Chapter 39: Ragnarök part II

A/N: The time has come for Hiccup and Drago to have their final encounter. I won't waste time rambling here, let's get to it!

(Normal pov— Tail Nation)

"C'mon, Bullsong! Give me everything you've got!"

Raya clutched her saddle handles as the Catastrophic Quaken unleashed a thunderous roar and pumped his wings faster, gaining a burst of speed. After witnessing Drago and his army trapped like rats, Heart's princess believed that the day belonged to Kumandra. Unfortunately, when Askari and the Dragon Flyers rescued their master, Raya needed to prevent Drago's escape. However, she was beaten to it when Hiccup and Bayana climbed on Stormfly and chased after the madman, and killed the last of the Dragon Flyers. Now, Heart's princess was descending into fire, smoke, and mayhem as Fang's army was encountering the enemy forces that had stayed behind to defend their ships. But those ships were being destroyed one by one by the war machines in Fang's arsenal. Not only that, but the dragons too were sinking Drago's armada.

"Raya!"

Whirling her head around, Heart's princess laid eyes on Sisu and her siblings running along the raindrops still coming down. "If you think you are going to descend into the jaws of Drago's warship, you won't be alone," the elegant water dragon then gave her human companion a curious look. "How can the dragons and I help?"

"Destroy what remains of Drago's armada, make sure that this is their last voyage," she then narrowed her eyes at The Conqueror before murmuring to herself. "It's time to end this."

(Hiccup's pov)

For this moment, I have walked away from the only world I have ever known and tread upon land that's foreign to me. I have spilled more blood than I could handle, and I have killed so many in honor of those I lost. But at long last, everything I did to get here has finally led me to this moment. I finally come face to face with the monster who destroyed my world and took everyone I held close to my heart, Drago Bludvist.

I had always sought a peaceful solution, to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and violence. But there will be no negotiation, no attempt to reason further with the beast before me, and no sympathy when I put this mad dog out of his misery. This is the battle I've dreamed of for the many months at sea and here in Kumandra, at last, the time has come to end this.

As I drew near, Drago growled and swung his bullhook at my head, but I ducked underneath his tool of tyranny and oppression and then swatted away his blade, the contact caused sparks to fly and the ringing of steel echoed as the battle between Kumandra's armies and what remained of Drago's loyalists ensued. Eventually, the madman and I locked blades with each other, and as I looked into Drago's cold, merciless eyes, I truly understood what both my father and mother had been trying to tell me back when I believed reasoning with Drago was possible. This wasn't a man who could be reasoned with, a man who would see the error of his ways and transform into an ally of man and dragons. No, this was a man who would stop at nothing until he got what he wanted and he would sweep away any man or dragon aside who stood in his way from conquering this world. This was a man where there was only one resolution, one way to put an end to his tyranny and violence— one of us had to die.

Breaking the blade lock, I bash my head against Drago's, causing him to grunt while staggering back. He then smirks while chuckling darkly before swinging his sword at my belly, as I back away, I narrowly duck from his bullhook which would've embedded into my head with the hook end on his shaft. While diving away from another sword thrust, I managed to cut him across his leg, unfortunately, it was nothing more than a scratch, and the wound would not kill him.

Laughing, Drago looks at the insignificant wound I inflicted and then looks at me with a taunting grin. "This is the best you can do, Dragon Master?" He spat out my title as if it were a complete jest. The grin on his ugly gave widened as he continued. "Your father should have rid you when you were born. What a weakling you are." His grin faded when he swung his bullhook once again, I swatted the hook away with my shield and thrust Inferno at his belly, but he sidestepped away from the fiery blade and then ferociously backhanded me. As I was sprawled out along the deck, I cried out when Drago leaped into the air and thrust his bullhook, which would've pierced my chest, had I not rolled away at the last minute. He swung his sword and the glade grazed my chest armor.

Detaching his bullhook from the deck, Drago continued to press me. "Your blond, she made a good whore in that short amount of time," my insides ignited, I recalled everything the madman and his men did to my beloved before they strung her up. I wanted to tear Drago to pieces; take his head off and feed his remains to Odin's ravens. But not like this, not when uncontrollable anger swelled within me. "A pity that you did not claim the girl for yourself when you had the chance, she was... mmm, most appealing, especially with her lips around my cock." Drago's words fanned the flames within me until an inferno raged in my insides. He was attempting to goad me into foolish action. If I fight based on my base impulses, I'm dead, and this mad dog will continue to roam Midgard and rebuild his empire.

"That's right, keep talking, bacraut," I murmured while keeping control over my emotions. "Your end will only be more painful."

Continuing to press me, Drago chuckled darkly. "When my men had taken their time with her, the spirited warrior that had tried to intimidate me was reduced to nothing but a common whore; her dignity and freedom stripped away from her," he then licked his lips. "Had she not proven to be such a handful, perhaps I would have kept her alive to make her my sex slave." My grip on my sword and shield tightened, I could've sworn my knuckles split open because of how tightly I was gripping the tools needed to end this sadistic animal. "Nothing to say, boy?" Cocking his head mockingly, he then pursed his lips and shrugged. "Your woman, however, had plenty to say while I took her again and again. She cried out for her pathetic gods to bring you back to her and to your pisspot of a village and serve as a herald of vengeance to avenge them."

Lightning crackled in the heavens and it brought a smile to my face. Pointing Inferno to the sky, I barked out over the sound of battle, bloodshed, and rain. "Do you hear? Thor is beating his mighty hammer, Mjölnir, my gods are with me," giving the madman a murderous grin, I nod. "Taunt me all you want, Drago Bludvist, your vile words only fan the raging inferno within my belly, and when you're defeated and on your knees before me..." pointing Inferno at him, I seethed out. "...the whole world will know that you were best by Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of Stoick the Vast, and Dragon Master of Norway." Lifting my shield, I fired a bola and then rushed the madman like an enraged Speed Stringer. He managed to swat the incoming bola, but as he swung his sword at my head, I slid on my knees and landed a staggering blow to his belly with my shield and then landed an uppercut with the shield.

"ARRGGH!"

Roaring out, Drago kicked me away and began to unleash a barrage of strikes with both his bullhook and sword. Every strike rattled my bones, but I stood tall. Before he could land another blow, I slapped Inferno along his right hand, and as my blade burned his flesh, he cried out while dropping his bullhook. He brought his sword down on me but I used my shield to stop him and then landed another blow in his face, staggering him. With a snarl, I cut him across his side and landed another blow in that wound with my shield. Dropping his sword, the madman backed away while breathing heavily and placing a hand on his wound, though it bled, it was seared. Growling, Drago spat blood on the deck of his ship before laughing. "The pup bears his teeth," he then shook his head. "Too bad your fighting spirit won't be enough to save yourself from my wrath." Reaching for a chain on the deck, Drago whirled it overhead before letting it fly, and like a serpent that constricts its prey, the chain wrapped around my left arm, causing me to gasp. With a grunt, Drago pulled me toward him as if I weighed nothing, he then landed a ruthless clothesline, momentary cutting off my airflow. While hacking violently I was then up by my hair, causing me to cry out in pain, Drago silenced my sharp cry of pain before wrapping the chain around my throat.

"I now finish what I started by wiping your incompetent race off the face of this world," Drago snarled as he choked me harder with chains wrapped around my neck. "Die! You wretched vermin!"

With my vision going black, I was hacking violently and then planted my feet firmly on the deck and then bashed the back of my head against Drago's face, with enough force to break the madman's nose. Releasing a growl of pain, Drago's grip on me loosened, allowing me to press my attack by delivering a strong, heavy blow to Drago's face with my elbow. That blow caused the madman to release me, I then grabbed his head and bashed it against my left knee, causing him to stumble back and cradle his heavily bleeding nose. Backing away from Drago, I ripped off the chain wrapped around my neck and threw it aside. After regaining my breath, I reached for Valkyrie's Fury behind my back, igniting the axe while taking up a battle stance.

"It's time to die!"

Wiping the blood from his nose, Drago looked into my eyes and gave me a murderous grin while replying to my words. "Yes, it is," he then charged me like an enraged Rumblehorn. "You will die in failure and I will rule this world as the immortal Dragon God, unchallenged and untouchable!" I couldn't swing the axe as he tackled me into a nearby mast. The force of the blow felt as though my spine was severed in two, an agonizing cry came from my mouth as Drago then wrapped his arms tightly around me, trapping me in his death grip. "You more Night Fury to come to your aid!" He bashed his head against mine. "No friends to save you!" Again, he bashed his head against mine, that second blow made my already foggy vision increase. "No gods will descend from the heavens and empower you." After landing another ruthless headbutt for the third time, I croaked as he squeezed his arms tighter, cutting off my airflow. My vision was darkening and I could feel my grip on life slipping. "You will die alone and forgotten." He squeezed ever tighter, causing me to cry out.

However, looking over Drago's shoulder, I could see the memories of my loved ones, they all gave me stern yet encouraging looks. The memory of my beloved stepped forward and she cried. "Show him who you are, my love!" She then continued. "Fight on!" Her words were a boon, and before Drago could break my back, I leaned in and sunk my teeth into his cheek. Roaring out in agony as I felt his flesh tearing and his blood soaking my tongue, I bit down harder and Drago ripped me off of him before tossing me aside.

Spitting out the flesh and blood in my mouth, Drago clutched at his newly acquired wound before pounding a fist against his chest and unleashing a menacing roar, and charging once again. Still fatigued from the earlier punishment I received, I couldn't move away in time as Drago's right shoulder slammed into me. I had drawn a knife before he slammed into me, however, it wasn't one of my venom-laced knives. As he wrapped his unnatural hand around my throat, I used the knife to cut his right arm with enough strength for him to back away. Unfortunately, Drago was undeterred by his newly acquired wound, he then slammed me onto the deck, clutching my throat in one hand and making a fist with the other. He cocked his arm back, ready to land a punch, but I was able to swing my knife at his throat, his horrified gasp was accompanied by a pained growl as my knife cut the left side of his neck.

Diving for Valkyrie's Fury, I dispersed Monstrous Nightmare gel toward Drago and when I ignited the axe, the sparks lit the gel, and fire flew straight toward the charging madman. Crying out, the fire clung to some of his clothing and burned at his unnatural arm. While he was focused on putting out the fire crawling along his body, I quickly retrieved my shield and Inferno and turned to see the madman had finished patting down the flames along his body. With an outraged roar, Drago retrieved his own weapons and charged once again.

(Normal pov)

As Hiccup and Drago fought, Namaari and Bayana faced the elite killers of the Northern Alliance, the best and most skilled warriors from around the world had now set their sights and weapons on Fang Nation's leader and the traitor who was once one of their brothers in arms.

Ducking and evading throwing knives from a Hand known as the Kavayanna, Knife Juggler, who wielded any knife with deadly purpose, Bayana could feel himself tiring, especially after dealing with a more giant Hand that had taken a great deal of strength to defeat. One of the knives struck Bayana, cutting his forehead, the young warrior was knocked off of his feet and collapsed on the deck with a groan. As Kavayanna charged with two Kota knives in hand, Bayana quickly reached for his bow and fetched an arrow from his quiver, and let the arrow fly. She ducked underneath the arrow and then slid underneath a second arrow before tackling the now-kneeling Bayana. While rolling around on the deck, both young warriors traded blows to each other's bellies or sides before Kavayanna was able to land a fierce elbow to Bayana's jaw.

"Traitor," she seethed while straddling her former companion and raising one of her knives up. "Die!" With a snarl, she brought the knife down, but Bayana caught her wrist with one hand and then caught her second hand when she tried burying her second knife into his chest. Both warriors bore their teeth, like greedy predators competing for a carcass to devour all by themselves. As Bayana applied more strength in his grip, he could see the Knife Juggler's grip on her knives slipping, but she stood firm. Determined not to die just yet, Bayana summoned his own pack of dragons that he bonded with over the years, they were known as Silkspanners.

Suddenly, thick webs sent Kavayanna flying back and momentarily subdued to the deck of the ship, and Bayana rose and caught his breath before laughing at the sight of his dragon companions crawling along the masts or rigging of The Conqueror and spewing thick webs on the Hands or any warrior under Drago's command. Two of the larger Silkspanners approached Bayana, and the young warrior placed a foot on each of the pack leader's backs and allowed them to scurry along the deck of the ship while Bayana killed any Hand or warrior who proved too much of a challenge for Namaari, her fellow warriors, and her assassins.

Namaari caught her breath and gave a nod at Bayana for helping her finish off a Hand that moved as fast as lightning. After regaining her breath, Fang's leader inhaled sharply when a whip nearly cleaved her face in half, but thanks to her quick reflexes, Namaari evaded the whip blade. Back on her feet, the young chief laid eyes on a hooded Hand wielding two whip blades, they then began whirling them and moved like a dancer before lashing out with a snarl. Diving away from one of the blades, Namaari raised one of her blades as her opponent's whip wrapped around her left sword before being ripped from her hands. Crying out in frustration, Namaari somersaulted away from the second whip and then backflipped as the Hand's other whip blade would've struck her in the heart. Narrowing their eyes, the Hand was able to knock Namaari off of her feet with one of their whips, causing the young chief to crash against one of The Conqueror's armory doors. Namaari cursed out loud and quickly ducked as the incoming whip blade nearly took her head off,  she then ran away from the whirling whip blades that threatened to tear her to pieces.

While the few warriors that were by her side had fought valiantly, they simply were no match for Drago's elite killers, all that remained was the Serlot's Claw, as warriors, they were on equal footing with the Hands, and so they provided a greater challenge than Fang's average warrior. Namaari then quickly toward Hiccup and Drago, the two of them were engaged in heated conflict, and though the Viking was not on equal footing, physically speaking, he was still putting up a fight. Namaari wished she could lend her aid in killing the monster who killed both her parents and condemned Fang's imperial city to the Druun, but right now, she had bigger problems.

While continuing to perform evasive acrobatics to avoid the incoming blade whips from her opponent, Namaari nearly had her throat slashed open by one of the incoming whips, which caused her to lose footing and collapse. As the whip-wielding Hand ran along a flight of stairs and then leaped in the air to kill Fang's leader, that Hand was shot dead by a blast of magma. Whirling around, Namaari released a relieved laugh to see Raya arrive on top of Bullsong who unleashed a thunderous roar and continued to spew magma blasts at advancing Hands.

"Namaari!"

Helping her lover up, Raya pulled Namaari in for a kiss, one that Fang's leader happily returned. After breaking their kiss, they then fought side by side, cutting down advancing warriors who put them to rest. "I know that this is a great time to ask, but..." Raya said sarcastically before running a Mongol warrior through with her whip sword. She then looked to Namaari and inquired. "...where's Hiccup?" Fang's leader gestured to the Viking and madman battling at each other fiercely. "We have to help him!" Raya exclaimed urgently.

"We've got our own problems to deal with right now, Dep La," Namaari bore her teeth as an axe-wielding Hand hurled one of their axes at Raya. "Watch out!" Tackling her lover to the ground, the axe narrowly took Namaari's head. Both women got back on their feet and fought their attackers.

Although Raya wanted to help Hiccup, Namaari was right, they had their own problems at the moment. And they couldn't help Hiccup if they were dead.

(Hiccup's pov)

I had faced many challenging opponents throughout my life, some were dragons that posed too great a threat to both Vikings and dragons themselves while many more were Vikings who had turned into allies and friends. The men I had fought fiercely with replayed in my mind's eyes— Ryker Grimborn was nothing more than a mindless thug who followed the whims of his brother, Viggo Grimborn, who was a most vicious yet keen opponent, and one who tested me in ways no one had ever had before, he fought with his mind, and if sharpened enough, the mind can kill just as the sword can. Johann, a man who sought to obtain his own selfish desires learned to blend in and play the role of a weary, weak, yet lovable trader, he manipulated and tricked many to find ways to dispose of me and the gang back in the days of our earlier youth. Krogan, who was in fact Drago's protege, the man who would've taken command of the junta had the madman died in battle. The former leader of the Dragon Flyers had inflicted cruelty and brutality on men and dragons to obtain the King of Dragons, he reflected Drago's ruthlessness and zero tolerance for failure, but despite his best efforts to deliver the very same egg I now possess to his master, Krogan failed. And now, I face Drago Bludvist, a beast who was pushing me to my physical limit, I, however, would refuse to break or fall by his hands until I struck him down from this world. Like all these men, Drago too would die.

Now backed against a nearby railing, I raised my axe to halt Drago's sword from splitting my head open and I raised my shield to halt his bullhook. It didn't matter if this ship was now being engulfed in fire or that smoke was making it hard to breathe, all that mattered was killing Drago. Pushing the madman away, I dived away as he thrust his sword where I once stood, I then somersaulted away as my opponent thrust his bullhook, yet he managed to cut along my right arm. Backing away from him while seeing the torn armor and tunic as well as bloodied skin, I hissed in pain while at the heaving Drago.

"You should take pride, boy," the madman approached while speaking with admiration. "No man has ever stood against me this long in combat." With a grunt, Drago once again thrust his bullhook, this time aiming for my lower abdomen. Swatting his tool of oppression and tyranny away, I inflicted a deep cut along his right arm, he backed away while roaring out.

Whirling Inferno in hand, I spat on the deck. "Spare me your adoration," I then banged my blade against my shield and growled out. "You may have faced greater opponents than me, however, unlike them, I have nothing left to lose. That makes me more dangerous than all your previous opponents." Reaching for a canister of Zippleback gas, I pulled the clip and hurled it at Drago while igniting it. The following explosion sent the madman crashing into one of his dome dragon traps. Now on all fours, while panting heavily, Drago appeared to be at my mercy. Reluctant, I approached slowly before gaining speed in my step, eager to finally finish the monster off. With a snarl, Drago hurled a handful of ash in my face, causing me to cry out in surprise while backing away and rubbing the ash out of my eyes. As my vision cleared, I could see Drago on his feet and a clutch of warriors by their master's side, the madman then retreated while his warriors would attempt to further drain me of my energy.

"Finish him off!"

As the warriors obeyed Drago's command, I raised Inferno to halt a Mongol warrior's sword before landing a right hook across their face, they crumbled to their knees while a Slavic warrior swung an axe, but I ducked underneath their weapon and thrust Inferno through the back of their throat, killing them. The Mongol who attacked first rose and lashed out again, but I hacked off their sword hand and slashed their throat open, leaving them to bleed to death. Another warrior approached with a mace and shield in their hands, with a roar, they swung their mace at my head, but after ducking their fierce swing, I landed a ferocious uppercut, followed by driving Inferno through their chest and then removing my blade. Though fatally wounded, this third warrior swung their shield at my head, but as I got behind them, I whirled Inferno around until I had a reverse grip on my blade and drove the blade through my opponent's spine.

"He's just a boy! Have you all lost your honor?! KILL HIM!"

Drago's enraged scream caused the remaining warriors to advance, intent on following their orders to the letter. A larger warrior swung a war hammer at me, but I backed away from the blunt weapon and cut along their stomach, spilling their guts open. Panting heavily, I landed a blow to their face and then drove Inferno through my fourth opponent's heart, killing them. Approaching my next opponent, they had a sword and axe in hand, they bore their teeth at me before swinging their axe at my head, but I halted his weapon with my shield and sidestepped away from his blade while knocking it out of their hand before whirling around and cutting their chest open. As my fifth opponent crumbled to their knees and fell dead, I turned to the sixth warrior who stood between me and the fate Drago deserved. With a roar, this warrior thrust a Kwan Dao at my middle, but I sidestepped away from the blade and brought Inferno down on the shaft, severing it in half before cleaving the warrior's head off.

Panting heavily, I momentarily looked to the heavens and opened my mouth, allowing the rain to quench my thirst. After having my fill of rainwater, I approached Drago, eager to end this. More of the warriors loyal to the madman attempted to halt my advance, though some were struck down with ease, some took time to kill. A hulking African warrior with a war hammer disarmed me of my shield and as he swung the blade end of his hammer, I swatted the weapon away from my side before hurling a poison-laced knife at the warrior's leg and another that embedded into his throat. Whirling around, I cried out as a Mongol fire lancer wielded a hand-held cannon in hand which fired shards of porcelain as well as fire, I dove away from the blast, and that fire lancer ended up killing one of his allies. Moving toward the fire lancer, I hacked off one of their legs and as they crumbled to the ground in agony, I drove Inferno through their mouth, silencing them. Seeing a bigger Mongol charge, I extracted Inferno out of my previous attacker's mouth and ran along my opponent's body before whirling around cleaving their face in half.

"Aten, Serpent's Fang, finish him off!"

Seeing the Hand that was partial to serpents made me inhale sharply, in my time embedded in the ranks of the Northern Alliance, I bore witness to this Hand and his prowess as a warrior, applying both his skills with the blade and his charms with serpents to kill his enemies. While he was drawing a Khopesh sword, I could see Drago retreating to a different section of the ship while being accompanied by Ragnar the Rock's former assassins, the trio of assassins, the Wu sisters. Crying out in disbelief that the madman was getting away, I turned to Bayana and barked out. "Drago's getting away! Stop him!" As I turned back to my front, Aten closed the distance between us and swung his blade at my head, but I raised Inferno to halt his blade from making purchase with my flesh.

"Your pathetic life ends here, Hiccup Haddock!" Aten hissed before breaking the blade lock and landing a vicious left hook across my face. Stunned by the blow, I rolled away from his blade and quickly swatted the blade away before it ran through my chest. With a growl, I released gas from the hilt of my blade and ignited it, sending the snake charmer back and tumbling on the deck. Rushing my opponent, I leaped into the air with Inferno raised above my head, Aten, however, rolled away from my wrath, but I extracted my blade from the deck and slashed him across his left cheek. Crying out, he wiped away the blood seeping down his face before bearing his fangs. "You will pay for that!" He then somersaulted backward as I hurled a throwing knife at him, retracting Inferno for a moment, I began hurling poison-laced knives at the snake charmer, but he evaded them all. Each knife I threw allowed me to back Aten into a corner, and as I closed the distance between us, I drew Inferno once again and we locked blades with each other.

Our grunts of effort entwined until the snake charmer broke our lock and landed a heavy elbow to my jaw. Seizing me by the throat, I was then slammed into the corner and stopped Aten's Khopesh from splitting my head open. As I desperately sought to keep the Egyptian warrior at bay, I looked to see a cobra serpent, which was hidden in his cloak, reveal itself. Its menacing hissing filled my ears and its eyes bore into mine, causing me to inhale sharply. Chuckling darkly, Aten licked his lips as the cobra bore its fangs at me. Closing my eyes, I expected the serpent's fangs to sink into my flesh and pump its venom into my veins, but that never happened. As I reopened my eyes, I saw Raya grab the cobra's head and turned it in Aten's direction, the serpent spat venom into his eyes, burning away his sight. Screaming in agony as his sight was being burned away, I then drove Inferno through his heart, silencing his screams. Grabbing him by the back of his head, I drove my blade deeper before tossing the snake charmer into a burning heap of supplies and war machines. As the snake charmer and his venomous creatures burned to a crisp, I was about to run after Drago, but Raya stopped me.

"Raya, what in Thor's name do you think you're doing?!"

"Please, don't face him alone, Hiccup," she pleaded desperately. "Drago won't fight fairly, you saw him unleashing his hounds at you."

"He's mine to kill!" I snarled while ripping my arm out of her grasp. "Mine! Stay out of my way, princess!" Without a second thought, I raced after the now-escaping Drago, while also retrieving my shield. "DRAGO!" I bellowed out while running as fast as my legs could carry me, my body screamed out for me to stop and take a moment of respite, but to do so would allow time for the madman to slip from my grasp, and that was something I wouldn't allow. I will send Drago to Corpse Hall and rejoice in his death and the death of his murderous horde. Raya and Namaari cried out for me to stop and wait for them, but I ignored their pleas as Drago and the Hands protecting him were in my sight. They were attempting to escape on the back of an armored dragon. Growling, I ran along a flight of stairs leading to The Conqueror's upper deck, I then retracted Inferno and placed it on my hip, and threw my shield over my torso while reaching for three throwing knives. "DRAGO!" The man who was about to climb on the oppressed dragon's back cried out when I hurled my knives at him, however, the sister trio used their skills to swat away the incoming projectiles. As I landed back on the main deck, I stood up and panted heavily. "If you're so confident that you can best me in combat, why run like a coward with your tail tucked between your legs?" I then grinned before continuing to provoke Drago's anger. "The mighty leader of the Northern Alliance, running from a hiccup, the runt of the litter. You may have the advantage of brute strength and combat prowess, but you're tiring. My desire for vengeance, however, keeps me going—"

"Vengeance? The petty wish of a child," Drago scoffed before grinning as more of his Hands arrived and surrounded me. "I told you that you would die in failure, and so it shall be." He then gave a nod at his Hands. "Kill him!" Before the Hands circling me could attack, they were shot down by thick webs and then finished off by arrows striking them right between their eyes. Whirling around, I saw Bayana and dragons the likes of which I'd never seen before crawling toward Drago and the assassin trio. The dragon Drago was planning to escape suddenly sunk its teeth down on the madman's right shoulder, and at that moment, I charged. Leaping over the sister trio, I readied Inferno and was about to run Drago through, but the madman landed a ruthless elbow to the dragon's snout, causing it to release him, he then turned to me and backhanded me, sending me back and sprawling on the deck.

Roaring out in fury as his last hope of escape now flew away to join the other dragons in sinking what remained of his armada, Drago turned his full attention on me. Groaning in pain from the blow I had received, I saw the madman's figure outlined with a fiery silhouette thanks to the raging fires around us and on The Conqueror, and he looked... demonic. With Drago's eyes burning with bloodlust that rivaled my own, his fists clenched tightly and he bore his teeth like a ravenous predator. As I slowly got back up, a cry parted my lips as I received a ferocious kick to the face from Drago, the force of the second blow sent me back once more and I could feel blood seeping down my nose.

"Decades of amassing the largest army of man and dragons, years of building trust between each faction, and all the conquests my Northern Alliance had conducted have been for nothing. You have destroyed everything I have worked for!" Drago seethed before bellowing out. "YOU HAVE RUINED EVERYTHING!"

Wiping the blood from my nose, I chuckle at the madman's exclaims before replying back coldly. "You tear down my world? I tear down yours," shrugging, I then smirk. "Now you know what's like to lose what you care for."

Pounding his fist against his chest, Drago snorted. "I built my empire from nothing! I can do it again," he then looked to the satchel that held the Bewilderbeast egg around my torso. "Once your blood soaks the deck of my ship, I will begin anew, and no one will stand in my way. NO ONE!" With his bullhook and sword in hand, the madman and I engaged in a fight to the death once again. No longer was Drago set on trying to goad me into foolish action, now he was bloodthirsty, and he had thrown caution to the wind as he was set on spilling my blood. Smirking to myself, I knew that now was the time I could finally end this and avenge my loved ones and the people of Scandinavia.

Each of the madman's blows threatened to make me lose my footing, but I refused to be manhandled, I stood my ground and fought on, as any Viking would. As I swung at Drago, he backed away before we finally locked blades for a moment, he then landed a punch across my face, blood and spittle flew out of my mouth and I fell to a single knee. With a cry, he brought his sword down once again, but I raised my shield, to halt his blade. While landing blow after blow against my shield, Drago used the hook of his signature weapon to yank my shield away and then landed a strong kick to my chest, knocking the air out of my lungs, and causing me to drop Inferno. Sprawled out on the deck left me vulnerable, and Drago pressed his attack, I quickly reached for Valkyrie's Fury to protect myself. While the madman unleashed a flurry of strong, brutal attacks, I miraculously was about to stop his bullhook or sword from striking me. My shield wasn't far from me, and I was able to bring it closer with my fingers, but I was more concerned with Drago not killing me while on my back. Stomping down on my chest, Drago left me breathless, and when I tried to swing my axe at his side, he swatted it away and pinned the hand wielding the axe with his other foot before raising his bullhook, ready to drive it through my skull.

Inhaling sharply, I was able to reach my shield and with a cry, I raised it to my face just as the bullhook came down on my face. Landing a blow to the madman's groin, I then struck him in the face with my shield, staggering him. I then reached for my axe and with a cry of fury, I brought the axe down on top of the madman's left foot. Drago's roar of agony was cut short when I struck him across the face with my shield again, blood and spittle flew out of his mouth as he then fell on all fours. Panting heavily while coughing blood, Drago's pants of fatigue turned into growls and he brandished his blood-stained teeth at me. Standing at his full height, Drago bellowed out like a Berserker and after crouching to retrieve his sword, he attacked.

With a snarl, Drago lunged and thrusts the cutting edge of his sword toward my ribs. However, I sidestepped away from the war master's large blade thanks to my agility and speed before I then batted the madman's blade down with the haft of Valkyrie's Fury. The two of us shared murderous glares, further testing each other's range and speed with a series of back-and-forth half-committed strikes— until Drago gained favorable footing and burst forward to swing at my waist. With a cry, I narrowly tumbled over the incoming sword. Sparks of contact spit from my reinforced leg guards. Growling, I was able to land on my knees and jabbed the blunt head of my axe against Drago's exposed throat.

The fierce cawing of ravens suddenly filled my ears, looking to the skies which continued to crackle fiercely with lightning, I could see a great multitude of ravens encircling The Conqueror and the sea, where corpses floated. Pointing to the sky, I exhale. "Odin is seated on his throne in Asgard, your death is fated, there's no escape," I snarled out as Drago sputtered for air while stumbling backward. "You have a debt owed to the Scandinavian people you put to the sword, and I will see that debt paid in full." Drago's cough turned into malicious laughter. He kicked up a cloud of ash and leaped with his sword brandished overhead. After quickly wiping the ash from my eyes, I then raised my axe just in time to block Drago's heavy swing. As I absorbed the shock and control of Drago's blade, it slid down to catch on my axe head and pivoted the weapon's hefty pommel to butt Drago hard in the face, causing blood and spittle to fly out of his mouth. The madman staggered away with a snarl, he slashed wildly, cutting across the bridge of my nose and drawing blood. After crying out in pain, I pressed through the pain of my new wound and wiped away the blood seeping down my face. I advanced, ducking under another deterring vicious swing, I then parried a second chop away, and then, I was able to sever the wrist of Drago's unnatural hand. Noticing that Inferno was right beside him, I crouched down and retrieved his blade before igniting it.

"Let all of Midgard rejoice! Now you die!" I growled while pointing my flaming axe at the winded madman.

Drago looked at me with heavy pants, my fiery weapons illuminating my face that was twisted with raw fury, no doubt intimidating the now greatly wounded war master. He then looked at the sword still clutched in his detached hand, and then looked back at me. "Never to you, boy." He roared out like an enraged lion. "NEVER!" With a grunt, Drago then dove for his bullhook. Once it was in his right hand, he bellowed out and thrust his weapon through my belly. Crying out as cold steel pierced flesh and bone, the madman let out a relieved laugh as he rose and gave me a menacing grin. "How does it feel to die in failure, boy?" He emphasized while twisting his bullhook, causing my cries to increase and blood to seep out of my mouth.

"I-I..." coughing up blood, I panted heavily while looking at Drago's smug face. "I... I'm not... dead yet." Reaching for the knife strapped to my forearm gauntlet, I drive the blade into the madman's inner thigh. As he threw his head back and cried out in agony as I sliced up to his pelvic bone, I then pushed myself off of his bullhook with a choked scream. After taking several steps away from the madman, I sprinted toward him and landed a heavy drop kick into his chest, sending the hulking warlord tumbling down. Quickly reaching for Valkyrie's Fury, I swatted away Drago's bullhook as he swung at me, he then used the hook to trip me. Rolling away from the shaped tip of the shaft, I was then hoisted off of the ground and into the air when the madman was able to get his bullhook underneath my stomach. The crash back down caused me to cry out, my wound bleeding more heavily, I then ignited my axe and slapped one of the sharpened blades against my stomach, causing my cries to increase. Just as I had finished cauterizing my wound, I was struck across the face with his shaft, he then jabbed the butt end of his bullhook into my wound. Before I could scream, he then landed a ruthless uppercut that sent me flying up off the deck and then crashing back down.

"Hiccup!"

Raya's scream of horror filled my ears and I could hear the faint sounds of fighting as I drifted in and out of consciousness. Through my blurry vision, I could once again see the memories of my loved ones, each of them giving me stern yet encouraging looks.

"Fight on, Hiccup. Fight on!"

Their chants filled my ears and reduced the dying fire in my belly to become an inferno that threatened to consume anyone. As I rose to my feet, I croaked out. "Drago!" He whirled around after easily besting both Raya and Namaari who had only locked blades with him for a short minute. "I'm not... d-dead yet!" I snarled out while pounding my fists against my chest. "Come at me!"

Turning to each of my female companions, he smirked cruelly at them before speaking. "Your Viking friend fades, soon, he will join his people in death," turning back to me, he lifted his bullhook before charging. "Die!" As he lunged at me, I dove over his bullhook and retrieved Inferno off of the deck, igniting the blade, and waiting for Drago's next move. Bellowing out, he thrust his bullhook at my head, but I moved too fast for him.

The bullhook was severed in half thanks to my axe and then I drove Inferno into Drago's gut. Releasing a shocked gasp, the war master looked down at his belly and then back into my eyes which burned to see him suffer greatly. With a snarl, I suddenly twisted the blade violently, causing Drago to cry out in agony as his innards were being seared. Bearing my teeth, I reluctantly ripped my weapon out of the war master's belly. "That's for my tribe," as Drago crumbled to his knees, he was now clutching his heavily bleeding wound before looking up into my eyes once again. "This is for my father!" After slamming my axe against the deck of his ship, I then took a handful of Drago's messy dreadlocks in my right hand, with a roar I then began battering the madman's face in with the butt of Inferno. Every blow I delivered made me remember all the horrible, grotesque, and sickening things he and his army did to my home, my loved ones, and my betrothed. After battering Drago's face in, I could see that he was slowly but surely losing consciousness.

But I wasn't done with him yet.

"This is for all the people of Scandinavia who you put to the sword!"

Bringing Inferno down on Drago's false arm, the madman roared out in agony as the arm the Druun had restored was now completely severed. Clutching his smoking stump, Drago found himself whimpering like an abused dog, and for the first time in a very long time, he was terrified. A chill of pleasure crawled up my spine seeing this vile man whimpering like a frightened child, he now knew that he could not murder Vikings and not expect repercussions for such a grievance.

Lifting Inferno, I then moved my blade between Drago's legs. I would destroy that vile thing that he'd used as a weapon, that he'd hurt and destroyed my mother and Astrid with. With a scream of anger, my blade made purchase with Drago's groin, the madman screamed in agony as his cock and balls were severed clean off his body and filled his pants, as did blood. As blood pooled between his legs, I seized him by the front of his breastplate and hoisted him off of the deck, and then slammed him against one of the masts before driving Inferno in his belly once again. The pain of having Inferno driven back into the same wound he had suffered earlier caused Drago to bellow out until the air was knocked out of his lungs when Hiccup slammed him against the mast he was pinned against.

"I... I will be remembered," Drago snarled out with blood-stained teeth. "I am the D-Dragon God! My legacy... w-will endure..." Slowly leaning forward, Drago glared at his Viking opponent, slamming his fist against his chest, and croaked out. "My name... w-will last... forever!"

"No," I murmured softly before speaking in a tone that was cold as ice "You will be utterly forgotten." Removing Inferno from Drago's belly, the war master roared out in agony while I took several steps back. Seeing nothing but crimson, I then bore my teeth and then lunged at the War Master of the Northern Alliance, with one precise swing at the neck, Drago's head slowly but surely slid off until it collapsed onto the deck of the ship. A geyser of blood spewed out from where Drago's head previously was, now the deceased leader of the Northern Alliance fell back, dead.

As I stood over Drago's headless body, breathing heavily, Inferno clutched tightly in my left hand. I couldn't believe it. He was gone. He was actually gone. Drago Bludvist, War Master of the Northern Alliance, the scourge of thousands of cultures, and the bane of trillions was finally dead, and rightly by my hand. I then looked down at Inferno, then at Drago's severed head.

It was done.

Rage welled up inside me. Here was the man who had taken everything from me: taking away my father by having his pet killer control Toothless, my best friend to do so, slaughtering the Hairy Hooligans as well as my friends without pity or mercy, and raping my mother and the woman I would spend the rest of my days on Midgard with.

"ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs, I screamed until I no longer could. I had done the impossible by avenging my loved ones, and my culture by slaying Drago Bludvist. With my thirst for vengeance now sated, my grip on Inferno slipped and ultimately fell out of my hand and clattered on the deck beneath my feet, extinguishing. With a choked groan, I then crumbled to my knees and groaned in agony, the wound Drago inflicted upon me was fatal, and I could feel my grip on life slipping. Placing a hand on my bleeding belly, I sputtered out blood, while breathing heavily.

"Hiccup!"

Looking up, I saw Raya, Namaari, Bayana, and Sisu approach him. The three warriors and dragon looked to see Drago's lifeless corpse, his blood staining the deck of the ship, and then saw the wound that I had received. "Oh no," Raya exhaled while clutching me tightly. "W-We'll get you to our healers, they can save you—"

A sudden explosion from below deck rocked The Conqueror, I then recalled this ship harboring a great many barrels of black powder for the cannons. Grasping Raya's arm, I groaned out. "Y-You... all need to leave, right... now! B-Black powder... below deck," coughing up more blood, I croaked weakly. "T-This... ship is going to implode any minute." As more explosions rocked the ship and caused the raging fires around us to engulf more of the ship, Raya shook her head fiercely.

"We must leave, now!" Bayana urged the princess.

Sisu summoned her siblings and any available dragon. Among them were Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf and Belch. Each of the dragons I had once faced in Dragon Training as a younger man noted I was dying and they all encircled me while releasing saddened growls. Wrapping my arms around the dragon's heads, I felt tears streaming down my face, knowing full well that I would soon reunite with the Riders of Berk in Valhalla very soon. "R-Raya," my friend and companion gave me her full attention as I groaned out. "T-Take this, and keep it safe until it hatches." Reaching for the satchel containing the Bewilderbeast egg, she threw it over her torso and nodded, promising me that she would ensure it would remain safe until it hatched. Coughing up another mouthful of blood, I then shook my head. "I-I'm not going anywhere, Raya," before Heart's princess could object and attempt to change my mind for a final time, I gestured around them. "After the massacre of my people and home, my only reason for living was to destroy Drago Bludvist and his army, and I have, with yours, Sisu's, and all of Kumandra's help. Now, I want to be reunited with my betrothed, my parents, friends, and people."

"Hiccup, please—"

Placing a tender hand on Raya's cheek, I smiled at her. "You and Namaari can live your lives in peace, as can all of Kumandra," I then turned away from Raya to violently cough more blood. Groaning in agony, I then looked to Bayana, Namaari, and Sisu, all of whom gave me looks of despair and pleading. "I know that I can live out the rest of my life in peace with you all, but... I wish to be by my family and my betrothed in Odin's halls."

Reaching down to place a hand on my shoulder, Bayana squeezed firmly and gave a nod. "It has been an honor to fight by your side, Hiccup Haddock," he then smiled in gratitude. "You have not only avenged the death of your people, but mine, and everyone in this world who has been wronged by Drago Bludvist and the Northern Alliance. Your actions will be immortalized for generations to know about, I will see to it personally."

Namaari felt tears swell in her eyes as she leaned in and pressed a kiss against Hiccup's forehead. "Thank you, Hiccup, for avenging my parents, and all my people who Drago had killed," she then gave me a reassuring smile. "Kumandra will never forget you. We will never forget you."

"Never," Raya said firmly as tears streamed down her beautiful face like waterfalls. "Meeting you was the best thing that happened to me, Hiccup Haddock because our paths crossed, and we both accomplished our respective goals. Thank you." Her touching words were rudely interrupted when another fierce explosion caused my friends and the dragons to cry out.

"Go, all of you! T-This... ship won't last much longer," I groaned out while giving them all encouraging smiles. "Go. And live in peace and harmony." Before parting ways, I turned to Heart's princess. "Raya!" Whirling around, she crouched down at me, giving me her full attention. I then placed Inferno in her hands and gave her a smile. "Something to remember me by." As another series of small explosions rocked the ship, I then gave her a firm nod. "Now, go!" After sharing one last farewell, all my allies and the dragons I've known since I was a younger man took off, leaving me to face the fate I wanted.

I then reached for Valkyrie's Fury and clutched it to my chest. "Farewell Midgard," I exhaled as a warm smile graced my bruised, bloodied face, I was surrounded by smoldering embers while the warship itself crumbled and fire surrounded me, preventing me from escaping, but that was the last thing I had in mind. Closing my eyes, I laughed joyously. "It gladdens me to know that Odin makes ready the benches for a feast. Soon, I'll be drinking ale from curved horns." Tears then streamed down my face as I looked up to the darkened sky, only to see it part open, and a ray of light shone down on me. While basking in the sunlight, I savored the radiant light on my cold skin and knew it was Odin preparing for my entrance into Valhalla.

For but a moment, I could hear the thunderous neighing of horses above me. Looking to the heavens, I then laughed as I saw radiant Valkyrie's perched on horseback, seeking me, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a soul who was brave enough to challenge an unstoppable force and warlord. For my sake of avenging the Viking people, I had become einherjar, an army of one, on behalf of avenging the sons and daughters of Scandinavia and therefore fulfilling my oath to the gods, further securing my place in Odin's grand halls.

"I'll finally be reunited with my father, my mother, my friends, and my beloved Astrid in the halls of Valhalla," I then reach for the pendant around his neck and looked at it with a wide grin, "Milady, my time has come for me to return to your arms. The Valkyries summon me home, and we will be together again."

Looking up, I could see his parents, his friends, and Astrid, all of them as radiant as the sun and all of them smiling at me. Now, we could all finally find true peace in Valhalla because they had been avenged. All the sons and daughters of Scandinavia that were put to the sword by Drago Bludvist and his army had been avenged. As Astrid descended, I beamed at her radiance, she was as beautiful as ever. Extending her hands out, I saw my betrothed giving me a look that told me to take her hands so that she could personally escort me to Valhalla.

"At long last, it's time for you to join us, to join me in Valhalla," Astrid beamed before looking into my tear-stained eyes. "Are you ready, babe?"

"Yes, Milady," I said passionately. "I'm ready. Take me with you."

Closing my eyes, I accepted my fate happily as the ship suddenly imploded; engulfing me in a violent blast that sent fire and debris flying in every direction.

I had gained glory and Valhalla. Where the brave will live forever.

(Normal pov)

Raya, Namaari, and Bayana held onto Sisu for dear life as they stayed clear of the blast. When they had reached land once again, the three warriors and dragons that had escaped the blast watched in awe and horror that Drago's mighty warship was now a smoldering mass of metal and wood, which was now sinking to the bottom of the sea.

"We have to find Hiccup, he could still be alive!" Raya exclaimed.

"Raya, Hiccup made his choice," Namaari said with sympathy, "I don't think there's nothing left of him to find." The chief of Fang looked to Drago's sinking warship and lowered her head. "Rest now, Hiccup Haddock III, you can enjoy peace in the afterlife with your loved ones."

"No," Raya croaked out as she fell to her knees and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Oh, that stubborn man. It didn't have to end like this!"

Bayana kept silent while turning around and seeing the rest of Kumandra's armies arrive to see the Northern Alliance armada now nothing but smoldering wood and metal. While they celebrated this momentous victory, some of the leaders approached the small group that had fled The Conqueror. Among these leaders were Benja, Tong, and Chanthou. They could sense the deep melancholy from Raya, Namaari, Bayana, Sisu, and the dragons, they looked to the smoldering flagship of the Northern Alliance and they understood.

Drago Bludvist was dead. Not only was the madman and his hordes gone, but so was the round eye foreigner who helped unify Kumandra, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III.

Though victory had been secured because of the young Viking's strategy, the cost of victory was high. There was much to say and do in the wake of such carnage and destruction, but for the moment, Kumandra's leaders and armies took a moment of silence in honor of Hiccup Haddock and all that he had done for them.

A/N: Whew! Talk about emotional, huh? As sad as Hiccup's passing was, he's more than happy to die and finally be reunited with Astrid, Stoick, Gobber, Valka, and the Dragon Riders, along with everyone he held close to his heart. I'm also gonna hit you guys with some music from the tv show: Vikings and it was going through my head while I was writing Hiccup's final moments, mainly at the 4:00 minute timestamp. Hope you guys enjoyed this heart-wrenching chapter, and I'll see you in the final update of this story!
