[ Chapter Eight ]

❝I told you, I wasn't going to be a part of this, Sara.❞

Myra hated this plan.

She was sure Ray would never forgive them if they killed the shapeshifter and she wasn't sure they deserved to be forgiven if they murdered someone. Or correction, sent them to hell.

The fairy godmother and unicorn were bloodthirsty creatures so that was different. But this was a living, breathing person, who as far as Myra knew, just wanted to have some fun.

She was teamed up with John and Zari again, much to Myra's protest.

"Well, no sign of Ray or the creature, Captain." Zari said as the three walked through the band's hideout.

Sara didn't answer and Zari repeated, "Sara? Can you hear me? Sara?"

"Hmm." John said as he picked up two records and then handed them to Myra, "Maybe you should have put a tracker in her comm."

"Funny." Myra took the records, "What the hell am I supposed to do with these? Though, they do have good taste."

Suddenly someone shot at them and Myra dropped to the ground, next to her friends.

"What the hell?" Myra yelled and peered out to see it was Ray shooting at them.

"What the hell, Ray?" Zari repeated Myra's words.

John grabbed Myra's hand and Myra hauled Zari up as well as they ran from the room.

"Told you this was a horrible idea." Myra complained.

The three hid behind a large chest, but suddenly it shrank before their very eyes, as Ray shrunk it with his shrink ray.

They quickly ran and hid behind a sofa until someone jumped in front of them yelling, "Stop."

Myra looked up confused to hear Ray's voice, until she realized that the person who'd been shooting at them must have been the shapeshifter pretending to be Ray.

"Don't hurt my friends." Ray said.

"Your friends are drones." The shapeshifter said.

"No, they're better than that." Ray pleaded.

"I'm not taking the chance. No way am I going back to prison." The shapeshifter said.

"Atom suit, disassemble." Ray said.

The suit fell away from the shapeshifter and the shapeshifter morphed back into her 'real look' just as Sara and Mick ran into the room.

"Guess you're a drone too." The shapeshifter said to Ray.

"That's enough. Zari." Sara instructed and Zari immediately activated her totem and used her wind to push the shapeshifter against the wall.

"Z, no!" Myra called out but Zari didn't listen. Myra turned to her captain, "I told you, I wasn't going to be a part of this, Sara."

"I'm sorry, Myra, but we have no choice." Sara apologized.

"Great. Now let's send this beast to Hell." John said.

"Wait." Ray said.

"Hell? What the hell?" The shapeshifter asked.

"Guys, come on, look. Let's think about this, all right?" Ray pleaded, "She is not evil."

"Ray, I've already tried. They're not going to listen." Myra explained.

"She stole your suit, Ray. And tried to kill us." Sara said.

"That's the ballsiest thing you've ever done, Haircut." Mick said, pointing his gun at the shapeshifter.

Myra had intentionally left her sword on the ship so she wouldn't have to kill anyone but, she was starting to think she should have brought it. Not to kill anyone, but maybe to knock out her teammates before they did something they'd regret.

"She's only doing what any one of you would have done if you were cornered." Ray pleaded.

"We let her out, this is on us." Sara said.

John opened a portal, "Okay, the portal is open, now send the monster through."

"I'll show you what a real monster looks like." The shapeshifter said and shifted into Sara, "Like this." The shapeshifter then shifted into, Mick, "Like someone who'd rather do what's easy," The shapeshifter shifted into Zari, "Then figure out what's right."

Everyone looked at each other in shock.

The shapeshifter shifted into John, next, "Someone who'd send an innocent to hell."

The real John yelled, "Don't fall for its' bloody parlor tricks."

The shapeshifter continued, "Ray said your team's moral compass was missing." The shapeshifter then shifted into Amaya and everyone stared in shock, "Can you send her to hell?"

Myra let out a squeak of pain as she watched the shapeshifter shift into one of their former teammates.

"Zari, you're too smart to fall for this bloody creature. Now send it through. I can't keep the portal open forever." John said to Zari.

"Z, please." Myra begged her friend, because even though she'd been against this plan, seeing the shapeshifter as Amaya made her even more desperate not to go through with it.

Zari looked at Myra before looking back at the shapeshifter and she shook her head, "No, I can't do it."

John closed the portal and Zari let the shapeshifter go.

"All right. We're going to figure this out on the ship." Sara instructed.

"Fine. But I'm not letting a shapeshifter on the bloody ship." John walked over to the shapeshifter.

"John. What are you doing?" Myra asked as John said a spell.

"What did you do to me, you ass?" The shapeshifter asked.

"It's a lobotomy of sorts. Your shapeshifting days are over, sweetheart." John responded.

"No!" The shapeshifter screamed as John let the others take her back to the ship.

The Legends locked the shapeshifter up in the lab, so she couldn't get free to roam the ship or worse, jump through time, but she was not pleased with the situation, as everyone could tell by her yelling.

"Come on, you cowards! Come on down here!" The shapeshifter yelled as they watched her on the screens.

"We can't just leave her locked in there forever." Ray said.

"You are on thin ice in terms of what we can and cannot do." Sara said and then looked at Myra, "Myra, you too."

"What the hell?" Myra complained as she drank a cup of coffee.

"Those punks were a bad influence on you, Ray." Sara said.

"Oh well, maybe you just don't know as much about me as you think you do." Ray scoffed.

Sara rolled her eyes, "You were an Eagle scout, former CEO of Palmer Tech. Your favorite musical is 'Singing in the Rain.' You're allergic to cats, and Grodd. And you were knighted by Queen Guinevere, as Sir Raymond of the Palms."

"Okay, so you know a lot." Ray agreed.

"Yeah." Sara nodded.

"But, you don't know that I was the man who helped Nora Darkh escape the Time Bureau." Ray spat out.

"Wait what?" Myra asked, staring at him.

"You, what?" Sara asked, also in shock.

"She's not going to sleep with you, Haircut." Mick said, confused.

"That's not why I did it." Ray insisted, "I just believe she can be a better person. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe she's a terrible, horrible monster. But I believe she should be given the chance to find out. Everyone else on this ship has been given a second chance. Why doesn't she get one?"

"He's got a point." Myra nodded.

Sara sighed, "Look, you better not be wrong about her. But right now we need to deal with our currant captive. She cannot stay on the ship."

"Yeah, especially now with Amaya's face. It's freaking creepy." Zari broke in.

"You broke her, you fix her, weasel." Mick yelled at John who was sitting beside Myra on the steps, "Make her not Amaya again."

"Spell doesn't work like that, Womble." John answered, "I took away her power to transform. It's like clipping an angel's wings. You can't just unclip them."

Myra turned to him, "Well, you better figure it out, Constantine. It's creeping me out."

"You were the one who didn't want me to send her to hell." John argued.

Myra snorted, "She didn't deserve that. But I also, don't want to see her looking like someone I-" Myra caught herself before she revealed too much, "Whatever, it's creepy, just like Zari said."

Everyone gave her a look before she got up and went to the kitchen.
