*ring* *ring* *ring*

"Ugh...! Ragini, please pick up your phone!" Laksh groaned from the bed, placing his pillow over his head to block the noise. However, to his sheer annoyance, 'I'm sexy and you know it!' continued playing on the phone when no one picked it up.

'Damned phone! That little piece of nonsensical abomination made to ruin my sweet beauty sleep. Doesn't it know I need good sleep to keep my handsome face youthful?! Why I ought to...' Laksh felt like cussing out real bad. But with how lazy he was feeling, he did it all mentally. 'I'll murder that phone wit-...wait a minute...' Laksh suddenly realised the big hole in his judgement.

One, Ragini didn't live with him. She wasn't yet married to him. Yes, he would like her to live with him as his wife, but till now, she had only said yes to their engagement. Rest was all his imagination of Ragini being in his arms, sleeping beside him, cuddling with him...and perhaps with him stealing in a few kisses from her.

Secondly, even if Ragini was married by now to him, she wouldn't set her tune to such an obnoxious song! Yes, the song was awesome. But Ragini was a more...silent type of girl who preferred soft tuned songs.

Laksh frowned. "WHICH IDIOT SET THAT LOUD OF A SONG AS THEIR RINGTONE DAMN IT!?"

"Well, since you are the only resident in this room, the idiot is yours truly...you." Sanskar remarked as he came into the room. "I think you should pick it up. It has been ringing over and over for like 15 minutes. I had to leave my delicious omelette for it you lazy brat!"

"Check it. I'm sleeping some mo- hey! Leave my blank-ow!" Laksh groaned in pain from the fall as Sanskar pulled over the covers.

"Why should you get your sleep when I didn't get to enjoy my breakfast?" Sanskar sneered.

Laksh slowly got up, cracking the cramps in his neck. "Fine, fine." Yawning, he reached for the phone and tried to read the name through the sleepy clogs in his eyes. "Ragini's calling so early? Aww...my dear future wife misses me so much!"

Sanskar just rolled his eyes and left him, mumbling about eggs and Swara's delicious recipes.

Laksh's sleepiness disappeared at once when he redialed Ragini's number and she picked up on the first ring. "Good morning my lovely sweet Ragi-"

(The heck is good about his morning DAMN IT!)

Laksh blinked to himself and pulled the phone away from his ear to read the screen. 'Yeah, the number seems okay. I dialed Ragini's number and not someone else's.' her behaviour confused him. "Did something happen to Sharmishtha Aunty?"

(No. But something will if you don't come quickly. She has a fever, but this will make her have a heart attack!")

Laksh gasped. "What's wrong?! Are you all okay? Are you hurt?"

(Laksh save me! I can't get out of this alone. Please come quick!)

"It's okay Ragini, don't panic. I'm here. I'll be right there as quick as possible. Just tell me what happened?" As he spoke, he continued towards the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth.

(Even I don't know how this happened. I...)

Laksh's eyes widened as he heard a distant voice on the phone screaming out to Ragini.

(Ragini they're trying to enter through the sealed gate. Ragini!)

He then heard her panicked voice.

(Laksh come quick. PLEASE! I'll hold them off as best as I can till you're here!)

"Ragi-" he heard a beep as the phone went dead. Laksh's eyes widened further and he quickened his actions. After brushing and freshening up, he haphazardly threw on some clothes and rushed to get his car keys. Grabbing them, he practically ran down the stairs.

As he passed by the dining table, he grabbed the first thing that he saw and ran away, shouting a "thank you" behind him.

If he was attentive, he would have noticed that what he stole was an omelette.

An omelette that was on the plate.

In front of a Sanskar who was inhaling the aroma of it before experiencing it's delicious taste and bringing happiness to his tastebuds.

Or would have experienced actually since it was now gone.

Swara, Sanskar's wife and Ragini's sister, bit her lip hard trying to suppress her laughter as she watched Sanskar's face. It looked like a child's when someone stole his ice-cream. In a flash, his expression turned into one of a murderer.

"Laksh. Maheshwari. You're. Dead!"

#Gadodia House#

"Ragini!" Laksh screamed the moment he reached their house. He noticed a big crowd in front of her house. His worry which was already on extreme, skyrocketed making him run towards the gate. "Move! Move aside damn it!" pushing through the mob, he squeezed himself in and banged on the gate. "Ragini! Ragini, I'm here. Ragini? RAGINI?!"

There was a click and the gate opened enough to let him in. Once he was inside, it was locked again by Shekhar.

"Shekhar ji, what happened?"

Shekhar turned around. However, to his shock and confusion, Shekhar grinned. "I really don't know what or who did it. But I'm enjoying the drama. I always did think you got Ragini too easily."

"Eh?"

Shekhar rolled his eyes. "After everything that happened, Ragini suffered too much because of you. She even turned evil because of you!"

Lakbsh flinched and looked down in shame. After all, he wasn't wrong. "I know. And I will never fully forgive myself for it!"

"Well, yeah? I wish Ragini didn't either. But she's smitten with you." Shekhar sighed. "Well, I agreed to let her marry you since it makes her happy. But..." Shekhar smirked. "I promised myself to make you sweat for it. Ragini however, made me break my promise and be "nice" to you." Shekhar admitted with a glare.

"Your daughter is one of a kind." Laksh told him with a genuine smile. "I don't know what amount of good I must have done in my previous life to get her as my wife."

"Oi! She never has married you yet. Stop making assumptions."

"But you said you won't do anything, didn't you? So we're in the clear." Laksh grinned. However, his grin flatered when he saw a maniacal laugh boom from Shekhar.

"Oh, I did say that. But it seems you will have to work for Ragini's hand." Shekhar clapped his shoulder and passed by him. "Good luck Maheshwari. You'll need it!"

As Shekhar walked inside the house with an evil giggle, Laksh was further scared of what he would find once he went inside.

And scared he was.

For there were not one.

Not two.

But a whole whopping... about a dozen of guys sitting at different places in the Gadodia living room. No wonder people outside were peeping inside. All the men seemed rich and famous. He remembers seeing some of them in magazines on young, successful entrepreneurs.

But what made Laksh's eyes widen (if they weren't already wide to its full) was the rose or the rose bouquets in their hands.

'The Gadodias have only two daughters. Swara is already married and currently at the Maheshwari mansion. So...so that leaves...' Laksh growled. "GET THE HECK OUT OF MY WOMAN'S HOUSE!"

All the men looked up at his outburst. They seemed puzzled and curious as to who he was.

"I am Ragini's to-be-fiance. And so, I would like all of you to leave. Immediately!" He spoke wtih authority.

The men seemed shocked for a moment before one of them snorted.

"Yeah, sure. Your excuse to make us leave is quite unimpressive. You're not the smartest tool in the shed, are you?"

"I'M NOT LYING."

Another scoffed. "You seriously want me to believe that you're the one Ragini has selected to be her man?"

"Yes. Because it is true!"

"Sure. And I'm the king of Atlantis." spoke another, mocking him.

"LAKSH!" Ragini shouted from above where she stood in the stairs. She was holding her mother Sharmistha who looked like she had a headache. Ragini didn't dare come down though, staring warily at everyone present there.

"Ragini!" As he tried to walk ahead, his path was blocked by the men. "Let me go to her!"

"Why should we?"

"Because we love each other!"

"He's right!" Ragini shouted. "And tomorrow is our engagement!"

"Then perhaps he is making you marry him. Forcing you milady!" Spoke one.

Ragini shook her head. "No. He loves me!"

"If that was so, why did you put your profile on the 'Dream-choser'?"

This made both Laksh and Ragini pause. Only one thought plagued there mind. 'The heck is that?!'

Seeing their clueless faces, one of the gentelman sitting on the couch chuckled. He slowly got up, straightened his suit and bowed towards Ragini. "Hello my dear. My name is Ratan."

"Ratan Tata?" joked another from beside him.

Ratan rolled his eyes. "Very funny Nikhil. Anyways, since you seem to wonder my friend Laksh-less..."

"What did you just say?!"

"He practically called you 'aimless' in case your Hindi is weak and you don't know the meaning of your name." Nikhil added helpfully, earning a giggle from Ragini upstairs. Nikhil turned to her with a charming smile. "That sounds heavenly. You are indeed one of a kind my Ragini."

Ragini blushed and looked away. "Um...thanks I...guess?"

"Don't you dare lay your filthy eyes on my Ragini!"

"My?" Ratan questioned with a raised eyebrow. "Ragini's profile clearly said 'single' on Dream-chaser."

Laksh glared at both Ratan and Nikhil. "One, Ragini will be my bethrothed in a few days. And two...WOULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS THIS DREAM-CHASER?!"

"It's supposed to be an app like tinder. You know, where single men and women create profiles looking for their life partner." Shekhar answered from where he was sitting with a cup of tea in his hand.

"And you know that because?" Sharmishtha asked from beside Ragini, her weak health forgotten.

Shekhar raised his hands in defense. "Hey, don't go doubting me Woman." he pointed towards his nearby seat. "This guy here explained it to me. I'm having a handful with you two women in my house, I don't need more to caw at me."

"But I didn't create any profiles on any such app. I don't even know what they're talking about!" Ragini defended.

"Then did your profile get created by their imagination?! Without your consent no one could have used your phone to create it Ragini." Laksh surmised.

Ragini was already stressed with her mother's sickness, the men at her house, her father's ignorance of the big problem(he seemed happy instead!) and now, even Laksh was doubting her. "Are you calling me a liar!?"

"What? No! It's just..." Laksh knew that it was someone who created the profile from Ragini's phone. "You might have been careless an-"

"Are you calling me IRRESPONSIBLE?!"

"No, you misunderstood Ragini." Laksh groaned. "You were just careless!" Laksh's eyes widened. 'Oops, that came out wrong.'

"Are you accusing me that I accidentally did it? I'm not uneducated to do something like that! How could you say such things Laksh!" Ragini shouted, angry at him.

'I meant you are careless to trust someone else with your phone! This is what happens when I don't get my early morning coffee.' Laksh thought, rubbing a hand down his face. He refrained from speaking, afraid she would twist his words into something else. "It's not that, okay?"

"Then perhaps it is that you didn't trust your future fiance. Perhaps you never trusted her in the first place." Ratan added fuel to the fire as he stood beside Ragini with a smirk.

'Wait a minute...when did he get up there?!' Laksh was pissed. "Get down here damn it! And discuss it with me like a Man!"

"Why? Weren't you discussing with Ragini but you want to discuss with a "man" as you say. Is it that you consider women illogical? How are you tolerating this insolence Ragini?" Nikhil chirped up, further increasing Ragini's anger on Laksh.

Laksh felt like crying. All his words were being twisted and being used against him. "Ragini, don't listen to them. You know I love you, right?"

"And so she has to trust you since you love her? Then why didn't you trust her when she loves you? She told you she didn't create the profile." Nikhil sing songed, enjoying the drama.

Laksh looked at him with murderous eyes. "I'll convince Ragini later. Now, I'll beat you into a pulp you slimy, rotten bastard!"

"Oi, behave. Don't speak cuss words in my home." Shekhar calmly stated, reading his newspaper while sipping his tea. How he was so calm and unaffected, Laksh didn't know.

Laksh glared at Shekhar. "Why aren't you saying anything?! They're after your daughter! Shouldn't a father protect her daughter from young bachelors who try to gain her?"

"Well, going by that logic, I should also beat you with a broomstick and chase you away as well. Besides, I feel proud that my girl is so precious that so many rich, young, successful men want her hand in marriage." In disappointment, he sighed. "Too bad, she chose the useless, immature child in the body of a man as her future other-half."

"My, my. I love your sense of humour sir. I would love to have a father-in-law as smart and humourous as you." Ratan praised, coming to shake Shekhar 's hand.

'Wasn't he up the stairs just a minute ago?!' Laksh shook his head of those thoughts, coming back to the main topic. "Look! All you need to know is that Ragini belongs to me an-"

"I don't belong to anyone! I'm not an object or property that you can possess!" Ragini shouted.

"Yes I agree." Nikhil added. "You are more valuable than anything. If you choose me Ragini, I'll value you more than my own life!"

"No. He will always value money more. I would know since he is my best friend." Ratan stated. "I, on the other hand, will cherish you like a glass unicorn...beautiful and fragile...yet, something magical and royal!"

"Shut it!" Ragini screamed in anger. She had it with men. "Idiots the lot of you!" Ragini didn't care if she was being too rude or over reacting. She had had it beyond limits. She felt she would explode with all the anger in her. She had had it with everyone assuming what she wanted and what she thought. She had the right to make her own decisions. And she would speak out her mind.

Laksh grinned, wagging his eyebrows at Nikhil. "Yeah, heard that. Shut it Nikhil."

"You shut up as well!"

Laksh spluttered in shock. "But...but I didn't even do anything!"

"Don't argue with my Ra-"

"I am not yours either Ratan so shut up as well! Shut it all of you and get the heck out of my house!" Ragini shouted with a red face, looking at all the men, focusing her glare at last on Ratan who was smiling. "What? Do I look like I am joking?!"

"No. But you said my name."

"I told you to shut up and leave!"

Ratan grinned. "Yeah, but with my name. You didn't take the name of the others. Which means I must mean something more to you."

Ragini could feel her ire increase. Oh, how she wished she had lazer eyes so that she could fry all the irritating men in front of her. "Get. OUT! ALL OF YOU BRATS!"

"Me too?" Laksh asked meekly.

"ESPECIALLY YOU!" Ragini hissed. "You dare accuse me of creating a fake profile."

"No, I didn't. I was just thinking that maybe perhaps you had changed your mind about marrying me sin-"

"After everything I did for you, you dare doubt my love for you?! Are you calling me unfaithful?"

Laksh felt like smacking his head into a wall. What he meant was that perhaps he had caused her too much pain and so she didn't want him. But he phrased his words wrong and now, Ragini thought he was doubting her character. "You're just so angry that you're taking everything as an attack. Lets...lets calm down first, yeah? You're not in the right mind."

"Ooooo...Ragini he's indirectly calling you crazy!"

Laksh felt like ripping apart Nikhil into pieces with his teeth. "Stop poisoning her mind, you slime!"

"Ragini? Maa,Baba... what's going on?" Came a voice from the doorway.

Swara and Sanskar stood there looking at everyone in confusion. Swara was worried since Laksh hadn't returned with any news. Perhaps her mother's fever had worsened and thinking that, she and Sanskar came to visit.

Upon noticing her sister, Ragini's anger disappeared, being replaced with sadness. "Swara...Swara! Look what they're doing! Everything is a mess!"

Seeing her sister in distress, Swara moved forward towards where Ragini was and pulled her into a hug. At once, Ragini's tears made way along with silent sobs. Swara was shocked and pissed seeing her sister cry and glared towards Laksh. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

'Why is everyone against me today?!' he let out a frustrated sigh. "I don't cause troubles as all you seem to think!" When he saw the blank looks the Gadodias and his brother gave him, he sweatdropped. "Okay, I might have taken some wrong decisions in the past like choosing Kavya, betraying my family, lying to Ragini...but that's beside the point!"

"See Swara? Now he even doesn't think that betraying me was a big deal!"

"THAT WASN'T WHAT I MEANT!"

"Oh my poor Ragini." Swara held her closer while glaring over her shoulder at Laksh. "You jerk. Don't come near my sister until you learn to apologise!" with one last glare, she took both her mother and sister inside.

Shekhar slurped up the last bit of tea in his mug and burped. "Well, that was the best entertainment I had in years. Good morning to me indeed." Getting up, he addressed evryone. "Gentlemen, I appreciate you all coming here. But like this young man said" he pointed at Laksh. "Ragini had already chosen him. Perhaps someone else did a prank by using my daughter's photo. I'm truly sorry."

The men seemed disappointed, but nevertheless left with their goodbeyes. Nikhil didn't leave without sticking his tongue out to Laksh, while Ratan 'accidently' collided with his shoulder.

Laksh was thankful towards Shekhar. However, he didn't understand one thing. "Didn't you say you weren't happy Ragini choosing me? Then why help me?"

Shekhar snorted. "Oh, I didn't help you. I just wanted to have a chess match since Sanskar is here. At least one Maheshwari was born with a brain. Besides..." He smirked, walking towards Sanskar. "You pissed off Ragini enough. Now, it will take some time before you're able to convince her. Good luck brat!"

Laksh looked at Sanskar as his last hope. "You'll help me, right my good, smart, intelligent brother?"

Sanskar scoffed and turned around to leave with Shekhar. "My omelette that rests in your stomach will help you since you stole it from me. Bye!"

Laksh literally did cry out this time, flopping down on the floor in misery. That was definitely not a good morning for him.

A bell was heard as the milkman arrived on his bicycle. "Good morning!"

Laksh felt his eye twitch. "Good? GOOD?! I'LL SHOW YOU GOOD MORNING!"

"But...but...aaa!" the man all but hollered and hurried away as fast as possible, screaming out about 'psychotic wierdos'.

Once everyone left, two tiny feet walked into the room with a guilty look. Swara, while coming to the kitchen to fetch water for Ragini, noticed the little girl. "Hey Mika. What are you doing here?"

"I wonly thwought Ragini di was pwetty and swo I wanted to show the world. My bwother posts pwetty pictures of hwim on his pwhone twwooo!"

'So that's what happened!' Swara felt laughter bubble up in her throat. However, an evil glint was in her eyes. 'Let Laksh suffer and ache while trying to convince Ragini. He deserves to work for it. After all, Ragini suffered her share. He should to!'
