Chapter 9: An old friend
A/N: You want more? I give you more
(Normal pov— Tail Nation)
The sun bore down upon the sweltering sands of Tail Nation as if lighting the earth below on fire. Yet the intense heat was nothing to those who live in Kumandra. A group of riders from Fang rode their cats through Tail's desert in search of the thief who stole Fang's dragon scroll. One of the riders noticed something illuminating in the sand the moment they rode past it, they then urged their cat to turn around and investigate what the object was. Sliding off their cat, the rider took a wide gilded hair ring out of the sand and gave it a look over. The hair ring in the rider's hand was one of familiarity, it had once belonged to one the rider held close to her heart.
"Princess Namaari, what did you find?"
Namaari, princess of Fang Nation looked up at her friends and showed them the gilded hair ring. "This belonged to Raya when she was twelve summers old," Namaari held the ring to her cat's nose and the deadly, predatory feline took several whiffs and soon picked up Raya's scent on the ring before looking to the east. "We have Raya's scent, let's go."
"With respect, how do we even know that it is Raya? For all we know, Benja's daughter could be stone by now—"
In the blink of an eye, Namaari had drawn out one of her two swords and pointed it at her friends' throat, causing them to inhale sharply and hold their breath. The rest of the Fang riders who were either eighteen or twenty summers old didn't say a word as they watched their princess.
"Raya is out there Duong, I know it," Namaari said firmly. "Do you doubt me?"
Duong shook his head and breathed out. "I meant no offense, Namaari, I merely state possibility," he then continued. "The Druun are out there and although their activity in light of day is limited, they still roam all of Kumandra." Sighing, Namaari removed her blade from Duong's throat and he placed a hand there, caressing the spot where her blade was and let out a breath of relief. "Forgive me, princess."
"No, forgive me," she said genuinely. "This was never supposed to happen; we were supposed to have the Dragon Gem intact, the Druun wasn't meant to be unleashed upon our lands once more, and... Heart's rulers weren't meant to meet the fates they met." The sounds of war horns and dragon roars suddenly filled the air, causing the young Fang riders to look to where the sounds were coming from.
"What was that?"
"An army is out here, why?"
"Could it be...?"
Namaari recognized the horns sounding as they filled her ears once again, she then turned to her friends and let out a shaky breath.
"It's Drago. He has returned."
The Northern Alliance was on the march, the tens of thousands of warriors and armored dragons under Drago's command treaded through the sweltering desert. Among the warriors and dragons was a massive siege engine, which served not only as the prize war machine in Drago's arsenal but also as a moving fortress. It was created by architects from Damascus, this moving fortress was made from Buloke wood, and dragon-proof metal was attached to further reinforce it. For defensive capabilities, it was equipped with cannons, razor net launchers, catapults, as well as Hwacha arrow launchers. This architectural monster moved through the desert like a predator on the prowl, in a way it was. Drago was after the gem pieces, and if he acquired all of them, he would not only destroy the Druun, but also bring back every dragon that are now either mindless monsters under the Druun's thralldom or reduced to stone statues.
Drago himself stood at the bridge of his siege engine, he and his army were nearing a possible location where Tail had hid their gem piece. Whilst looking out towards the horizon, the madman noted a cloud of dust at his left and several specs moving fast. Extending a hand, one of his men gave him a glass to see what it was. Humming, Drago noted the nomads on the move were Fang warriors, and a familiar face was among them. The madman then ordered his army to halt, the siege engine came to halt as well, and the whole Northern Alliance was now faced with these Fang riders. Approaching footsteps came from behind Drago, revealing his warlords.
"Are we under attack?"
"No," Drago narrowed his eyes before continuing. "They wish to break words."
"I voice concern in this—"
"If these young warriors are foolish enough to attack me, they condemn their people and culture to death," Drago smirked. "Remain here. I will have words with Princess Namaari." As the madman descended from his siege engine, he approached the group of young Fang warriors including the princess. Nodding in greetings, Drago smirked. "A pleasure to see you again, Princess Namaari."
"I wish I could say the same, Drago," Namaari said before looking at the massive army before her; man and dragon stood at the ready, should Fang's warriors show any aggression towards their leader, they would be killed on the spot. "Why are you in Tail Nation?" Namaari inquired. "Shouldn't you be in Fang Nation, broaching business with my mother?"
"All in good time," Drago reassured her. "My spies have informed me that the Dragon Gem was shattered, resulting in the Druun being unleashed upon your lands once again. Virana has failed me in delivering the gem intact."
"Drago—"
"I do not suffer failure, Princess Namaari," the warlord said firmly. "You and your mother had a simple task: you and your people were to attend Chief Benja's invitation of unity and while his back was turned, you were to take the Dragon Gem and wait for my return and deliver it to me intact. Yet here we are."
"With respect, we did as you instructed to the letter. The other nations, however, saw an opportunity to take the Dragon Gem for themselves as well. And... the situation escalated and we now find ourselves here."
"And what does that say about you?" Drago challenged, bearing his teeth. "You give me excuses when you could not complete a very simple task. Perhaps I will return to Fang Nation and merely raze it to the ground for your incompetence—"
Namaari drew a sword and pointed it at Drago, the army behind the madman all assumed battle formations, every weapon in their arsenal was pointed at Fang's princess. Drago merely laughed at the princess and gave her a taunting look. "What will you do? Kill me, and your people will be wiped off the face of this world. But if you and people swear loyalty to me, you will rule over all of Kumandra. You will flourish and prosper, but only if you cease your hostility and swear fealty to me," he then gestured behind him. "Refuse, and you and those by your side will die on the spot. Your arrow-riddled corpses will serve as both a message and a warning to your people; join me or die." Pressing her blade harder against the madman's throat, Namaari bore her cat-like fangs and gave the man before her a murderous gaze. Drago killed her father, and since that day the shadow of this madman and his hordes of man and dragons has terrified Fang Nation, they were a strong people, yes. But Drago and his people were stronger.
"Namaari, you will condemn Fang Nation to death if you do this. Think of your mother, our people, and our home."
Turning to both her cousin and closet friend, Somwang, Fang's princess let out a shaky breath before looking back to Drago. The madman had a smug smirk on his face, and Namaari wanted nothing more than to flay that arrogant look off his hideous face. Despite the intense urge to strike Drago down, Namaari remembered the words of her mother ringing in her head.
"You must make smart decisions in this life Namaari, not emotional ones. Especially if our people and way of life are at stake."
That caused Namaari to lower her sword, Drago chuckled and retorted. "Perhaps you're not as strong as I believed you to be. You had the opportunity to avenge not just those who perished in Fang all those years ago, but also to avenge your father. What would your father think of you?" Namaari visibly tensed and inhaled sharply, Drago was baiting her to finish what she started. But she wouldn't rise and take his bait.
"He would be proud that I chose to make a smart choice by not killing you and sparing our people from utter annihilation," Namaari snarled out. "Your time will come Drago, and I hope I'm here to see you fall."
Chuckling darkly, Drago shook his head. "I wouldn't count on it, child," the madman then gestured towards the desert and noticed a massive ravine ahead. "Perhaps you can rectify the mistake you and your mother made by helping me acquire the remaining gem pieces."
"I'll consider it—"
"You misunderstand, I wasn't asking, you will lend aid in bringing back what I want," Drago said firmly before turning to his army. "Move out!" The army began to march and the Bewilderbeast under the madman's command unleashed a mighty roar, ordering the dragons to take to the air. Namaari and her companions laid eyes on the muddy Bewilderbeast with shock and awe, never seeing a dragon before in their lives. Something cold and sharp touched Namaari's throat, causing her to hold her breath and see Drago was pointing the tip of his bullhook at her. "Ride ahead and bring me Tail Nations gem piece. Fail me, and the consequences will be most... bloody." Removing his bullhook from her neck, Drago permitted them to leave. Once the young group of Fang riders took off, Drago looked to his army of man and dragon and smirked.
Kumandra had many warriors, he would give them the same choice as he gave Princess Namaari.
Join him or be wiped off the face of the world.
Upon reaching the site where Tail Nation kept its gem piece, Raya slid off of Tuk Tuk and caressed her furry companion's head, causing him to sigh in contentment. Hiccup too slid off and stretched his stiff muscles with a groan. Sisu approached Hiccup and gave him a sympathetic look, causing the Viking to give her a questioning look.
"What is it? Spit it out."
"I can't imagine how it must be for you to have lost your entire family, your people, culture, and world because of one man. I'm sorry."
Snorting, Hiccup kicked a pebble with his peg leg and shrugged. "What's done is done, and no matter how many times I see their faces in my sleep or hear their voices, those I love are dead," letting out a sigh, Hiccup's hands clenched into fists. "The only way this ends is with Drago meeting a gruesome fate by my hand. But until then, we can't let him get these gem pieces." Turning to Raya, the Viking gestured to what appeared to be a trap before them. "How do we not get killed here?"
"Don't trip one of the ropes," Raya said as she went first. "Try and keep up." She challenged with a playful smirk towards Hiccup, causing the Viking to snort lightly and follow Raya's movements. Both young dragon sympathizers made it to the other side of the booby-trapped field and then turned to Sisu. And in the blink of an eye, the dragon was by their side, leaving both Hiccup and Raya speechless.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Chuckling, Raya shook her head. "Nothing. I'm just not used to seeing dragons," she then gave the dragon praise. "You moved in the blink of an eye, that was impressive!"
"Mmm," humming in agreement, Hiccup then turned to Raya. "Let's get that gem piece, we can praise Sisu later."
"Right. This way."
The trio soon made their way inside the structure that held Tail Nations gem piece, Hiccup kept his guard up and kept his eyes open. He couldn't place his finger on it, but Hiccup had a feeling in his gut that whatever it was he thought he saw in the sky at the shipwreck was something that had to do with Drago. He then recalled Krogan and his Dragon Flyers, at the time he didn't know they were associated with Drago and his army, but he remembered seeing the emblem of the Northern Alliance on their belt buckles; the skull of a Monstrous Nightmare with a sword going down the middle of it. If Drago had dispatched Dragon Flyers after him, Hiccup knew that it was only a matter of time before the madman himself discovered that it was him to sabotage one of his warships and liberated all the armored dragons housed within that vessel.
"Oh, no!"
"What? What is it?"
Sisu and Raya exclaimed, pulling Hiccup out of his thoughts and causing the vengeful Viking to turn to his female companions.
"We forgot to bring a gift for the Tail chief."
"I'm sorry. A gift?"
"Yes. A gift says, 'You can trust me, can I trust you?'" A rather large bug landed between Sisu's eyes, causing the dragon to gasp in surprise, but she then took hold of it and smiled. "Why hello there," the bug turned its backside began to glow, causing the dragon to laugh. "This beatle has a backside."
"Uh... careful. It's a Toot N Boom."
"A Toot N Boom?" Hiccup snorted out. "I thought my people had strange names for creatures."
"Why is it called a—"
The insect in Sisu's paws released a toot, Raya quickly grabbed the dragon's paws and shielded her as the toot in the air imploded. Hiccup too shielded himself, but thankfully none of the trios were injured.
"Ah, so that's why you call those beatles Toot N Boom's," Sisu said in understanding. "I understand now." The dragon then looked to a narrow hallway that held hundreds of these bugs, she then looked to Raya and gave her a questioning look. "Do we risk crossing this passage?"
"Yes," Raya quickly dusted herself off and helped Sisu up. "It's the only way to reach the gem piece."
"Of course it is," Hiccup sighed out before deciding to take the first step. "I'll go first." He then moved carefully and was mindful not to touch any of the bugs, if he did, then all the others would release their toots and could either distort him or kill him.
"I must admit, these bugs' backsides are quite appealing."
Not even bothering with retorting the dragon's strange words, Hiccup reached the end of the passageway and entered a chamber and in the center of the chamber was a tree and skeleton that held a piece of the Dragon Gem. Waiting for his female companions, Hiccup and Raya shared a look before Heart's princess then hummed. "I'd say we found Tail Nation's chief," she then added. "And by the looks of it, she was hoarding the gem and became a victim of her own traps." The trio approached the severed remains of what once was a bridge that led straight across and looked down to see hundreds of sharp rocks sticking up. Falling could lead to a very gruesome and excruciating death. Raya then aimed her sword at the top of the chamber and before Hiccup could inquire what she was doing, he was speechless when her sword fired itself and then embedded itself in the roof above, severing as a way to cross the gorge.
An impressive sword, to say the least, Hiccup reminded himself to ask how such a weapon was made.
"Alright, let's swing across."
Sisu held onto Raya, and Hiccup climbed on top of the dragons back. Taking a deep breath, Raya swung and carried her two companions, unfortunately, both Hiccup and Sisu's combined weight caused the sword to dislodge itself from the chamber roof and the three fell, thankfully on the other side of the gorge, leaving the three of them unharmed. Getting up, Hiccup helped Raya up and she nodded in thanks before looking to Sisu, who was about to grab the gem piece.
"Sisu, don't."
Taking a thin stick, Raya snapped it in half and gently placed one of the sticks on the skeletal forearm of Tail Nation's deceased chief. Groaning from rope could be heard above them, Hiccup looked up to see the rope was connected to a trap that was keeping tarp in place on the roof, right where they had just came in. Looking to Raya, Hiccup pursed his lips as he watched Heart's princess carefully take the gem piece out of the skeletal hand. When no trap was activated a result, the trio relaxed and Raya turned to Sisu. "Two down, three to go," she then extended the gem piece to the dragon. "Let's see what magic you gain next." Placing the gem piece in Sisu's paws, the gem glowed and soon Sisu shrank and she let out a surprised cry. To both Hiccup and Raya's disbelief, Sisu had shape changed into a human.
"By the gods," Hiccup exhaled in awe, he knew that if Fishlegs or any of the other riders were by his side now, they would be freaking out. "I didn't think dragons could shapeshift."
"This is my sister Pranee's magical ability," Sisu explained with a wide grin. "Look at my human limbs, my face, and look how close my backside is to my head!" Looking to Raya, Sisu continued. "Now that you don't have to hide me, getting the rest of the gem pieces shouldn't be too much trouble."
"Yeah, well, this one was easy," Raya explained. "But the rest of them are being held by a bunch of now good binturis."
"Binturi?" The trio looked up to see a beautiful woman on top of a predatory cat looming over them on top of a sideline. "Now that's not a very nice way to describe an old friend, Raya." Leading her cat down to the chamber entrance, this woman and her companions had now trapped the trio within this chamber. Hiccup looked to Raya and noted she was tense, her face bore... betrayal, sadness, and immense anger towards this woman.
"Namaari."
Said woman smirked coyly at Heart's princess. "What's drippin' Dep La?" Looking to Sisu and Hiccup, Fang's princess snorted. "Oh, I see you've made new friends, a pretty little flower and... quite a handsome round eye foreigner," sliding off her cat, Namaari continued. "And here I was thinking you'd turn into a cat lady, like me." The cat Fang's princess release an intimidating roar, its pupils were thin slits and its fangs were bared.
"I assume you two aren't friends."
"We were," Raya replied to Sisu while still glaring murderous daggers at the woman who betrayed her heart, trust, and friendship. "But that was a long time ago."
The coy smirk that graced Namaari's face was now long gone, it was now replaced with a stern and demanding look. "Why are you stealing gem pieces, Raya?" Heart's princess didn't answer, causing Namaari to grunt before continuing. "I have to admit, Dep La, until a few months ago, I thought that you were stone or had become a mindless monster under the Druun's control. I'm... glad that isn't the case."
"Why? So you could kill me yourself?"
"I have no intention of killing you Raya," Namaari said softly, much to everybody's surprise, especially Raya. "No, I'm here to not only retrieve Fang's dragon scroll but Tail's gem piece." She then extended a hand. "Give them to me."
Raya tossed the dragon scroll to her former friend, Namaari then held her other hand. "Now, the gem piece," she then narrowed her eyes at Heart's princess. "Give it to me."
"I think not."
Namaari and Fang's riders turned to lay eyes on Askari of Ashes and his Dragon Flyers, the armored Singetail snarled and bore their razor-sharp teeth at the predatory cats, causing the felines to whimper in fear, back away, and lower their heads in submission to the superior predators. Dismounting his Singetail, Askari approached Namaari and scowled Fang's princess before looking across the gorge and introducing himself. "I am Askari of Ashes, head of the Dragon Flyers, under the command of Drago Bludvist," drawing out a sword, Askari pointed his blade at the trio on the other side of the gorge. "You have something my master wants, give it to me, and I promise to kill you and your companions quickly."
"I have a better idea," Hiccup said as he drew out two poisoned laced throwing knives. "Why don't you just die!" With the speed of lightning, Hiccup hurled his knives at two of the enemy flyers, striking them both in the chest and knocking them off their dragons.
All hell broke loose after that.
Raya used her whip sword to knock the skeletal arm of Tail's chief out of place, activating the trap above the group of Fang riders and Dragon Flyers. As sand poured down on top of the group, Raya then used her sword to grapple onto a nearby pillar, and she grabbed Sisu while Hiccup grabbed Raya's feet and the trio swung to the other side of the gorge. As sand kept pouring on top of their aggressors, Hiccup and Raya ran but then saw Sisu running on all fours, which made them slower.
"Not like that! Two legs!" Raya exclaimed to the dragon as she grabbed her by the sleeves of her robe. "Run!" The two females slid down the sand and once more made it into the hall that held the Toot N Boom swarm. Hiccup had already made it through without disturbing the swarm. As Raya and Sisu walked through the narrow passage, the sounds of Singetail roars and cat snarls filled the air, along with the frustrated and angry exclaims of the Fang riders and Dragon Flyers. Once making it through the narrow passage, Raya ran her hands through the bugs, disturbing them and causing them to release multiple toots and booms, slowing the enemy down for the time being. Once outside, the trio quickly saddled up on Tuk Tuk. Not even needing to be told, the large mammal began to roll and made his way towards a cliff in the ravine, falling a good way down before hitting the ground.
Now on the move, Hiccup turned around to see Askari and his flyers were now closing in, as was Namaari and her Fang riders. Pulling out his Gronckle Iron shield, Hiccup activated the crossbow mode and loaded an arrow, took aim, and let the arrow fly. The arrow struck one of the flyers, causing them to steer their Singetail into another of their fellow flyers and crash. Raya, not only impressed with Hiccup's aim with the bow, but also in awe at his ingenuity.
"Raya, who was that girl?"
"That's Namaari. She's the backstabbing binturi that broke the world."
Hiccup drowned out the female's chatter and remained focused on taking out their pursuers. After killing several more of the enemy flyers, Hiccup spotted a very familiar flyer. It was the same man he who first raped Astrid, and that caused Hiccup's blood to boil. That same flyer got closer and when he was right behind Tuk Tuk, Hiccup roared out in rage and grabbed the flyer from behind.
"Hiccup!"
Raya cried out before quickly slapping a hand over her mouth, she had just revealed his identity to Drago's men, and they would report this to their master if even one of the flyers escaped or withdrew from this skirmish. Hiccup, however, wasn't concerned at the moment, he drew out a knife and plunged the blade into the flyer's stomach, causing him to roar out in agony. Snarling like a rabid animal, Hiccup soon began to open up the flyers gut; intestines and blood poured out and the flyer was quickly fading. Removing his knife from the flyer's gut, Hiccup then plunged his knife into the flyer's groin.
"ARRGH!!"
Hiccup reveled in the cries of agony that filled his ears, this man raped Astrid, the first of many who defiled his betrothed. "Die!" The vengeful Viking hissed as he then slit the flyers throat wide open, a geyser of blood sprayed out of his neck, but the flyer soon fell dead. The Singetail turned its head to Hiccup and began to buck wildly, Hiccup was then hurled into the air and fell at alarming speeds. But Hiccup used the glider in his armor to reduce his speed and steer towards Tuk Tuk. Once he was back on top of the rolling mammal, Hiccup breathed a sigh of relief and then smacked Raya on the back of the head.
"Hiccup—"
"You said my name! If even one of those flyers pulls back, they'll report to Drago and tell him about this encounter! I would then lose the element of surprise!"
"I'm sorry—"
"I will kill you myself if Drago and his army come after us in full force," Hiccup seethed out. "Just keep your mouth shut, and focus on getting us out of here." Returning his attention to the pursuing flyers and Fang riders, Hiccup loaded his crossbow once more and aimed his weapon at Askari, who was drawing closer. Letting the arrow fly, Hiccup growled in annoyance when the head of the Dragon Flyers blocked the arrow with a shield. Using his whip, Askari brought the instrument of torture down on his Singetail, causing the dragon to roar out in agony and then fire down on Tuk Tuk. The furry mammal took evasive action as Askari's Singetail kept the pressure on them. Upon exiting the ravine, Tuk Tuk turned hard right and continued rolling along the ridgeline.
Raya turned to the left to see a shipping port that led into Tail Nation, along with several boats belonging to the people of Tail Nation. A smile graced Raya's face as she turned to Sisu and inquired. "What do cats and Druun have in common?"
"They have no souls?"
"And they hate water," Raya added, she then exclaimed to both Sisu and Hiccup. "Hold on!" She then steered Tuk Tuk off the ridgeline, causing them to plummet into the water. While Tuk Tuk was swimming to the nearest boat, Hiccup had eliminated almost all of the Dragon Flyers, only Askari and two more remained. Deciding that this skirmish was no longer worth fighting, Askari turned to his two remaining flyers and gave the order to withdraw, they were going to report what happened to Drago. As Hiccup watched the last three Dragon Flyers flee, he growled and looked to Raya with a heated glare.
"Pray that Drago's hubris gets the better of him," Hiccup seethed out to Raya. "Because if that madman heeds Askari's words and believes him, our quest to obtain the three remaining gem pieces will not only be more difficult, but we'll be facing some of the greatest warriors in Midgard."
"I know, and I'm sorry Hiccup," Raya said. "I didn't mean to say your name out loud."
Sighing, Hiccup wiped ran a hand through his damp hair, and shook his head. They then climbed on board the nearest boat and for the moment, it appeared to be unoccupied. "Hello? Is anyone here?" Raya inquired while looking around the ship. Suddenly, a bench was pressed against the back of Raya's legs, causing her to let out a yelp in surprise, but her backside landed on the bench that had pressed behind her legs. The same could be said for both Hiccup and Sisu, cups made from bamboo were placed before the trio and a bowl of food was placed before Tuk Tuk who let out a happy coo.
"Welcome to the world-famous Shrimp-orium. My name is Boun. I'll be your server today. Would you like to hear our daily specials?"
"Yes, please!"
Both Hiccup and Raya shot Sisu a look before turning back to this... boy before them.
"We have shrimp, we have congee. We have shrimp congee that will leave you dying for more."
"The captain. Where's the captain?" Raya demanded urgently.
"You're looking at him," Boun smiled. "I'm the owner, chef, and chief officer of finance of the Shrimp-orium. How can I help you?"
"Well, I am Sisudatu and—"
"And we need to get to Talon Nation, now!" Raya said firmly as she looked to see Namaari and her gang of riders gaining closer to the trading port.
"My apologies, the Shrimp-orium isn't a ferry," Raya reached into a pouch and pulled out a handful of jade coins and held them up to Boun who exclaimed in awe. "Toi, that is a lot of jade!" As he reached for the valuable currency, Raya withdrew.
"Half now, half when we arrive at Talon. Deal?" She then offered the jade back to the boy and held her breath.
Smirking, Boun smirked and took half the jade in Raya's palm. "Clasp onto your congee. Today's special is to go." Moving like a blur, Boun took the bowl of food away from Tuk Tuk, threw a cooking pot into a dish sink, removed the rope that kept the Shrimp-orium from drifting out of the harbor, he then grabbed a bamboo staff and placed it at the dock before pushing, causing the vessel to slowly move out of the port.
"Uh, Captain Boun? Does this thing go any faster?" Raya inquired before looking ahead and seeing Namaari and her gang closing in.
"Whoa! You didn't tell me Fang Nation was after you!" Boun exclaimed. "This is going to cost you extra."
"Worry not. I'll take care of this."
Sisu jumped out of the boat and plummeted into the water. Raya shielded Boun's eyes as Sisu shifted back into a dragon and used her tail to make the boat move like the wind, causing the ship to buck and nearly hurl the occupants out of the boat and into the water.
"What is happening?"
"My friend is a very strong swimmer," Raya said nonchalantly before looking to the port to see Namaari and her gang glaring at them. "Bye-bye, binturi." Scoffing at Raya's smugness, Hiccup looked to where Askari and the last two flyers took off. "Hiccup, relax—"
"Easy for you to say, princess," Hiccup spat out. "You mock the enemy and yet Drago's flyers fled, they will report this encounter to their master."
"We'll be more careful," Raya assured the fuming Viking. "I promise."
Hiccup snorted in response and then reverted the crossbow feature his shield held and returned it to its original purpose. Raya decided to give her Viking companion the chance to cool off for the time being and look back to the port which was shrinking with each passing second as they went out further along the river.
On the port, Namaari sighed in disbelief that she lost Raya and her friends, they had two gem pieces and would continue to come for the rest of them, that much was painfully obvious. Her disbelief soon became fear as Drago's threat for failing in gaining the gem piece Raya had loomed over them and Fang Nation.
"Cousin, if Raya and her companions are after gem pieces, their next stop will be Talon Nation."
"We're not following them into Talon Nation, Somwang," Namaari said. "We're going back home. I need to speak with Chief Virana to inform her that Drago and his army are back and what Raya is doing." That being said, Namaari and her gang of riders left Tail Nation and rode back home to Fang Nation in haste.
Drago and his army continued their march across Kumandra, they were making their way to Fang Nation. The madman had not committed all his forces to the march, he had ordered his shipmasters and Chosen to ferry their armada to the river that led into Fang Nation. It was now late afternoon and Drago could see specs in the sky, heading straight towards his massive siege engine. Taking a glass to see what was coming, Drago grunted when he saw that it was Askari and two of his flyers. If Askari had returned, something had either gone wrong or he had found the one who had sabotaged Ajamu's warship. Once the three Dragon Flyers landed on the siege engine, Askari made his way to Drago and bowed before his master.
"Master."
"Speak, why have you returned?"
Looking up, Askari answered. "I lost a handful of flyers and Singetails in a skirmish today, thanks to Chief Benja's daughter, Raya," the head of the Dragon Flyers continued. "That's not all. Accompanying Heart Nation's princess is someone named... Hiccup." Drago's eyes widened slightly, and he visibly tensed. The madman did not believe Askari, he had witnessed his Bewilderbeast flash freeze the supposed Dragon Master with his own eyes when he invaded Berk.
"Stoick's whelp is dead," Drago seethed out as he then loomed over Askari, causing the flyer to tense and hold his breath. "You dare return to me empty-handed and now you speak lies to me?!"
"No, Drago! It's the truth!" Askari said quickly. "The man accompanying Benja's daughter was a Viking! Whether or not he was Hiccup Haddock, I cannot be certain. But it was a Viking."
Growling, Drago drew out his sword and pointed the thick blade at Askari's face. "Rest. See yourself to wine and food. When dawn's light shines, take your best flyers and bring me this Viking survivor," bearing his teeth, Drago seethed out. "And if this Viking truly is Hiccup Haddock, I will kill him slowly as I did with all the Viking people; day by day he will break and when he has shattered, then and only then will I dispatch him to the afterlife."
