Rainpaw wildly looks around for her mentor. Ashpool, where are you? She gives a sigh of relief when she sees Ashpool emerge from the fight.

Firestorm is running to the nursery, and Petalstar and Ashpool are in the safety of some brambles.

What do do? Rainpaw wildly looks around, seeing a gray cat, about her size, running for the medicine den. Rainpaw hisses at the cat and rears back, swiping at his face. He jerks his head and barrels into Rainpaw. The tom holds her down as Rainpaw tries to get away from the cat.

I have to protect Sandpaw! Rainpaw suddenly realizes. She goes limp, and the cat relaxes his grip. Rainpaw surges upward, showing off the cat.
She runs to the entrance of the medicine den and stands in front of it. She sees Petalstar laying down, her kits at her belly, and Ashpool crouching next to her. She lets out a sigh of relief. The kits are okay. Rainpaw hears a shreik, and whips her head around. The gray tom had broken into the medicine den.

Rainpaw rushed inside, and stared at the cat. "Get out of here!" She hisses. The tom turned around, saw Rainpaw and sat down with an amused look. What is he doing? Rainpaw crouhed, and bared her teeth. He stares at her, and cocks his head. Rainpaw stood up and frowned. "Why are just sitting there?"

"I'm Lightningpaw."

"Okay, Lightningpaw, why are you just sitting there?"

Lightningpaw smirks. "I know I'm a better fighter than you, so I'm not going to fight you."

Rainpaw flicks her tail in annoyance. You asked for it! She leaps at him, claws extended, but Lightningpaw easily dodges, grabbing Rainpaw's scruff and holding her in the air.

"Hey! Let go!"

Lightningpaw releases Rainpaw, but keeps a strong paw planted on her chest, claws sheathed. They hear a yowl outside. Lightningpaw releases Rainpaw, and bolts outside. Rainpaw cautiously follows, and the sight in the middle of the clearing made her gasp.

She saw the tattered, bleeding form of Cinderlight, Sandpaw and Windpaw's mother.
