmond. Because you're the epicenter, your experience of that timeline and this one both exist in your brain." Zari explained.

"Just give me a break here. What you're saying is that I broke time?" John asked.

"Yeah and now everything is a mess." Myra told him, "Did you know Nate tried to kill Charlie and he's probably going to try and kill me too? Like in what situation would my best friend try to murder me?"

"Exactly. Back in New Orleans you broke time." Zari added, "Sure, you don't have to live with the guilt of damning Desmond, but you also never joined the Legends."

"Without John's help with the unicorn at Woodstock, Sara died, which made the Legends into killers." Charlie explained and then looked at Myra, "And caused Nate to try and murder us."

Myra nodded, "We need to fix this."

"Yeah, we go back to Woodstock and we save Sara." John said.

"Yeah." Charlie smiled.

"What?" Myra and Zari asked at the same time.

"No. Guys, you're not listening to me. You have to go to New Orleans and set history back on track." Zari told John.

"Whoa, Z." Charlie interrupted, "You're suggesting a total reset of the timeline. What we need is a surgical strike. Now, if we save Sara, then the Custodians of the Chronology never exist. I keep my powers, Dez is de-demoned, Bob's your uncle."

"I'm sorry guys. I have to stop you before you make this any worse." Zari said and started walking out but John grabbed another hair from Zari and transformed her back into a cat.

"Seriously John?" Myra asked.

John picked up Zari-cat and shoved her into the carrier, "I'm sorry, love. Until you can learn to stay out of my way, then you are a cat." He then looked at Myra, "Are you going to get out of my way?"

"You and I both know that Zari is right." Myra said stepping in front of him, with her arms crossed.

"Do you want to become a cat too?" John challenged.

"I hate you." Myra mumbled and then sighed, "Fine, but your plan isn't going to fix things."

Myra stepped out of the way and followed the two out of John's holding cell and ran right into Mona.

"Wait how can you still work here if there aren't any magical creatures left?" Myra asked, mostly to herself then to Mona.

Charlie walked up to Mona, "How much of that did you hear?"

"Uh, nothing at all." Mona said, stepping back, "Nothing about breaking out or hacking history. Please don't turn me into a cat."

"Well I didn't turn her into a cat. I returned her to being a cat, which is considerably easier, believe me." John responded.

"Not helping." Myra hissed at him.

"But if you gotta. Maybe a calico and like really fluffy." Mona offered and closed her eyes, "Okay, I'm ready. Do it."

Charlie stared at Mona before looking at John and Myra, "What are we going to do with her?"

"I have no idea." John responded.

"You don't have to do anything." Mona offered, "I wanna help."

"You do?" Charlie asked, surprised.

"Really?" Myra asked.

"The Custodians of the Chronology must be stopped." Mona said.

"As does their terrible name." Myra added.

"They turned my Kaupe friend into a rug. So, if you're trying to defeat them, I want in." Mona told them.

Myra smirked at her friends, "Well, let's do this thing."

They snuck back upstairs with Charlie shapeshifted back into Gary, and Mona pushing her cart, with John concealed inside. Myra just strolled alongside them acting like she owned the place, because she knew she technically existed in this timeline.

"Oy, watch the bumps." John hissed from the cart and Charlie kicked him lightly.

"Shh, someone might hear you." Mona hissed.

"Red alert! The Waverider is landing!" A voice sounded over the loud speaker and red flashing lights blared in their faces.

"Oh man, the Custodians are here." Charlie said, "Could things get any worse?"

Suddenly Charlie bumped into the real Gary. Myra cursed.

"Wait. Stop right there. Are you me?" The real Gary asked.

"Yes. From the Future." Charlie responded and the real Gary gasped.

"Do I ever find love? Or at least my sunglasses?" The real Gary asked.

"Yes, Gary. All that and more." Charlie said.

Suddenly lasers and shrieking sounded from down the hall.

"Shit." Myra cursed under her breath.

"It's the Custodians!" Someone screamed.

"But right now I need you to delay the Custodians." Charlie turned back to Gary.

"Okay." Gary nodded, "Oh, but be careful. There's a shapeshifter on the loose."

"Yeah, I know that already." Charlie blurted out and at Gary's questioned look, Charlie added, "Because I'm you from the future, dummy."

Gary quickly left and Myra motioned to Mona, "Come on, we need to hide."

They turned down corridors until they reached Ava's office. Myra ushered everyone in before peering out into the hallway to make sure everything was clear before she shut the door.

John quickly got out of the cart, and pushed Myra aside, who was standing in front of the cart.

"Where are we?" Charlie asked, looking around.

"Ava's office." Mona responded, "But she's gone."

"Gone, gone?" Charlie asked.

Suddenly someone flipped on a light, "I'm right here idiots."

Myra blinked as she saw Ava sitting in a chair, "Ava?"

"Sharpie? What happened to you?" John asked.

"I'm allowed to grieve in my own way." Ava shrugged, "Why the hell are you out of your cell?"

"Well, plans change, love." John shrugged back.

"Are you sure you're okay, Director Sharpe?" Mona asked.

"I'm fine." Ava said, throwing her hood off to reveal black hair, "I'm just taking time to get my head together after Sara was unicorned."

"I'm really sorry about that." Charlie said and shifted back into herself, "Things are not as they seem."

"Amaya?" Ava leaned forward.

"No." Charlie responded, "Well, it's a long story but time is well, broken."

"What are you talking about?" Ava asked.

"Well, you see, you're living in a timeline that doesn't exist and we're from a timeline where your hair is still blonde." John said, pointing at Ava's hair.

"Okay, I don't have time for all this timey-wimey crap." Ava shook her head.

"No, no, this is the truth." Charlie assured her.

"Myra?" Ava looked at Myra for confirmation.

Myra uncrossed her arms and looked at John and Charlie, before looking back at Ava, "They're telling the truth, Ava."

"Okay, now listen. The Custodians of the Chronology are actually the Legends of Tomorrow, and they're the good guys, mostly." Charlie said.

"Yeah, and the kicker is, Sara is supposed to be alive." John added.

"Did you say Sara's alive?" Ava asked.

Myra nodded, "Yeah."

Ava stood up, "I knew it! I knew something was wrong. I mean I like The Indigo Girls but they should not be a way of life."

"Then let's help them set things right." Mona said.

"What do you guys need from me?" Ava asked.

"We need to get out of here." Myra said, "Preferably without alerting the Custodians to our presence."

Ava nodded, and grabbed a pistol from behind her desk and handed it to Myra, "Can you use this?"

Myra quickly loaded it, "Yeah, but one gun is not going to stop them, and I don't really fancy killing my best friend. Even if he did try to kill me."

Ava grabbed another gun, "You won't have to. Let's go."

They quickly peered into the hall and when they noticed that no one was coming, Ava led the group out. They made it quite aways until suddenly the Custodians appeared in front of them, while the Bureau members appeared behind them.

"Well, well, well, look who's helping our magical fugitive." Ray said and Ava and the others turned towards him.

"We were looking for you." Nate said, chewing a piece of gum and then he pointed to Myra, "Didn't think you'd sink this low."

Myra sneered at him, "Look who's talking."

"Thought you might want to have some fun." Nate added.

"I got 12 gauges of fun right here." Ava pointed the gun at him.

"That's it, I'm placing you all under arrest." Hank announced.

"Shut your mouth, pops" Mick said.

Ava and Myra exchanged a look before Ava shouted, "Go!"

They ran as the Custodians started shooting at them. Myra pointed her gun at The Custodians and growled, "This is for trying to kill my girlfriend," before she shot at Garima, and ran after her friends.

They all hid behind some plants and Ava motioned for them to leave, "I'll cover you. Go save Sara."

John, Mona and Charlie quickly ran out of there but Myra smiled at Ava, "Thank you."

"Anytime." Ava responded, "Now go."

Charlie ran back and grabbed Myra's hand, "Come on."

They left Mona outside as they ran to the jumpship. Once inside, Charlie quickly sat down in the captain's chair and left the Bureau behind.

"Did they really all just kill each other?" John asked, shocked.

"Don't think about it." Charlie said.

"It's hard not to." Myra admitted, sitting down in one of the chairs.

"Okay, we'll go back in time and we'll fix things. We have to." Charlie told them, and immediately set a course for Woodstock.

Once they got there, Charlie quickly armed the weapons and fired on the unicorn as soon as they got close enough before flying off.

"Nice shot!" John cheered.

Myra rolled her eyes at her friends, and stood up to stand next to John.

"We saved Sara's life. That should fix things." John commented and looked at Myra as if trying to prove something.

"Well you better hope so." Myra commented.

"The Custodians should be back to being the Legends and Zari should no longer be a cat." Charlie added and turned around.

At Charlie's confused look, John and Myra also turned around.

"Alright this might be a crossed wire thing in my brain, but that is still a cat sitting there, isn't it?" John asked.

Myra snorted, "Well, look who was right?"

"Shut up." John glared at her.

"Killing the unicorn didn't solve the problem." Charlie sighed.

Zari meowed impatiently.

"No Zari, we're not going back to New Orleans." Charlie argued.

"We're just going to have to find out what's wrong with this timeline and fix it." John said.

"Z's right, you know." Myra said.

"Don't make me turn you into a cat." John threatened Myra.

Myra rolled her eyes, "I'm just saying, it's not going to be fixed until we go back to what caused this problem."

"There's got to be another way, Myr." Charlie said and turned back to the controls, "And we're going to find it."
