13: No One Cares (The Second Meeting)
You woke up slowly: groggy and sore. The aura next to you was extremely familiar, but there was at least eight unknown auras... and one other that was really exciting to feel. That is, until you faintly heard the sound of tools hitting against something which you guessed was more metal. You were trying to remember what happened prior to this but your mind was still a little... cloudy. The figure next to you spoke, "Awake? Good..." but you still weren't registering his words. You knew you should have been panicking but you weren't, yet, which bothered you because there was good reason that you should feel fear and panic. In a strange place, blind, and with mostly strangers... not a good look. Your eyes caught the figure moving before a dim light turned on making you blink several times from the light. You squinted at first trying to saw your surroundings, your vision was finally becoming focused and the fog was lifting from your mind. The first thing that registered in your head was the filth You were surrounded by, the slight chill in the air seeping in from a broken window near you and the smell of bleach in the air which burned your nose and eye.
You gazed emptily at the ceiling, your eyes narrowing in confusion before asking a question, "Machi... Where am I?"
The man next to you smelled clean but you could smell what he was holding; something that had blood dried on it. Machi seemed to be ignoring your question but you weren't sure if she didn't hear it or even if had you said it in the first place. You weren't even sure you were awake right now—if you were, how could Machi and Feitan be in the same room? You continued to listen quietly.
"What do we do with her, Danchou?" The man next to you, spoke.
"Nothing." An imposing voice gently rumbled over the group. "Nobunaga, step back. I have some questions I'd like to ask. I'm sure you sharpening your sword isn't going to help anyone hear." There was a shuffling of steps, and the voice was suddenly closer to you. "My name is Chrollo, what is your name?"
As you tried to translate in your head, you realized that you didn't have full control of your limbs. You were tied to a chair, which you felt was unnecessary. Especially considering the circumstances. You felt that fear and panic rise from the pit of your stomach making you want to vomit and question after question entered your mind.
"M-My name—"
"Just call her little sister. That's what I do." Machi interrupted. "She doesn't even respond if you use that old moniker my mother plopped on her."
"Little Sister... sure. Why not?" Chrollo chuckled. "So, Little, I hear you've got some special nen."
You paused, to see if Machi would answer for you. And luckily, she did. "She uses the rain to see. It's not developed, so there's not any particular use right now besides as a compensation for her disability."
Feitan clicked his tongue and narrowed his eyes at me, "You no let sister talk. You no her."
Your eyes widened as your heart thumped slowly against your chest, it was definitely him. "What do you mean?" Chrollo asked. "Machi should know all about her own sister. What does it matter who talks?"
Feitan came close to you, making your heart beat even harder, "Why do you let her speak for you?" He asked in your shared language. "Are you embarrassed about your voice? I am the same as you. No one says anything. No one cares."
"Exactly," You whispered. "No one cares."
