Prologue

I sighed under my see-through umbrella as I looked up at the sky.

It's raining cats and dogs. Although the wind wasn't strong, I felt like the hard pounding of the rain will break my umbrella. I hate rain. It always feels so gloomy and sulky. The humidity frizzes up my hair, I never get to do anything outside, and the traffic is terrible. It's like God's tears, crying for how sinful and terrible this world is.

I walked into the high school grounds and went towards the gym. While doing so, I started to feel the wet, dirty shoelaces slapping my ankles. I groaned and knelt down, making sure not to have my knees touching the ground, to retie them.

Most of all, I loathe the feeling of mud and water soaked shoelaces.

Suddenly, I felt a foot get caught underneath mine.  Unbalanced from being in an unstable position, I fell forward. I stopped myself with my hands before before I face plant into the ground . A cool voice spoke above me.

"Sorry, I didn't notice you were there. You okay?" His amused tone made me know that he was playing me.

Calm down, Madeleine. I just need to calm down. I breathed in and out. I pushed myself off the ground and stood up, smiling brightly at the guy who tripped me.

"I'm fine. Although..." I took a long stare at face and body. His silver hair slightly covered his cat like eyes that were a mixed color of dark blue and black with gold flecks, and he had a straight nose and perfect full lips. I scrutinized at his well built, tall body and tanned model-like skin.

How do you even wear short sleeves in this weather? The friend that he seem to be talking to snickered. I glanced at him and raised an eyebrow. He shut his mouth and looked away. I looked back at the boy who tripped me, staring at his pure white shirt. The rain started to die down too. I took this moment as petty as I am, the perfect payback.

"Can I ask if you could be my test canvas?" I continued from where I left off. I wiped my hands off his shirt in a "artistic" way. I took my pair of thumbs and pointer fingers into a mini frame. I knew I was suppose to calm down. I knew I was adding fuel to the fire. I did it anyways.

"Good enough." I shrugged. I picked up my umbrella that collected rain and left them behind.

As Madeleine walked away, the boy who tripped her started to grin. His friend gave him a weird look.

"Why are you smiling with your shirt all dirty? I'd really give a penny for your thoughts." He shrugged.

"It's fine. I could make her pay back by buying me a lunch." The friend was shocked at his words.

"That's a mere slap on the wrist! Why would you, the most popular person in this school and practically world known, just make her buy you a lunch for ruining your expensive shirt? In fact, I wonder if she even knows you're the great Raymond Ameyamizu." Raymond continued to walk forward to the gym, barely listening to what he was saying. He looked back down at his messed-up shirt.

"Her sense of art is actually pretty good." He mumbled to himself. His friend ran after him, splashing in every puddle along the way.

"Did you say something?" he called out.

"No." Every step he took, his interest of that girl grew.
