Twenty-two

Hi there! Back with another chapter. This isn't a request, but an idea that popped up in my mind. Its been some time since I wrote an OS of my own. Hehe... Hope you like. ❤

I've always been dissatisfied at how Laksh simply comes to Ragini's bedside after the Kavya fiasco and she just accepts his marriage proposal...just like that.

Shekhar accepts it...just like that.

What, WHAT, TAHW?!

It always made me feel that something should have made it convincing for Ragini to accept him again. So well, I here's a little something from my side.

Moving on...💃💃💃

"Words in double quotes." - Talking.

'Words in single quotes.' - Thoughts.

Timeline : After Laksh is trapped behind the wall and Swara, Sanskar and Ragini interrogate Kavya. Like in the series, Kavya is knocked out and gets unconscious while Ragini and the other two try to free Laksh.

Bleed My Heart Out For You

"Laksh!? Laksh, don't worry. We'll get you out of here." Ragini cried out as she tried to remove the bricks along with Swara and Sanskar.

"We need something heavy and strong to break it. Ragini, stay here. We'll get some tools." saying so, Swara left with Sanskar to find something useful.

Unbeknownst to them, Kavya had woken up.

As Kavya rounded the corner, she saw Ragini trying to get Laksh out. 'Oh no you don't!' she quietly approached her and pulled the knife back. "Die!"

Before Ragini could dodge it, the knife pierced through her abdomen. Kavya showed no mercy. She pulled it out and ran it again into Ragini's body.

Ragini could only open her mouth in a silent scream. She knew if she screamed, Swara and Sanskar would arrive. A gun lay near them, which she was sure Kavya would use on them. 'If that happens...none of us will survive. I mustn't let Kavya know they are here.'

Ragini's knees gave out from beneath her, making her fall down.

"You both will die alone here and I'll live happily ever after. Such a twisted fairytale, isn't it?" with one last kick at Ragini, Kavya ran away cackling to herself.

Ragini was thankful that at least she didn't know about Sanskar and Swara. That meant they would be able to free Laksh eventually. However, she didn't pay attention to her own condition. Huge amounts of blood left her body from the wound, weakening her further.

But Ragini had eyes only for Laksh.

With all the energy she had left, she managed shift one of the bricks. She sighed in relief as she saw him. Unfortunately, her relief was short-lived as she saw him almost dozing off. 'He's lost so much blood. With the wound in the head, if he sleeps now, his condition might get serious!' Ragini sucked in a breath with great effort. It was getting harder for her to breathe, but she didn't care. "Laksh, hold on. D-Don't sleep!"

"But...I feel so...tired..."

"Laksh...p-please...hold on..." Ragini herself felt lightheaded, but the thought of Laksh kept her awake.

Laksh looked at her with a drowsy look. "You're...you're bleeding..."

"Yes. Keep...talking...favorite color?"

"Red."

"That's it..." Ragini grit her teeth from pain, but nevertheless kept her smile. "Favorite song?"

"Bleed." Laksh let out a pained laugh. "Ironic...isn't it? We're bleeding...to...dea..."

"Laksh." Ragini froze as she heard him trailing off. "I...I bleed my heart out...on this...paper...for you..."

Laksh's eyes opened slightly hearing her humming. Despite her harsh breathing, she was trying to keep him awake. How could he give up?! "Cause you can't see...what I...I can't say..." Laksh hummed along to encourage her.

Ragini smiled as she heard voices of Sanskar and Swara. "I'm...dying here....cause I can't say wha..."

Laksh's heart skipped a beat when he heard Ragini's voice become smaller. Now that he looked properly, he could see how deep the wound was. In horror, his body seemed to sense the urgency of the situation and he struggled harder to free himself.

"I bleed my...my heart out just for you...."

Ragini's voice became softer and softer until it was no more than a whisper.

"Ragini!" came Swara's shout as she came near with Sanskar. "Oh my! Ragini!"

"I bleed my heart out just for you..." Ragini ended the note and breathed in a content sigh. 'At least Laksh would be saved now. I'm...I'm happy... I'm...' that was the last thought in her mind before the world went black.

#26 hours later#

Swriling.

That was what the sound was.

She could hear the swriling sounds of the arms of a ceiling fan. Slowly, her eyes fluttered open to see the white ceiling of the hospital room.

"Laksh!"

"You know, usually people think 'I'm alive' first. But in your case..." Sanskar sighed. "Glad you're awake Ragini. You gave us quite a scare."

Ragini swallowed to clear her dry throat. "Did you manage to save him?" on Sanskar's nod, she let out a relieved sigh.

"But what you did was madness Ragini! Why didn't you shout when Kavya attacked idiot?! The police caught her, but you could have died!"

"Let's just...just forget everything like a bad dream. I finally feel at ease now that everyone is okay."

"Ugh...yeah."

The hesitation in her friend's voice made her freeze. "Is...is something wrong?"

"Well um..."

Seeing the hard time he was having telling it to her, she knew it was about Laksh. "Where's Laksh?! You said you saved him!"

"We did. When you fell unconscious, Laksh's worry for you gave him the adrenaline needed to strengthen himself. He helped us break the wall and then managed to carry you all the way in the lonely road until the ambulance arrived." Sanskar looked guilty. "You had lost too much blood. And among us,only Laksh's blood matched yours."

Ragini gasped. "How could you let him give me blood when he was no better?!"

"Everyone tried Ragini! But he refused to get treated until they took the amount needed to heal you."

'He did it...all for me?' Ragini felt tears cloud her vision. "Where...where is he?!"

"He's in the ICU now. He had many fatal injuries. Th-Hey wait! You can't leave in this state!"

"Please Sanskar, help me get to him. I need to see him. Please!"

Sanskar's rationale told him to stop her. But of course, he rarely listened to it.

#I. C. U#

Ragini watched helpelessly from outside as the doctors operated Laksh.

She saw the doctor look around in panic.

"No! NO, LAKSH!" Ragini shouted desperately from outside, hoping it reaches Laksh beyond the closed doors. "LAKSH! DON'T LEAVE ME! LAKSH!"

"Laksh is unconscious Ragini." Annapurna spoke from where she stood along with the rest of the family, worried for Laksh.

"No! He has to listen to me. He has to! HE HAS TO!"

'Where...where am I?' Laksh looked around the white room with no edge where his voice echoed. 'This isn't real. Is this...is this me in my mind?' he couldn't feel any sensation in his body. 'My body is shut from the injections that made me unconscious I guess. But...but why haven't I woken up yet? Am I...am I dying?'

HE HAS TO!

Laksh turned around in shock at the familiar voice. 'Ragini? RAGINI!' he shouted, but there was no response.

"Laksh come back! Don't leave me Laksh!"

'I don't know if I should...I caused you so much pain. I caused my family so much hardships. I'm terrible! It's better I leave!'

"No! We're losing him! Nurse, emergency procedures!" shouted the doctor in panic.

Ragini could make out the doctors panicking, making her cry harder. "Laksh no...LAKSH! Laksh, don't leave. If you leave me, then I'll die!"

Laksh gasped as he heard the echo of Ragini in his mind. "No, Ragini! You ca-" he paused hearing her voice continue.

Physically, I'll be living. But I'll be dead from the inside Laksh! Without your presence, life for me is worthless! Do you want me to suffer forever? All I've ever wanted is to have a family with you. I love you! Please come back to me...please...PLEASE!

'Don't cry Ragini...please don't cry! I can't bear your tears!'

The doctor gasped. "He's coming back to us. Hurry! Stabilize him. Quick!" as the doctor kept instructing the staff, Ragini kept watching everything not knowing what was happening.

"Laksh..La-" she stumbled as she felt herself grow weak. 'Not now. I can't sleep now. I...I...' despite her heart's desire, her body betrayed her as she fell unconscious in Sanskar's arms.

#Five days later#

Ragini opened her eyes to her room. She was released the previous day. "Oh! Laksh?"

Laksh smiled. "Surprised to see me here?"

"The doctor allowed you to leave?"

"No. But I wanted to see you. I needed to see you!" Laksh took her hand in his. "Ragini, I've made so many mistakes and wronged you so much that...that I'm even ashamed to say sorry. And I know there's no way I can ever apologize enough for it. So I am asking you to give me a second chance. I want to marry you."

Ragini gasped. "La-"

"It's your choice. But I want this chance so that I can be the lover you wanted. I want to give you all my love and fill your world with happiness. I want you to have my heart. I want to show you you're loved. But...I won't force you." Laksh looked at her sadly. "Will you agree to become the wife of this fool who wants to change?"

Ragini kept staring at him without a word. But he didn't need one. Her smile spoke millions. And he promised himself to never let it fade away.
