I jogged all the way to the cinema.
Correction: I fell on my face all the way to the cinema.
Turns out I should have done cross country last year.
The front was extremely populated. It seemed that the whole of Jade Mountain High had decided to come and watch the dragonet prophecy. Lucky that I was tall for a year 7 student, and I could see over some shoulders. I just saw a flash of dark blue through a gap.
"Dang." I jostled my way through the crowd, but someone shoved me back.
"Back of the line, princess." Addax sneered in my face. "Or will you call mummy and have her pay?" I flicked my light blue hair in his face.
"Thanks, but no. I think I'm good to go, Addax." (Anyone get that reference?) Addax rolled his eyes and tried to rejoin his place in the line.
"Hey! Back of the line, punk."
"This was my spot!"
"Don't care. Back of the line." It was Peril, her blue eyes full of flames. Addax's eyes widened, and he quickly stepped back, knocking someone over.
"Hey! Shove off!" They rolled around on the ground, and Addax accidentally punched the kid in the nose. He punched him back, and a full scale riot broke out. I decided it was my turn to sneak in, but someone grabbed my arm as I reached the steps.
"Where are you going?" It was Kinkajou, her sunshine yellow curls bouncing up and down, a lollipop hanging from her mouth.
"I...er...uh..." I stammered.
"Sneaking in? Cool! Who are doing it for?" She giggled. "Oh, I can see it on your face. Now, spill!" I swallowed.
"Tamarin." Kinkajou's lollipop dropped from her mouth.
"No. No way." I shivered as her eyes suddenly darkened. "Pick anyone else but Tamarin." My stomach clenched.
"Who are you to decide who I love?! Did anyone ever tell you you couldn't love Turtle? Did anyone force you to go out with someone you hate? No! So I'm going in there, an I'm telling Tamarin I love her, and I don't care what you think about it!"
Wordlessly, Kinkajou opened the door and let me step through.
"Thank you." I breathed. "Now, let's go get the girl!"
