Part Three❤️
He finally found someone who would make him feel better about his life, about where he's going to go, and his ability to make something great out of himself, not that he didn't before. This whole relationship for Foroughi came from Plenty of Fish, an app for people trying to find someone that they want to be with for the long term. When asked how long they have been a pair, he responded, "we've been dating for ten months. Our anniversary is on the fourth of July." The two have made tremendous progress for the better. The two of them have gotten engaged, have bought their own land, and are mentors for each other.
When asked about how it felt to become engaged, Foroughi replied, "I was totally thrown off guard when he proposed because I had no idea he was going to propose when he did. But once he did, I felt on top of the world." Foroughi also added, "Derrick and I have been engaged for 4 months now." When asked about knowing if Derrick was the one, Foroughi responded, "I didn't know right away, it wasn't until later that first night I met him when we spent up all night just talking about anything and everything that this was someone that I never wanted to leave my life." Everyone is always looking for that one person that will listen; listening is important.
Derrick Alger, as Foroughi puts it, is "one of the sweetest guys that anyone can get to know. I believe he's extremely smart and talks with purpose." Alger, as mentioned before, helped Foroughi be the best that he can be. "He really helps me feel more like who I was born to be." Alger is someone very clearly special to him. Foroughi makes it clear that, "he helps me elevate myself as I'm helping me want to be the best version of myself that I can become." Foroughi describes the two of them as, "he's the yin to my yang." Alger is a Vermonter, spent some time in New Hampshire, specifically Woodsville. Foroughi says that, "he's a big video gamer, loves his dog, and is an excellent chef."
When moving to a new place, the question is whether people respond to him differently. He answered, "I feel people around here are more narrow minded because I deal with more older people that were raised on certain beliefs." He continues, "I take those beliefs into consideration, but I don't let anyone disrespect me."
To add vice to versa, Foroughi said that the way he has helped Alger back is, "I like to think I helped him come out to the world." Foroughi brought out something that Alger had a hard time doing himself, telling the world that he, too, was gay: "Before me, he hadn't told a single soul that he was attracted to the same sex," he explains. This is what relationships are supposed to do. They allow for growth and fond memories such as one of Foroughi's favorites: "I always will remember the time he surprised me on a road trip to Old Orchard Beach to walk around and walk through the sand."
Even though, these two are extremely happy with each other, let it be asked if there is any outside prejudice that affects this bond poorly. With a very confident answer Foroughi makes it clear: "absolutely not, I know this to be my life, and I can choose whoever I love and want to spend my life with." He does share that even though he doesn't let others' views affect him and Alger, when asked about if anything has been done to them, when they are out and about, he says there is the "staring." In response to this, he says, "which I don't mind doing myself so it can be a staring contest for me. But I warn people that I'll win." He stands his ground, for a good reason.
