Chapter 3: Sparks

As the elevator ascends the facility, I found myself looking out of its glass. When I looked, I found I was deep underwater. I was so deep I could only see darkness. For my view to be this dark, I must be near the ocean floor. Why put a research facility this deep in the ocean? Isn't that impractical? There must be something here that the researchers didn't want to be seen. What was it? Was it the virus? I need answers. There must be a reason why this facility is so deep underwater. Maybe I can find the answers, but I would have to scour this entire facility. And that is something I can't do.

In front of me, the elevator doors opened. My vision flooded by a sea of red light. When I step outside, a sudden chill hits my skin sending goose bumps up my arms. In front of me extends a hallway. Every door but one locked. A light extends from the unlocked door. Quietly I step towards it, weary of the constant threat of infected and death. Please don't let there be any zombies! Please! And just as I arrive toward the room a strange site greets me.

Papers litter the ground; on these papers were details of an experiment. I bend down to pick up the paper. It details an experiment conducted with a virus dubbed "B-Virus". The victim of it looked like one of those zombies. That must be what they dealt with here! No wonder why this facility is underwater. They wanted to hide their experiments with the "B-Virus". The virus must have gotten out and infected the staff.

But that man...was he a part of the research staff too? Most infected who were apart of the staff wear lab coats. The man wears instead a purple trench coat with weird symbols. But if he wasn't part of the staff, who is he? There must be an explanation. I go back out of the room and just as I step out, all the doors open at once. I want to go into those other rooms but several moans come to my ears at once. It that what I think it is? Oh no! Not this again! Why is it that I can't have two seconds to myself? Zombies come crawling out of all the rooms at once. Oh no! Another horde. I've got to run! But my escape is blocked. Another horde comes down the hall. I've got nothing to defend myself with! I'm done for. So I just back up in a corner and prepare for the oncoming infection. But instead of getting infected, sparks start to burn away the horde. My powers! I must have forgotten about them. Well then again, when you're constantly running for your life it gets easy to forget stuff. In mere seconds, the whole horde has been burned to a crisp. The sudden inflow of power is now gone. Instead what flows through me is an inescapable feeling of exhaustion. My body collapses, as it does a liquid starts to rain down from the ceiling. Darkness surrounds my vision until I can't see anymore.
