"You had that dream again, didn't you?"
-
He held her close to his body when he woke up to his crying wife, trying to comfort her as tears spilled from her eyes. At the moment, she was unable to even speak, overwhelmed by what she had seen in that dream. It all felt so real to her. She could feel Yo's hatred towards them and the desperation of his other brothers to help them. But in the end it was all of no use. Wang Eun and Park Hak Soon had been slain by the king in power who was no longer Taejo, or crown Prince Wang Mu. It had to be several years into the future if he was the one to rule.
When she managed to calm down, her husband asked her, "You had that dream again, didn't you?" He had pulled away from her just a moment to read in the look on her face. She was terrified, her face soaked with tears.
Each time she had the dream, she would wake up a crying mess, clinging onto him for dear life. That was how she was now, her hands desperately grabbing at the material of his sleeping gown in fists. Her tears were beginning to soak the front of his gown. Minji had told him from the start what the nightmares were about--them being sought out like criminals by the palace guards and being taken into the court yard where so many times they had all had breakfast together. In her dreams it was all but a friendly visit like the ones they used to have. She told him of Yo, and how he had become king, and how he wanted them dead. How he had sent the guards to find them and bring them to him.
Eun was skeptical about her dreams when she told him about them. It wasn't that he thought she was lying, or that he didn't trust her. But Yo was his brother, one of his closest ones. He and eight others had all grown up together in the palace and were around the same age ranges. He thought that had to count for something. Yo had to think of their past bond growing up together under the same roof. He had to have at least some love for him and the other princes.
Still, he gave Minji the comfort she needed and held her in his arms until she felt better.
"It was just a bad dream." He told her, his voice gentle and soothing as he held her in his arms.
They remained in their bed together until the maids came in to help them with their morning routine. But Minji was still in shock over the events of the dream and wanted to keep Eun close to her. It was then that she decided to stop lingering in her feelings for Jung and embrace her marriage to the tenth prince.
He truly seemed to care for her, while she was still secretly holding feelings and pining over his younger brother. It was unfair to him and he deserved so much better than that. Minji decided she would make an effort to love him like he wanted. Perhaps in the end she would still not fall in love with him, but she would at least give it a try. The thought of losing him was too painful to bear and she knew from that that she at least had to like him a little bit.
There was a knock on their bedroom door, followed by the voice of one of the maids calling out to them. "Prince Eun...are you and your wife ready for us to come in?" Her small voice came from outside. It always bothered Minji that he was called by his own name, while she was just his wife. Like she wasn't her own person.
But she didn't have time for it to bother her too much, or for her to think about it then. Before her husband could speak, giving them permission to let them into the room, Minji placed her index finger over his lips to silence him. He watched her with curiosity as she replied to them instead. "Please take the day off and come back tomorrow." She instructed them, her voice was already calmed from her earlier crying. "I will personally take care of my husbands needs today."
The servants waiting outside their door nodded and she heard their footsteps fade as they walked away.
Minji sat up in their bed and when she felt the burn of his eyes on her, she turned in his general direction to explain. "I want it to be just us two today, love. Enjoying each other's company. I really think we need a day like that." Without having to run into Jung, without the king dropping by and showing his disdain for her. A day where she would only be with her husband.
She just wanted to lay around in their bed together, in each other's arms and get up just to eat, shower and get ready for bed again that night. He smiled at her, liking the idea of her being the only person he would see that day. It was a pleasant thought and he thought to himself that he wouldn't mind if they did that often.
"Are you hungry, love?" She asked him, a smile forming on her lips at the question. "I'll make us something to eat and then we can come back to bed."
It was time for her to forget about Jung. For her sake, for his sake, and for Eun's sake.

They spent a lazy day in bed together, with no one bothering them, and they made conversation easily. Minji told him things about her life, the details that wouldn't sound strange to someone living in the Goryeo era. She told him little stories of her growing up, leaving some details out, and he did the same. But some of her stories included her in them, except it was the real Park Hak Soon.
"I think you used to have a crush on me." He informed her, matter of factly, with a cute little grin playing on his lips. His words were in between teasing, but also like he felt that what he was saying was the absolute truth.
Minji raised an eyebrow at him. "What makes you think so, love?" She asked him.
They were in their bed, cuddled up together and she had taken his hand in hers, tracing over his long and delicate fingers absently. His hands were soft and it was evident that he had never worked a day in his life, and she subconsciously thought that it must feel nice to have his fingers grazing over her skin. She shook the thought away as her cheeks were tinted in a light blush.
"When we were kids, I always say you staring at me, and following me around." He explained to her, memories rushing back to him.
"Are you sure that wasn't my sister?" Minji pointed out.
Soon Deok was known to follow Eun around and watch him from afar, almost in an obsessive way. But it was understandable because she liked him and was too shy to let him know.
The tenth prince shook his head.
"I'm certain it was you." He assured her. He then continued to tell her a story, but as he started to tell it, his smile dropped an octave. "One time Jung-ah got really mad at me because we all went to the village market with Ji Mong, and I thought it would be funny to leave you behind. You were four and I was seven. Jung-ah was five and he was fuming when I told him I left you behind as a joke. I think he's always liked you." He couldn't help but feel jealous of the fact that they had always liked each other, ever since they were children.
"That's so mean, love." Minji jutted her bottom lip out into a pout.
"You got your revenge." He said, and he found it a bit strange that she didn't remember that story, since she had been there as well. To her, she was hearing it for the first time. "When Ji Mong and the rest of us went back to find you, the first time you did when you saw me was to throw a fist at me."
Minji found herself giggling at that.
"That's why you and I didn't get along before. That one joke was what caused everything." He finished, voice full of amusement.
"So I beat you up." She concluded, her light laugh filling his ears. "Just like that other time we were play fighting and I pinned you down."
"I don't know about that." Eun said, starting to feel a spark of competitiveness within him.
Before he knew it and before he could react, Minji shifted from beside him in a flash and climbed on top of him, pinning him down under her weight. The tips of her long hair ticked his face as she leaned over him.
"I win." She declared with a grin.
"That's unfair." He whined underneath her, his hands finding their way and settling on her waist. "You always cheat and take me by surprise."
Minji felt her heart rate speed up as she felt his hands on her body, igniting her skin like flames. She bit down on her lip as she mulled over the thought of finally taking things a step further with her husband, going all the way. His eyes stared at her plump lips hungrily, craving so much for her to lean in and kiss him. As she settled down more against him, he could feel a strain in his pants, which was something he had never taken notice of before. It was only there in the mornings, when he woke up holding her in his arms, but it always went away eventually.
She finally leaned in to kiss him, her trembling hands moving upwards slowly to undo the knot that held his sleeping gown tied together, concealing his smooth skin beneath it. As she undid it, Eun gasped against her lips, a bit surprised that she was going for it without warning. But he relaxed against her lips quickly, his own hands searching to do the same and get their clothes out of the way. Again, Minji felt like she was at a disadvantage. She couldn't see what she was doing, and he could. But he had a disadvantage of his own, that he didn't know what he was doing, so he instead mirrored her actions.
When she could feel his smooth skin beneath the pads of her fingers, she pulled away from him.
"Love..." She called in a raspy voice, gulping back when she felt like her throat had gone dry. She was now hovering over him, skin to skin, and she could hear the nervous breathing of her husband beneath her. "Don't pass out and let me know if you want me to stop." If there wasn't an actual chance that he would really pass out from being overwhelmed, she would have found her words to be amusing.
"I want this." He told her shakily, eyes drinking in every inch of her, wondering how he had been blessed in such a way to have her. She was so lovely, and so beautiful, while he was convinced that no one would have him. He was nowhere near her level. Just a little prince who had forced a pretty noble to stay by his side. Whenever he didn't know what to do, he settled for placing his hands on her waist. Minji had been right, his fingers dancing across her skin were absolute bliss. "I want to feel you, jagi."
Minji sat back against him, exhaling as she felt herself being filled up, and she pressed her lips against his. After months of being married, the two teenagers had finally been able to consummate their marriage. Minji had been trying to put it off for as long as possible because she still felt a loyalty to Jung in her heart. But she also had a loyalty to her husband, and they had finally become one.
