Ava wakes before the girls and hears loud whispering in the hallway. Still tired from her midnight adventure she slowly walks to the door and presses her ear up against it.

"I'm sorry Chris, I can't risk my job..." Derek tells her.

"But those woods have been there for longer than those people have been alive. There has to be a way," aunt Chris's voice cracks at the ending, she sounds sad.

"I'm sorry," Derek whispers, but it's just loud enough for Ava to hear. "I wish I had better news," he says.

"I understand."

"Ava?"

Kate's voice startles her sister and she turns to her.

"What are you doing?"

Kate is still lying in bed. She rubs her sleepy eyes to focus on her sister standing at the door eavesdropping.

"Something is wrong," Ava says sadly, hanging her head low.

Kate raises a brow, as Sophie stirs in the bed beside her.

"I think the woods are in trouble..."

"What makes you think that?"

Kate throws the covers off, and slips her bare feet into her favorite ducky slippers she left next to her bed. She paddles over to her younger sister and rests a hand on her shoulder.

"Aunt Chris and Derek, they were talking," Ava says. "I think Derek's job is coming to take the woods away," she says sadly.

"I'm sure there's an explanation. Come on. Derek would never harm those woods."

Kate throws an arm over her sister's shoulder. As much as Kate didn't want to be here at first, now that she's here she feels happy and relaxed. It might not be Explore Kingdom, but it's still fun. She and Ava make her way downstairs where aunt Chris sits at the table, her head hanging sadly.

"Auntie Chris?" Ava says, in a tiny voice.

Aunt Chris wipes the tears that fall from her eyes.

"Hey, are you girls hungry. Darn allergies," she tries to laugh it off, but the girls know something is wrong.

Kate walks over first and takes aunt Chris's hand in hers.

"You're sad," Ava says, taking her other hand.

Aunt Chris looks down at the sweet children peering up at her. They are smarter than she gives them credit for, but she doesn't want to explain to them that someone wants to cut down all of the trees behind her home and create more homes.

"I'm okay."

"Are bad people going to take away the tree's?" Ava asks.

She looks up at her aunt with a twinkle in her eyes. She knows if the trees go away that not only will the animals that live there not have a home, but the magic will die along with it. She can't allow the magic to die there has to be a way to save the trees and the magic they hold.

"Oh Ava."

"She overheard you talking," Kate explains.

Aunt Chirs kneels down to Ava's level and takes both of her hands in her own.

"Baby, I'm so sorry. There's nothing I or Derek can do to stop what is happening. We can protest all we want, but these guys are ruthless."

Ava looks up unaware of what the word ruthless means.

"They are bad people," aunt Chris adjusts her wording for Ava to understand better.

"Why do bad people want the trees? They are... they are..."

"What sweetie?"

"The trees are mag...."

"What's going on?" A tired Sophie asks, trudging into the kitchen yawning.

"Bad people are taking away the trees," Ava pouts.

Aunt Chris stands, but keeps hold of one of Ava's hands.

"Can't we fight and protest like those people on TV?" Kate asks.

Kate sometimes catches the news when her mom is watching it or listening to it on the radio. She's seen people stand on corners with signs fighting for a cause. Maybe she can do it too.

"Oh, sweetie believe me people have tried," she sighs. "It's best to let it go," she says trying to smile through her sadness.

"I have to tell the tree's," Ava says. "They have to know."

Ava let's go of aunt Chris's hand and rushes out the door. She forgets all about her shoes and runs down the dirt path towards the waterfall. It's different during the day, different in that the magic is still there, but it's not as strong.

"Ava!"

She hears her name being screamed from the porch of Aunt Chris's house, but chooses to ignore it. If she's going to save the magic she has to do it before it's too late.
