The Radio Girl
the only real safe house was hundreds of miles away. So, we had to improvise, we looked around to find a not zombie infested safe house. No luck, then I saw a house with the lights on. Surprising. I looked back for my friends they were already heading towards the house.
"What are you doing," I yelled. Personally, I was scared from my best friend turning into a zombie I did not wanted to lose one or all of them. They all turned back towards me.
"Be quiet, you said to not talk so much," Katie said.
"Well in case of an emergency we can talk in a normal voice," I snapped back
"Well you did not speak in a normal voice, you yelled!" She shouted. That was the end of our conversation. I walked in the house. I heard static and somebody speaking.
"Zombie apocalypse, the antidote is in Nevada in los, aaahhh!" Then I heard more static. Then I heard footsteps heading our way. I drew out a wooden pole from the home store at the mall.
"Who are you," A shy voice said,
"Who are you," I said,
"Are you human," the voice said
"Yes! Of course, I am!" I snapped.
"Ok." She and she came into view. Her hair was disorganized hair and her clothes were very dirty. I almost mistaken her for a zombie! She also reeked of sardines, like she not taken a bath in years! I knew why she smelled like sardines because there was a bunch of emptied sardine cans in the corner on the room. Probably that must had been her food source since the apocalypse had started.
"Um, what are the radios for" I asked,
"I'm trying to figure out where my parents are," She responded.
"Oh, do you want to join us" I said,
"Why" She said
"Were trying to find the antidote and maybe we we'll come across your parents." The reason I said this is because this girl needed some help.
"Okay, but I'm bringing my radios." She responded
"That will be hard though," Katie said,
"We already have to fight zombies and help these doofuses,"
Oof, that hurt, I thought.
"Hey," Arlo said angrily to Katie.
"Let's just let her bring them, okay!" He said.
"Whatever." She said. Then we left the house, with the radios. It was more trouble than I thought because the radios made so much noise. It basically was like "Hey over here zombies, come and devour us!" We had to have a plan for the radios not to make so much noise. Then I had an idea. The backpack radio headphone machine! How it worked was, we put a bunch of cables and stuffed it into a backpack and stuffed the radio too, then attached a pair of headphones in the cables and put a big antenna on the top of the backpack, so she basically had to carry her own weight on her back. Thankfully she was fine with it. We walked over to a car and hid behind it. Last summer my dad had sent me to a camp where we learn safety skills and thankfully one of those skills was how to hotwire a car.
"Does anybody know how to drive," I asked,
"Yes," Arlo said
"Are you good at driving," I asked,
"Kind of." He said.
"We'll that's reassuring, but will do, it's not like theirs any speed limit." I said. Then we drove off and onto the highway.
