Chapter 8

Sorry guys! I'm going to make Stormpaw Hopespirit's apprentice. That way, Rainfeather can focus on killing cats! :3

Rainfeather crept through the woods on a hunting mission. She was quickly caught off track as she heard the leaves of a bush swish. Creeping closer, she saw the milky white pelt of Moonfrost.

She was gathering large green leaves, which had a sharp scent. "Hello, Rainfeather. Ready to kill me?" She meowed bitterly.

Rainfeather blinked. "Why would I do that?" She responded, tilting her head.

Moonfrost growled. "You may be able to fool them, but you can't fool me!" She took a step back, as if preparing for Rainfeather to attack.

She couldn't let Moonfrost give her away. Suddenly she lunged, aiming for her throat. Moonfrost hissed and ducked down. "I knew it!" she yowled. "You traitor!"

Rainfeather leaped again, hooking her claws deep into her flesh. Moonfrost quickly responded by lashing out and clawing Rainfeather in the face. With one swift swipe, Rainfeather sliced her throat, silencing her opponent. She watched the life seep out of her, smiling with pleasure.

Killing hasn't bothered her much anymore, and in fact she actually enjoyed it.

She looked down at the comfrey leaves, which would easily hide her scent. Quickly, she rubbed them on the lifeless body, and hooked the fur out if her claws.

Rainfeather headed back to camp, as if nothing had ever happened

A loud screech erupted from the woods. Quickly, Rainfeather, Redstar, Twilightstorm, and Wolfhowl dashed toward the ear-splitting cry of Honeystem.

When they arrived, Honeystem was crouched over her mentor, Moonfrost. "What happened?!" Redstar demanded.

"I-I don't know... I just found her like this!" Honeystem responded, sobbing quietly.

Twilightstorm turned to Rainfeather. "It does seem a little suspicious, don't you think?"

Rainfeather tilted her head. "Your always disappearing when these things happen!" Twilightstorm hissed.

"Are you blaming these deaths on me?" Rainfeather growled. "Yes!" She responded angrily. "You were sent out on a hunting mission, but I didn't see you bring back any prey!"

Rainfeather hissed. She would have to make up a story. "There were Twolegs scaring all the prey away."

"Twilightstorm, I'm sure it was just a coincidence." Redstar said, stepping in between the two cats.

"Believe what you want." She growled. "But I know the truth."

I've been thinking about changing the title to Rainfeather's Darkness.

What do you think?
