{Pre Comp} The Beginnings
After a month of waiting, and definitely not forgetting about the comp existing, I was finally given a message on discord from Todd. It was an invitation to the server for the Comp, May 16th had finally arrived.
I hastily accepted the invite, both excited and nervous for the whole event to begin. The very first thing I noticed when joining the comp was the rules, I had to react with a thumbs up or whatever so that the hosts knew that I understood what was going on.
I should stop for a moment here to introduce the hosts and make sure they get their proper notoriety, so allow me to show you who they are:
Main Host: Todd Radishologist
He's been the host for all 7 seasons of the Radish Kik Comps, hence the name of the comps. He's a pretty chill guy in general and can be pretty fun to hang out with, but we mostly like to make fun of him.
CoHost: Thomas ThomasPaul61
He competed in a few seasons of RKC and has been a close friend of Todd's as far as I've known. He's really funny and I'm always smiling whenever I have a conversation with him, this led to some fun during the comp.
CoHost: Abby Rocknrebel44
Definitely the most caring host out of the three. She was the host I related to the most, and she also is a genuinely kind person and a great friend to have as I've gotten to known her more and more. She also competing in two seasons of RKC, and won both of them. I inspired my gameplay after her.
There, not the best introductions, but you guys will get to know them a bit more as the comp goes on, anyway.
After taking a peek and accepting the rules, I took a look at the competition, hoping to see some old friends I had, and maybe some people who I never had the chance to get to know. The first people I instantly noticed were Cat, Glitch, Leo, and Fall.
Cat had always been a friend of mine, in fact they were the first person who I ever met when it came to the comps. I was paired up with them in my first season (Season 4) and we went pretty well together. I also got to know them more through a writing group I was added to, and they always were great to hangout with.
Leo and Glitch were also part of this writing group, so I was happy to see they were both alive as well. Another reason they stood out was because they both were precious victors. Leo winning season 4, and Glitch winning season 5. Fall was also a victor, she won season 2.
There was one more person I was hoping to find, and as I looked at the list, I scrolled to the bottom, and at the very end of the list there she was-
...I can't believe she's here- I thought to myself.
Her name is Naomi.
Authors Note: In the RKC Book, Naomi is referred to as Luna, but I decided to go by her proper name because that what I
know her as.
I met her through the Comps as well, but in more of a iffy way. She wasn't actually competing in the first season I took part in, in fact, I only knew of her because she competed in Season 3, and was the winner of that season. I looked up to the way she played the game, and was my favorite contestant in that season, but there's more to her than just that.
Naomi was also a part of the writing group I was a part of, and was definitely the most important one to me in the group, mostly because of my history with her.
She and I dated in between seasons 5 and 6, and I sort of disappeared, and then again after season 6, we tried it again and I made a terrible mistake.
I panicked. I didn't know what was going through my head and I ruined my chance. I can remember the exact thing that happened with her. I was on a vacation during the summer in Missouri, and I had decided that maybe it'd be best to delete discord altogether (that's the platform we had decided to text and communicate on) and my thought process was blurred. I was just so terrified of the idea of having an online relationship with a girl who lived so far away from me. I was never able to truly open up to her and tell her my real feelings, and how I was scared. So I took the cowards route, and I ghosted her.
If there was any regret that I had out of all my previous adventures on Kik, it was the way I treated her. I want to take it all back, but now I have to live with it, and I have to see her everyday during the comp for as long as we're both alive in it.
I was actually excited to see her competing, I saw this as an opportunity to maybe fix my mistake. I just needed to wait for the right time to talk to her about it. After noticing her on the competitors list, I made a little pact to myself:
I swear that I will never target you Naomi, not after what I did to you.
I never really got that thought out of my mind, but since the comp hadn't even started yet, I decided that now wasn't the time to be worrying about her. There were other things to do. One of those things was catching up with everyone in the chat, and that was a fun time! There were 30 people entered into the comp, this'll be a doozy...
One of the people active immediately was Alvin. He was my idol in season 1, and the reason I decided to take a shot and join the comps. He was talking about being gay or something, he seems to do that a lot.
Another person active at the time was Chess. She talked about f**king my mom, well, f**king everyone's moms, actually.
Shortly after everyone began getting acquainted again, Todd made the first real announcement of the Radish Reunion Comp.
PRE-COMP SIDE CHALLENGE: FIND COLE
Cole was the most dramatic player in season 5, and I couldn't find him anywhere to invite him to the reunion comp. His Wattpad is ultimitecreative but he does not answer his private messages (probably doesn't use Wattpad anymore). You will need expert stalking skills to find any contact info from him (Facebook, Instagram, Discord, anything really). I'm not sure if it's possible to find him because he's completely off the grid, but if you do find him, have him message me on Discord or anywhere. You have until 10pm EST Friday to get him to message me. If you successfully find Cole, you will earn 7 Radish Points. Happy stalking!
I read the announcement, and my first impression was me being very puzzled. The comp hasn't even began, and there was already an opportunity to get ahead of the game? I was definitely going to at least try and crack the case on where Cole is.
Cole was a past competitor in the RKC series, and was pretty controversial in the season he participated in. Apparently he's gone off the grid.
Now is also a good time to introduce the Radish Point system, since this challenge offers them.
Radish Points are a currency used in this season of RKC that can be used to purchase Radish Rewards. These can give you an advantage in the game, and there are many different types of advantages that they'll give you. Some of them will even mess up your competition:
Here are the available Radish Rewards and how much they cost:
-Host Hint:This will give you a hint about the current challenge when you decide to use it. Not applicable to side challenges. Costs: 3 Radish Points
-Headstart:This will give you a head start on the next challenge. If you use it before a speed challenge, you will start with a few more points than everyone else. Costs. 4 Radish points
-Double Vote: This will make your vote count twice for the contestant you choose. Can stack with a max of 2. Costs: 5 Radish Points
-Minus One Vote: This will subtract a vote from the contestant of your choice. Can stack with a max of 5. *Costs: 5 Radish Points*
-Vote Reveal: This will reveal who voted for who during an elimination ceremony. Costs: 7 Radish Points
-Vote Turnaround: This will cause the contestant with the second-most votes to be eliminated instead of the contestant with the most votes. Must be used before a ceremony. Costs: 10 Radish Points
-Conjoined Twin: Choose a contestant to be "conjoined" with for three challenges. The two of you will share immunities, participation, eliminations, etc. This means if one person gets immunity, so do you; if one person gets eliminated, so do you, and so on. Costs. 12 Radish PointsCosts double if you want to use it on two people that aren't yourself.
-Risky Immunity: Choose a contestant (or yourself) to earn immunity for this challenge, but earn double the votes at the next challenge's elimination ceremony. Costs: 15 Radish Points
-Immunity Idol:This will grant you immunity if you receive the most votes during an elimination ceremony. Costs: 20 Radish Points
-Host Answer:The hosts must answer one question you give us. It can be any question, such as who voted who, who's in an alliance, etc, what's the next challenge, etc. Costs: 30 Radish Points
-Instant Death:This will instantly eliminate the contestant of your choice. If said contestant possesses an immunity idol, these Rewards will cancel out and nothing will happen. Costs: 40 Radish Points
-Resurrection:Brings an eliminated contestant of your choice back into the competition. Costs: 40 Radish Points
Here's a simplified version of their prices, in case the mesh of words seemed too confusing:
Host Hint: 3
Headstart: 4
Double Vote: 5
Minus 1 Vote: 5
Vote Reveal: 7
Vote Turnaround: 10
Conjoined Twin: 12 or 24
Risky Immunity: 15
Immunity Idol: 20
Host Answer: 30
Instant Death: 40
Resurrection: 40
Speaking of Radish Points, the hosts made another announcement as soon as the Radish Rewards system was announced:
Hello everyone! All 30 contestants are here. To celebrate the reunion, we will be giving out 5 Radish Points to 5 random competitors in the next few minutes! Good luck!
There was a vote to make the randomized public or private, the majority went with a private vote, while I went with wanting a public one so I knew who got the points, but I guess people wanted to keep it to themselves. I wasn't chosen by the randomized and so I didn't get any free Radish Points.
Anyway, back to the Side Challenge-
Knowing what was at stake, I decided to do some searching. The first place I went to look was Wattpad. I sent him a few messages to see if he'd respond. Hi Cole! It's Andrew! I'm from Todd's Kik Comps, I was wondering if you could do me a favor? I approved this message and sent it to him via Wattpad.
I waited for about 30 minutes to see if I'd get a reply, which I didn't get one, and decided to ask around some of his old friends to see if they knew where he went. I asked an old friend of mine who's name is Will. I couldn't get anything from him, and I tried another friend of his named Echo, who never responded.
After waiting about 2 more hours to see if I could get a response I gave up and decided that it'd be best to log off for the night and regroup my thoughts.
What a first day, there was a lot that happened, I was put through a lot of emotions, and I even got to do a little snooping around! It was a pretty fun time, and I'm excited to see what happens next. I'll update my next chapter on the actual beginnings of the comp and maybe even talk about some formed alliances that were made with some people about the comp.
Hopefully you enjoyed!
-Andrew
