"Hello, I have an appointment with Hayushi-sama." You addressed the secretary, using the most formal address for the CEO (name courtesy of Feitan, of course). It seemed that this company could speak your language, being a world-wide corporation.
"You are not in the appointment book." The voice of the executive assistant told you he didn't even bother to look up from his station.
"It's not a... publicly known... appointment." You leaned over further on the desk, highlighting whatever assets you had. "If you understand." There was a pause in the typing. "I still charge for missed appointments, so if you say so, I will happily take my leave..." You turned, but were interrupted by a clearing of the throat.
"Go straight back to the main office. He's there."
You know it will be approximately twenty-five minutes before Feitan is ready for the final step of the plan. Five minutes to get to the desk-- complete. Ten minutes to get past the executive assistant-- complete with time to spare. Five minutes plus leftover time to convince the CEO to hand over the stone. And lastly, five minutes to meet in the arranged place. Maybe another minute or so, depending on how much resistance he gave you. Given that you've opted to go on your first heist without a seeing partner -- a foolish decision on your part, you realized now that finding the door was hard enough -- you have to find a way to convince the boss that you were legitimate. Should be enough enough time for you to figure it out anyway, you figured.
And so you knocked and waited.
"Come in," The CEO called, adding only the slightest lilt to the end of the phrase. You feel for the door's lever and open. Walking in, you walk until you are only a few feet from the aura you saw and your feet faced the window behind them. The cuffs don't get in the way of that, at least. "What business do you have with me?"
"I'm here to check composition of your onyx slabs, sir."
"Why would I want that?" The tone had the same dismissive quality of the assistant's voice earlier.
"Our quality assurance agency has been getting reports of a large import of a variety of fake stones. It impacts all the honest companies. So, here I am, to ensure that if your shipment has been tampered with, it is replaced at no cost to you."
"Oh?" The tone changed to more concerned. "Stones like onyx and other large quantities? Or smaller ones as well?"
"My agency has sent me down here for the onyx specifically, but I can certainly take a look at something small if you are concerned about it."
"I could pay, if necessary." The voice stood up. "You see, I just recently acquired a new stone. I was going to have it outfitted as a center piece on my desk, but just in case..." There was a clattering of desks and knobs and then silence. "Aren't you going to take it?"
"I am blind," You nearly laugh, his verdant aura flashing with irritation. "It is not a joke, I assure you. Being in a position, such as your own, you are aware of Nen." It was not a question, but you paused as if it was one. "My Nen allows me to see objects perfectly. Even a fleck of quartz in a pound of opal."
"Great. Then it will only take a minute."
"The catch is, however," You held up a hand, "I need water to be able to see. And seeing, if you excuse the unintended pun, as this is not a room with running water, I will have to take any and all stones with me."
"The majority of the onyx is not stored here. I only have the sample slab--"
"Which is fine. The sample is chipped off the main shipment upon arrival. If it is fake, then so is the rest. You need only point me in the direction of the nearest private restroom or room with water. It will then 'only take a minute'."
