Rainy Days FAQ
HERE WE ARE:
I know no one's asked this yet, but the question has already previously come up and I feel obligated to answer it;
Q; "Is 'The Rain' a real book? And is Karen Brown a real person? And will you write out 'The Rain'?"
A; "The Rain" is not real, neither is Karen, and I doubt I'll write the book out because it's all there in the summary I wrote down c:
(from deerstalked_cookie) Q; "What happens to Karen Brown? Does she ever become published/successful? I think she should be like a nice mysterious lady putting books on shelves randomly until her fans build up or a noble idiot that converses with her one fan for the rest of her days."
A; Oh gosh um I've never thought about that *thinks forever* I think that maybe we'll leave that up to everyone's imagination, but your theory makes me want to weep with pride <3 YOU GO KAREN, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS BEFORE YOU HAVE ANOTHER EXISTENTIAL CRISIS
(from Thatonegirl5569) Q; "if you were to write a sequel, what would you put in it?"
A; I honestly can't say for sure because I make this shit up as I go along mate xD
I was definitely thinking of elaborating on Karen Brown and maybe even her former lover. I also sort of wanted to put the clerk in a spotlight and maybe have her become this love-struck woman who sees how Sherlock and John got together and sets off on a journey of love <3
ew maybe not
I think I would incorporate the snow instead of the rain this time, and maybe call it "Snowy Days" or "After the Rain," but I honestly don't know where it would go.
I doubt I'll write a sequel, because some things just aren't meant to continue. I don't want to push my luck and publish a horrible sequel that can't live up to the first, or write a really good one and people read the first one just to get to the sequel...
(from ShinobiSaysWoof) Q; "Where did you get the induration for the storyline? X"
A; I feel kinda dumb because I looked up the definition for the word 'induration' and it told me it meant "to harden" so ahahahaa...;
Incentive?
Inspiration?

To answer your question, I live in New Mexico, USA, (and no I'm not Mexican). There's never any rain here, and when there is, it's a blessing. I adore curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee and just enjoying the sound of the rain hit the ground and the window. So I combined the two into an AWESOME CUDDLY HIPSTER STORY AWW
I started out with a wild hair up my ass and was like "I CAN MAKE MY OWN COVER ART OMG I'M GONNA WRITE A WHOLE NEW STORY JUST SO I CAN MAKE THE COVER ART" so if you really wanna get technical I got the idea when I accidentally touched my tablet one day pfft
(from AnotherFangirl31) Q; "Did John read Rainy Days, too?"
A; I think you meant 'The Rain', sweetie xD
And yeah, I'm sure John found Sherlock asleep somewhere around the house and said, "What's so great about this darn thing anyway," and read a few chapters, but I imagine he got bored early on and just put it back where he found it. I'm pretty sure only Sherlock actually enjoyed the book because it is, in all honesty, boring and average and ugh. Even Sherlock thought so, until he reread it a few times. He didn't want to believe he wasted his time on it so he went back and searched for something good in it to excuse himself, and instead wound up adoring the entire thing.
(from perfectlyparadox) Q; "Did you base the writer on anyone?"
A; Honestly, nope. I didn't even think about it when I wrote her name the first time. I meant it as merely a sort of incentive for Sherlock to stop long enough for John to wind up walking in. But then the next chapter I sort of meh thought, "Hey I bet Sherlock would've bought that book because he's a sentimental shithead," and kinda accidentally wrote it into everythingggg
But my favorite author is Dan Brown so maybe I was subconsciously making a statement xD
(from zuanna12 and countless others) Q; "Thank you."
A; GOD YOU'RE WELCOME I LOVE GETTING COMMENTS LIKE THAT BECAUSE SHERLOCK WROTE IT TO KAREN TO THANK HER FOR HELPING CHANGE HIM A LITTLE AND I ALWAYS FEEL SO GREAT BECAUSE GAAAHHHH I PROBABLY CHANGED PEOPLE'S PERSPECTIVE AND THAT'S ALL I AIM FOR AS A WRITER I love changing people for the better and making an impact on them <3 <3 <3
(from bubbleybear2000) Q; "Can you make a sequel?"
A; Probably not. I mean, what more is there to tell? Sherlock and John have their happy ending, and I think I would've made Rainy Days longer if I there were more to the story. There just isn't though. It's very simple, lovers meet via a bookstore and the rain. And I think it's just canon that in teenlock John's father is abusive and Sherlock is rich, so I tried not to be too cliche. If I were to write any more, it would become cliche, and I hate being cliche.
Maybe I can write some one shots of their average life and shit? idek
(from thebeatlesatheart) Q; "Agh, why is this story so cute?"
A; Books + rain + John Watson = yesplease
(from Mr_Moriarty) Q; "What nickname did John and Sherlock give to the weird date?"
A; "That One Weird Chick" pfft and I imagine sometimes they're out in public and they're like "Dude this reminds me of That One Weird Chick" and they chuckle like idiots
(from geronim_oh) Q; "Does John ever tell Sherlock about the stuff that happened to him at home?"
A; No, they don't talk about it because it makes John uncomfortable, and I didn't want to make the whole story about John's sad childhood. Sherlock just sort of notices the signs of abuse and doesn't say anything more about it.
(from theboredpanda) Q; "Did you make up the quote, or did you see it somewhere else? Thank you."
A; She also asked why I'm so amazing ahahahahahahahahaha *flies into the sun* Anywho, I made up the quote pfft that's why it's worded kinda funky herp derp;
(from moriartyisreal_) I read this in one day (obviously). I don't have a question, it's more like a statement. I loved this. I loved this because it wrapped up in the end. And I didn't cry. I felt good. I felt that it was the best way it could be. I love the quote. And I thank you for sharing this. I guess I do have a question. Why can't I meet you? I want to. I want to chat with you. And be your best buddy. But really, I'm truthful and I am happy that you did this. I just hope you don't think I'm doing this for attention. I am writing because I honestly mean it. Thank you. -MB
A; I love people who leave long messages like these. Don't ever feel silly for doing so, because I'm just a kid who likes to smile and likes her ego stroked like everyone else. Don't feel afraid to talk to me, because I don't think any of you are stupid or craving attention. I want to talk with all of you, that's why I reply to comments, that's why I opened this Q&A. And hey, we can talk about anything; music, movies, books, shipping, fashion, hell, I'll talk about everything. And I'm happy that people like you enjoy what I wrote, and I'm glad that some people read this every day and find something new and meaningful between each word. I got fanart once from a very lovely user by the name of theboredpanda, and she thought she was stupid, but SHE TOTALLY WASN'T GAWSH IT WAS SO CUTE UGHHH so yeah totally just talk to me man
Feel free to ask more questions, I update this regularly :D
*tap dances off into the night*
