Chapter Nine Labyrinth of Illegal

Masako's POV

Hiro boosted me and Emi up with his hands, and then I pulled him up. We snuck through the dark corridors avoiding any conflict with the enemy. For now. Since it was very dark, the only thing that helped me see, were my shaded goggles that acted like fishing glasses. Emi clutched onto my and Hiro's sleeves scaredly. She shouldn't have come. But I guess we have no choice. Plus I was the one who brought her up.

"This is Hyosuke. Go into the vent on the next right you take." Hyosuke said quietly. When we took a right, there was a dead end with a vent on the top of the wall. Hiro boosted me up, and I pulled him and Emi up. We continued to crawl with me in the front.

"Masako coming in. Where do we go next?" I asked.

"Takuto here. Go to the next opening of a vent you see. It will be below you." replied Takuto. I nodded, and soon enough, there was an opening. I backed uo with Emi to let Hiro through first. He jumped down and landed quietly. Hiro motioned fir Emi to jump down. She did as he wanted her to and landed in his arms. I did the same, except, his arms wavered a little when I landed in them princess style. A-ah! My face turned red. He smirked, let me down, and lead us to the left stairs down. The temperature dropped about ten degrees (from seventy to sixty), and Emi shivered. I gave her a towel i kept in my bag and she draped it on her shoulders. Despite the sudden change in area and temperature, Hiro kept pushing on through the never ending maze.

"Where to next?" asked Hiro.

"Right hallway, go through the room, and you'll be in an empty room. No traps, but watch out for an ambush." hissed Takuto.

"Got it." I replied. We reached the room in less than ten minutes, opened the door, and Hiro and I raised our guns. We glanced at eachother and then looked all around. I found fifteen syringes with some kind of strong smelling liquid in it, most likely a sleeping inducing drug, and handed one to Hiro who took it gratefully. I also grabbed a pair of scissors. Then, we heard footsteps and loud voices breaking the silence. Hiro ran over behind a broken cabinet, and I dragged Emi by the hand to hurry her over. She was so scared, she was chattering, so i covered her mouth. Hiro crouched in front of us stealthily and pointed his gun at the unfamiliar men. He then lightly put his gun on thr ground, grabbed a brick, and chucked it all the way across the room which made it make a loud crashing noise. The men hurried over to the other side of the room. "Nice job." I complimented with a smirk. He winked at me and we both ran quietly to the other side of the room and covered the mouths of the men and stabbed them in the arms with our syringes. Emi followed close behind. The men fell to the ground sleeping.

"Alright Hyosuke, what now-" BANG! A loud gunshot soumded from the back of the room and shot Hiro's tranciever off breaking it in half. "Dammit! Hide!" We ran in seperate directions for cover, Emi being with Hiro. I took out my gun.

"Riki! Where are you guys?" I asked frantically, but quietly.

"I heard a gunshot. We're not surrounded, but I can hear people in another hallway." Riki replied through the tranciever.

I kept shooting and ducking. This isn't working! We're just shooting blindly! "Should we retreat?" I asked.

"On my cue, go out the window on your side. We'll meet you at the back of the house." he replied. Gunshits kept firing. "Three..." A bullet hit the cabinet I was hiding behind. "Two..." A bullet scraped my arm as the enemy started walking forwards slightly. "One!" I bust through the window about one foot from the ground and ran through it. Don't stop running! I sped up my pace as I heard an angry man scream.

"You two alright?" I asked. No reply. Oh shit, his broke. Doesn't Emi have one? "Emi! This is Masako! Are you two alright?"

"Aaaah!" screamed a voice in my ear and throughout the area. It was high pitched and sounded like it belonged to a child. I halted suddenly and gasped looking around. Is she alright?! Where is Hiro?! I ran faster towards the back of the house and widened my eyes at the scene. Hiro was fighting with five men, and by the looks of it, he wasn't winning. He lookedtired, and there was a bruise right beside his eye. He was bleeding on his side most likely from being ambushed by the enemy in the large room. Emi stood behind him looking terrified. I got out my syringe and snuck behind one man.

"Not as tough now hm? You were strong, but you ran out of energy. Poor kid!" jeered a man. He hit Hiro right in the chest causing him to fall backwards. Stay calm... Don't let anger control you... Right as he turned around, I stabbed him the neck with the syringe, and he fell over. The other four men looked at me and glared. I glared and smirked back.

"Poor kid? He probably has enough money to buy all of your houses!" I sneered pulling out my gun. They looked angry and pulled out knives.

"Little lady, you better watch yer mouth..." mumbled one. Even though I was nervous, I kept a smirk on my face. Hiro pushed himself off the ground and knocked down two men with one swift kick. Two men left... I stood back to back with Hiro and got into fighting position.

"Got beat up huh?" I asked glancing at Emi who was sobbing from fear.

"Haha, yeah." he said. "I can take these two." I nodded and watched him take them down quickly. As soon as they were all knocked cold, he collapsed to his knees.

"H-Hiro?!" I held his back up with my arm. "Hey, don't sleep!" I yelled panickedly. But then, he stuck out his tongue and went cross eyed. I screamed and dropped him while he laughed. "What the hell?! You scared me dammit!" Emi was crying as she ran up to Hiro's side.

"Haha, sorry!" Hiro sang. "Ow!" he yelped as I punched him in the arm.

"Yah jerk!" I hissed helping him off of the ground. "Emi, get the other side of him." She sniffled, nodded, and put her arm around his waist as I put his arm around my shoulder. We started walking forwards. "Takuto, you there?"

"Yeah. Head into the basement now to meet up with the rest of us. Go left into the fifth window and turn right. There will be a staircase leafing down." he replied.

"Got it." I replied following his directions. Fifth window... Turn right...... After ten minutes of running, we finally reached our destination. I could see the others. They were standing in some kind of fighting stance in a circle, Riki facing us. Uh oh... Something's wrong...

"Riki?" asked Emi. Riki turned looked up and widened his eyes. His face was twisted with fear and anger.

"Move!" he yelled. A screeching noise got louder as I stepped forwards to run, but a clear glass door closed downwards and seperated us from the others. I banged my fist on the glass, but it was no use. By the looks on their faces, I knew it was over.
