Rama and Lakshmana along with Vishvamitra started moving towards the Hermitage of Vishvamitra . On their way to the hermitage they came across an ashram near the Pangong lake and Rama was so mesmerised by the view of the beautiful mountains covered with snow and the lake . He in order to know more about that place stopped Vishvamitra and asked him about it. 

PANGONG LAKE - HIMALAYAS

Vishvamitra replied that the name of the ashram is SIDDHASHRAMA ( A Mythical ashram and puranas says that they can be seen only by saints and also believed that the Munis and sages still penance there since 1000's of years)  and also added that the ashram was associated with the ASURA KING named BALI (Grandson of Prahalada)

STORY OF BALI

Bali is a powerful and a generous King of demons and has achieved the fruits of many sacrificial fires . Once he decided to perform a Yaghna by which he can become more powerful than the other gods and also can defeat them . Lord Indra came to know about this and hence he along with the other Gods visited Lord Vishnu and explained him about Bali's generosity and also about the yaghna and in return Lord Vishnu asked them not to worry and that he would look into the matter .

BALI ( We can see this in the VIMANA of all the south Indian temples)  is considered as a Guardian to the Gods .    

Later Lord Vishnu changed his form into a DWARF BRAHMIN and visited Bali . Bali welcomed him with respect and asked him what he wants and also promise him that he would give whatever he asks . Lord Vishnu requested him to give him a TWO AND A HALF length of a LAND , so that he can sit there and penance to God . Bali also gave him a land as he asked .

But the dwarf Brahmin changed himself into huge form and stepped his first step on the whole earth and the second step on the sky . Lord Vishnu asked where should he keep his remaining Half step. Bali , being the most generous demon requested Lord Vishnu to step on him to cover the remaining half step and Lord Vishnu also did so .

Lord Vishnu pleased by the generosity of Bali declared that place would be called as SIDDASHRAMA and also added that the person who would penance at that place could achieve success very soon .

Vishvamitra after narrating the story of Bali  invited Rama and Lakshmana to his hermitage which is also situated in Siddashrama . Rama and Lakshmana along with Vishvamitra reached the hermitage and Vishvamitra asked them to take rest for sometime .

Later Vishvamitra awarded Lord Rama different types weapons like DHANDCHAKRA , KALCHAKRA , DHARMCHAKRA , INDRACHKRA , VAJRASTRA , BRAHMASTRA , SHOOL OF LORD SHIVA , GADAS ( Maces ) , PASH USED BY LORD GANESHA AND LORD BRAHMA ,AND KANKAL , MOOSAL, KINKANI USED BY DIFFERENT DEMONS etc. for slaughtering Tadaka and also stated that those weapons are rare ones and they have the ability to defeat Gods , Demons , Serpants, Yakshas . Vishvamitra adviced Rama to use it only for good purpose and cleverly . Rama thanked him and took his blessings .
