005 ↠ Sirius and the giant peach

It's been several years since Ophelia held a book, let alone read one. She was haunted by their voices, the memories. She couldn't handle it and so she burned all the books she owned. After that she stayed away from books. She avoided places with books, she hasn't read books since she was a teenager. She tried to leave it all behind but no matter how hard she tried, books always seemed to come back to her.

Ophelia was hesitant at first, she couldn't believe what she was about to do. She left it all for a good reason. Silvertongue is not a gift, it's a curse. But as she heard the explosions and screams of people, the city under attack, she knew she had to do something, even if that means doing the thing she hates.

Ophelia read out loud and brought stories to life.

A group known as the Avengers were in the middle of the fight. They ran and flew around the city as they fought the chitauri. They were getting tired, they got hurt, they're doing everything they can to stop Loki, but how are six people going to fight against a whole chitauri army and the God of Mischief? Granted they weren't six ordinary people but an army is just too much for them.

Tony Stark flew above the city in his Iron Man suit, shooting chitauri and bringing down leviathans. He communicated with the team through the comms and talked to Jarvis as well. He never thought that one day he would be fighting creatures from other worlds, but there he is.

"What the hell?" Tony slightly tilted his head to the side "Jarvis, did you see that?"

"With what eyes?"

"Now is not the time for your jokes. Did you see what I– there it is again!" Tony stopped in midair and stared at the object in curiosity "is that-"

"A giant peach" Jarvis answered.

"Is there a giant fruit competition going around?" Tony questioned.

The peach, nearly the size of a house, rolled down the street squishing all chitauri in its path. It was almost like it was being controlled by magic, the way it moved. The peach took turns at corners and knew just where to squish the chitauri. It kept rolling and rolling.

"Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this" Tony said through the comms.

"Seeing what?" Natasha Romanoff asked back "the chitauri? Yes, we see them"

"No I mean the giant peach"

"Is that a reference to something?" Steve Rogers questioned.

"There is a giant peach rolling down the street. I swear, I'm not lying" Tony told them.

"This is not the time for your jokes!" Thor said.

"He's not lying guys. I see it too" Clint Barton told the group "it is a giant peach. It looks so juicy. I want to bite it"

"What? Clint!"

"I want to bite the peach, Natasha!"

"The big green guy beat you to it" Tony informed as he watched Hulk jump on top of the peach and take a sizable bite out of it.

"At least we know it's not one of Loki's illusions" Thor said.

"Is anyone not concerned that the giant peach might be poisoned?" Steve asked the group "or better yet, why is there a giant peach in the first place?"

"Genetic modification?" Tony offered.

The fight went on, and they noticed that there aren't as many chitauri to fight but more came out. It was clear they needed to shut the portal but they became distracted when they saw more oddities.

"Why didn't anyone tell me that earth has wizards" Thor said through the comms.

"Because we don't?" Clint replied.

"I just met an eccentric man with an electric blue eye moving from side to side. It it appears that someone took a bite off his nose. He was interesting" Thor explained "he had a wand and some kind of flying– I don't even know what that was"

Tony was about to say something but he felt a rough shove as he flew over the city. He looked at his right just in time to see the man Thor just described.

"Move it, tin man! Constant vigilance!"

"Constant– Alastor Moody?" Tony silently questioned. His question was answered when he saw Moody aim his wand at a chitauri and it fell to the ground, frozen. He looked down and saw bright flashing lights zigzagging across the street. He then looked back up and saw more bright flashes coming from rooftops.

"What the hell is going on?" Tony questioned.

Ophelia and the kid didn't move from their place. They watched everything unfold before their eyes. The first thing Ophelia read out was the Order of the Phoenix. It's been years since she's seen them and when she explained to them what's happening they were willing to help.

The next thing that followed was the giant peach. Just the peach, not any of the bugs that live in there. The peach couldn't be moved by itself, so Ophelia wasn't that surprised when Sirius Black said he wanted to control the peach.

"You know who's really qualified to deal with aliens?" The kid asked Ophelia "the Men in Black. You should've read them out"

"The Men in Black is a comic! I can't read out comic books!" Ophelia told him.

"Why not?"

"Because you need description. Dialogue doesn't have description. If someone is describing something, then maybe" Ophelia told the young boy "comic books are just pictures and dialogue"

A chitauri body slammed against the pillars and the two jumped back to avoid getting hurt.

"Sorry!" Nymphadora Tonks apologized before taking off.

"I think we might need something more than the peach and the Order" the kid commented as he tried to catch a glimpse of what's happening above them "like something that has instant kill. If we had some weapons from Men in Black, then–"

He cut himself short when he turned to his left and saw Ophelia leafing through The Hunger Games book. He stared at her in confusion, wondering what she has planned. Suddenly she stopped at chapter fourteen and looked up at the boy.

"Do you have a pencil? Or a pen? Highlighter, something to write with?" She asked.

"Y-yeah" he crouched down and dug through his backpack. He pulled out a pen and handed it over to her "what are you doing?"

"Hold this" she handed him the open book. He held it open and stared at Ophelia in confusion when he saw her writing on her arm. She wrote fast but her handwriting is understandable. Once she was done she told the kid to hold the book up so she can read.

"More likely they will be one of the Capitol's mutations, tracker jackers. Like the jabberjays, these killer wasps were spawned in a lab and strategically placed, like land mines, around the districts during the war. Larger than regular wasps, they have a distinctive solid gold body and a sting that raises a lump the size of a plum on contact" as Ophelia read, the tracker jackers started to come alive.

The boy became worried, he doesn't want to get stung but Ophelia knows what she's doing.

"Most people can't tolerate more than a few stings. Some die at once. If you live, the hallucinations brought on by the venom have actually driven people to madness. And there's another thing, these wasps will hunt down anyone who disturbs their nest and attempt to kill them"

Hundreds of tracker jackers came to life and buzzed around, ready to attack. The kid shrieked and dropped to the ground to try to protect himself but he heard Ophelia continue reading, only it wasn't the book. She's reading what she wrote on her arm.

"But these wasps are not going to attack humans. Humans are not threatening them, it's the creatures from other planets. The creatures coming out of the hole in the sky"

The tracker jackers didn't go to attack the two people there, they all moved in sync as they faced outside where the threat lies.

"They are the threat and the tracker jackers saw that and tracked them down, stinging every single one of them, inflicting great pain and possible death!" They flew out and stung every chitauri they saw. They tracked them, never loosing them and caused great pain to them, hallucinations and death.

"How did- how did you do that?" The kid slowly stood up and stared at Ophelia in shock.

"Don't ask questions" she told him.

"Don't ask questions?" He gasped "I have multiple, several questions!"

But they both stood in silence as they watched the events unfold. Several minutes later, the portal in the sky closed and the chitauri fell to the ground. They knew it was all over and it was time to call the tracker jackers back. Ophelia wrote something on her arm, read it and held the book up as the tracker jackers flew into the book, disappearing from the world.

"How?" The kid asked.

The Order returned and the giant peach rolled over to the group.

"A giant green creature took a bite of the peach. I don't know what that was but it was amazing" Sirius Black said with a giant smile on his face "I want to see him fight a Basilisk!"

The Order ignored Sirius and the kid began to freak out because Harry Potter characters are standing in front of him and he doesn't know what to say or how to act.

"Thank you" Ophelia thanked the group.

"No problem" Tonks smiled at Ophelia and then caught sight of the boy "Who's the kid? He's adorable!" She pinked his cheeks and he cried in pain.

"He's just a kid" Ophelia waved it off. Tonks stopped pinching his cheeks and smiled at the boy.

"Can I just say that you are really cool" the kid told Tonks as he rubbed his cheeks "I love the way you change your appearance and– oh my god, that's so cool!" He jumped up and down when Tonks made a pig snout and then a duck beak.

Ophelia approached the other members of the Order with two books in her hands "I know you guys want to stay and talk but people will come out soon and will see you and the giant peach– Sirius, stop eating the peach!"

"It's ssho gooof!" Sirius replied with a mouthful of peach.

"You squished creatures with the peach!" Remus Lupin told his friend. Sirius ignored him and continued to eat the peach.

Ophelia sighed and grabbed James and the Giant Peach, she threw the book at the peach and it disappeared when it made contact. The book flew back to Ophelia.

"I don't mean to be rude or anything but..." She opened their book and gave them a sad smile.

"We understand" Kingsley Shacklebolt told the girl "it was nice seeing you again. Take care" he touched the book and he was gone.

Alastor Moody followed, then Tonks, leaving Remus and Sirius out of the book. They didn't say much to the young woman. They simply stared at her and gave her sympathetic smiles.

"Don't stop reading" Remus told her.

"I can't promise that" she shook her head.

"Then take care of yourself" Sirius told her. Ophelia smiled small and nodded.

"I missed you guys. It was nice seeing you" she told them.

"It was nice seeing you too" they nodded and touched the book. Nobody would know that the Order of the Phoenix was there to help them. Nobody but the Avengers who were extremely confused.

Ophelia took in a deep breath and gave the kid the books back.

"Go home" was all she told him before she turned around and began to walk away.

The kid stood in place confused by everything that happened. He still has many questions and Ophelia is the only person who can answer them. He quickly stuffed the books into his backpack and ran after Ophelia.

"Wait! Please! You have to help me understand!"

"Go home and forget what happened!"

"How am I suppose to forget what happened? I've never seen anything like that. I don't understand what I can do and I thought I was the only person who could do it but I now know I'm not the only one. You can do it and so much better" the kid told her "please help me understand. Will you teach me?"

Ophelia stopped walking and the kid stopped right behind her. He stared at the back of her head as he waited for her to answer. She bit down her bottom lip and debated with herself on what to do.

The past Ophelia would've helped the kid understand everything, she would even teach him, but the present Ophelia would tell him to forget everything because it's a curse. To go away and to stop reading.

She turned around and faced the kid "this isn't fun, okay? This, what we can do, it's a curse. Forget about it and go home! Stop reading out loud and live your life, kid"

"I'm not a kid! And look, you obviously have your problems with this but please, I can't do it. Not on my own. You're the only person I know who can do what I can, and I want to understand what this is" he pleaded.

"What about your family?" Ophelia sighed, she's tired and she wants to go home.

"I don't really–" he rubbed the back of his neck and looked down.

Ophelia understood and sighed again. Why are you doing this, Ophelia? All you ever wanted was to stay away from books but here you are debating with yourself whether to help this kid or not.

She doesn't know why she did it, it must've been because she knows how confusing and troubling it is at the beginning. Or because he's just a kid with no family, but she gave in. She still thinks being a Silvertongue is a curse but the kid is determined to learn.

"How old are you kid?"

"I'm not a kid. I'm twenty one" he answered.

"You're twenty one?!" Ophelia asked in shock. She stared at him wide eyed. She can't believe it, he looks so young "you look like a kid. Oh my god, what a babyface"

He blushed and looked down in embarrassment "yeah, people often have the same expression when I tell them my age"

"Alright, not-really-a-kid, what's your name"

"So you're going to help me?" His face lighting up with happiness.

"If you tell me your name" Ophelia told him.

"Romeo" he answered.

"You gotta be shitting me"

"Dorian Wilde" he finished.

"Romeo Dorian Wilde" Ophelia repeated.

"Okay, what's your name?" Romeo asked back.

"Ophelia Verona"

Romeo gasped "Verona? Oh this was so meant to be. Romeo" he points at himself "and Verona" he points at Ophelia "The place in Italy where Romeo and Juliet takes place. If this isn't destiny then what is?"

"I have made a grave mistake"

Writing this chapter with the Order, has made me want to publish the Harry Potter story I've been working on. Should I publish it or not?
