Derek tries to peek out. Not only had one tree fallen over, but several others blocked the way as well. Ava stood beside him wondering if her animal friends and the magic wind were okay. Maybe, they were protecting them, and pushed Derek to find the cave and in turn save her. Only now they were trapped, where had the magic gone? She wondered.

Derek leans out some more to look up. The sky is clearing, but the clouds are still dark leaving the woods darker than normal.

"Gonna be a while," he says. "Are you still hungry?" he asks.

At first Ava didn't realize it, but after a moment her tummy rumbled with that hungry feeling.

"Hope your mom won't mind, I have some M&Ms stashed away in my bag."

Ava's smile is big. She shrugs, "Under these circumstances," she says, the word circumstances sounds like circus dances. "I think it would be okay."

She gives him a toothy grin as he pulls the candy from his bag.

"Shh.. don't tell anyone okay?"

She reaches her tiny pinky up at him again, and he wraps his pinky around hers, "Pinky swear," she says.

While Ava eats her secret candy, Derek attempts to find ways to climb over the fallen tree. He tries shouting out for help in hopes that maybe one of the other men looking are still around after the storm. Ava watches him as he stares at his phone attempting to call by holding it up in the air like he's trying to contact aliens. Ava laughs at the thought.

Her giggle causes some dirt to shift under her. A soft wind swirls and her mouth turns up into a smile. She watches it, at first it hangs out near her and circles her tickling her. She giggles, causing Derek to look. He smiles at her and the magical wind freezes in place. He turns back and continues to look for a way out. Magic swirls kick up dirt and some leaves on the ground, then it races towards Derek. Just when she thinks Derek will step back and crush the wind with his giant feet, the wind makes an arrow towards a small opening between the trees.

"Derek!"

Ava leaps to her feet and runs towards the spot she saw the magical wind go.

"Woah," Derek says, stopping her before she can get any closer.

"Over there," she shouts, pointing.

Derek's eyes follow her finger and sure enough in the very far corner of the branches is a small opening big enough for both of them to slip through. Derek has no idea how he didn't see it himself.

"You're an amazing little girl, you know that?" he asks.

"So I've been told," she says with a smirk.

Derek gathers his backpack as Ava finishes off her M&M's.

"Let's go home," Derek says with a relieved smile.
