Scandalum Magnatum
Third Person POV:
Los Angeles, California
Y/N and Hailee's Villa
The chill of December touched the windows as Y/N waited for Hailee to join him in the cozy living room of their Los Angeles villa. He had something important to share with her, something that required her understanding and support
Y/N: Hey, babe. Can we talk for a moment?
Hailee, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, nodded and settled onto the couch beside him.
Hailee: Of course, what's up?
Y/N: So, you know my rookie season in F1 ended with a bang, right?
Hailee's eyes sparkled with pride as she nodded.
Hailee: Yeah, you were incredible out there.
Y/N: Thanks, babe. Well, here's the thing. They've invited me to Italy to receive the Rookie of the Year award.
Hailee's face lit up with excitement.
Hailee: That's amazing, Y/N! Congratulations!
Y/N's expression turned more serious as he continued.
Y/N: Yeah, it's incredible, but... it falls on the same day as your birthday party.
Hailee's smile faltered slightly as she processed the information.
Hailee: Oh... I see.
Y/N reached for her hand, squeezing it gently.
Y/N: I'm really sorry, Haiz. I wanted to be here with you on your special day, but this is a big honor for me too. I hope you understand.
Hailee looked at him, a mix of understanding and disappointment in her eyes.
Hailee: Of course, I understand, Y/N. This is a huge moment for you. We'll celebrate when you get back. And don't worry, I won't let your absence ruin the party.
Y/N's heart swelled with gratitude for Hailee's understanding.
Y/N: Thank you, Haiz. You're the best.
Hailee leaned in, planting a soft kiss on his lips.
Hailee: Always, Y/N. Always. Let's go get some brunch.
Y/N: Sure, go take a bath, I'll...join you later.
Hailee: Don't keep me waiting, Maverick.
When Hailee leaves the living room, Y/N calls his mom
Y/N: Mom...I talked to her about it. Did you get Tina Turner?
Donna: What do you think? Of course I did. I'm Donna, remember?
Y/N: Oh my God, thank you very much, mom
Donna: Did you tell her the other thing? That you'll make it to her birthday?
Y/N: Nah...that's surprise number two.
Donna: Keeping it mysterious, huh? Well, I'm sure she'll appreciate the surprises. Just make sure to enjoy your time in Italy and bring back some good stories for us.
Y/N: Will do, Mom. Thanks again for all your help.
As they wrapped up the conversation, Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for the surprises he had planned for Hailee's birthday
But just as he was going to go up and shower with Hailee, Griffin calls him
Griffin: Hey Y/N...I know you're on vacation, but can you help me out with something here? Corporate stuff.
Y/N: Oh...sure. Can I ask what it's about?
Griffin: Some guy's suing McKernon Motors. Can you...come by the office? I'll give you the details.
Y/N: I'll be right there. Just need to go take a shower with your sister. Oops, I overshared.
Griffin: Oh you-
Y/N hangs up after that and goes up to the bathroom to take a shower with Hailee
He gets in the bathroom and meets with Hailee, who was already taking a shower
Hailee: What took you so long?
Y/N: Griff called. Said something was up at McKernon. I told him I was gonna help him
Hailee: Harvey Specter Junior on the job. Since you're not gonna be here...why don't you come get what's yours?
Y/N smirks at Hailee's suggestion, understanding her playful hint. He quickly undresses and joins her in the shower
After their shower, Y/N and Hailee spend some intimate time together. Following their private moments, Y/N dresses up in an elegant Tom Ford three-piece suit to meet with Griffin at McKernon Motors
Hailee admires Y/N's appearance as he stepped out, adjusting his Tom Ford suit with a casual confidence
After that, Y/N and Hailee stroll into the garage, surrounded by an array of luxury cars glistening under the fluorescent lights.
Y/N, with a mischievous grin, gestures toward the lineup of vehicles, inviting Hailee to make a choice
Y/N: Okay...choose. Which car do I take to meet Griff?
Hailee scans the collection, her eyes twinkling with excitement as she considers the options before her
Hailee: How about the DB10?
Y/N: Not bad...
Y/N, appreciating her choice, smirks and opens the door of the Aston Martin DB10.
He then gets in the car and gets ready to leave
Y/N: I'll be back before you know it, okay? Take care of Maximus, Teenie and Brando.
...
Y/N arrives at the McKernon Motors lobby in downtown LA with his Aston Martin DB10 and leaves it for the valet to park it
As the elevator doors open, he steps out into the sleek, modern lobby of the company headquarters. All eyes turn toward him as he walks confidently through the space, his presence commanding attention
McKernon Employee 1: Is that?
McKernon Employee 2: Yep...the boss' brother-in-law
After that, Y/N gets to Griffin's office and sees Griffin and Olivia there
Olivia: Uncle Y/N!
Y/N smiles warmly as Olivia rushes into his arms, her infectious energy brightening the room. He lifts her up, a twinkle of pride in his eyes
Y/N: Whoa! What are you doing here, princess?
Griffin chimes in, explaining the unexpected visit.
Griffin: Take your daughter to work day...
Y/N sits down across from Griffin
Y/N: So...what did you want to tell me?
Griffin: We've been hit with a lawsuit, Y/N. An ex-employee is claiming wrongful termination and harassment. It's a mess.
Y/N: Tell me what happened
Griffin: We found out there was an employee embezzling funds from the company. Also, he had an affair with another one of our employees. Expensive travels, diamond bracelets, you name it. When I found out, I told him to resign and I fired the woman he had an affair with. Now, she's filing a lawsuit for wrongful termination and gender discrimination.
Y/N: So, we have evidence of embezzlement?
Griffin: Yes, we've got the financial records, and the embezzler confessed when confronted.
Y/N nods in approval.
Y/N: And the affair?
Griffin: It's messy. There are emails and messages that imply it, but nothing concrete. It's mostly he-said, she-said.
Y/N: We need a solid legal team. Someone who can turn this around for us.
Griffin: Already on it. I've got the best in the business on retainer.
Y/N: You know what? Let me draft the team. I know two guys that'll help us in this case. Just let me make some phone calls.
With determination in his eyes, he exits Griffin's office, ready to mobilize his resources and confront the legal challenges ahead
He then grabs his phone and calls his first option for this case
???: Hello?
Y/N: I bet you and Rachel are freezing your asses off up there in Seattle
Mike: Y/N...it's been a while.
Y/N: I have a problem over here in LA. Some employee is filing a sexual harassment lawsuit. You remember that Monica Eton case you and my dad worked on almost a decade ago?
Mike: Yeah, what about it?
Y/N: Well...something similar came up. I know you have your things in Seattle with the clinic and all, but with you here, we might have a chance of ending this early.
Mike: Okay, I'll see what I can do. Send me the details and I'll take a look. But you owe me one, alright?
Y/N: You got it. Thanks, Mike. I'll send everything over right away.
Mike: Talk to you soon, Y/N.
Y/N: Take care, Mike. And don't worry about flight tickets. I'll send you the jet.

Flashback, May 2007
Y/N's age: 8
Pearson Hardman,
Manhattan, New York
Harvey has been notified by Jessica that someone from their firm is stealing from them, and she wants him to discreetly identify the culprit. Harvey asks her to promote him to partner if he comes through, and Jessica agrees.
Obviously, Y/N was there in Harvey's office. A part of take your child to work day, since the young boy was back from school and his closest relatives either lived on Riverside or Connecticut, he had to stay with his parents, who worked at the same place
Y/N: Auntie Jessica!
Jessica: Hello there, little one! What brings you to the office today?
Y/N: Daddy said I could come to work with him today! He said he's going to catch a bad guy.
Jessica: Oh, is that so? Well, your daddy is a very smart man. Maybe you'll learn a thing or two today.
Y/N: I hope so! I want to be a badass like him when I grow up.
Jessica: I'm sure you will, dear. Now, why don't you go see your mom outside while I talk to your dad for a moment?
Y/N: Okay, Auntie Jessica!
Y/N goes to Donna outside of the office while Jessica talks to Harvey about the embezzler in their firm
Harvey: It's Daniel Hardman.
Jessica: What?
Harvey: He's been playing the shell game. Moving money out one account to another. For an entire year, your partner sold you out!
After his investigation regarding the embezzler, Harvey found out that who was stealinng from the firm was Daniel Hardman, name partner alongside Jessica and managing partner of the firm
Jessica: Daniel has never done anything unethical. And the fact that you don't lik-
Harvey: I know. Isn't reason to falsely accuse him. But I'm not.
Jessica: You falsely accused Louis
Harvey: I stake my career on this
Jessica: You are.
Harvey then throws a couple of financials on the desk
Harvey: He did it
Jessica picks it up and looks at the financials,
Jessica: Shit...he did.
Harvey: You have to go to the DA.
Jessica shakes her head
Jessica: I'm going to Daniel.
Harvey: Who's not doing their job like a man now?
Jessica: I'm giving him the courtesy of explaining himself.
Harvey: You shouldn't...
Jessica: What would you do if it were me?
She then leaves Harvey's office and goes to confront Daniel
In the secretary booth, Y/N was sitting on a chair playing on his Nintendo DS while Donna listens to Harvey's meeting with Jessica on the intercom
Y/N: Mom?
Donna: Yes, honey?
Y/N: Why aren't you and dad married?
Y/N's innocent question catches Donna by surprise, and she momentarily pauses her focus on the intercom conversation between Harvey and Jessica. She takes a deep breath, considering her response carefully, knowing she needs to navigate the topic delicately with her young son.
Donna: Well, sweetheart...sometimes people have different ways of being together. Your dad and I...we're good friends and we love you very much, but we both have our own lives too.
Y/N: But...but why do I have to go sleep in dad's place on one week and sleep in yours another week?
Donna: Sweetheart, sometimes families have different ways of being together. Your dad and I want what's best for you, and that means making sure you spend time with both of us. It's like having two homes, and you're always welcome in both
Y/N: Okay. By the way, dad's going to take me to my first official karting race in Watkins Glen this Sunday. Are you coming?
Donna: Of course, sweetheart. I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Y/N: And then, I'm going to be like Ayrton Senna...driving in the rain. And...and then I'll have a cool mustache just like Nigel Mansell
Donna laughs
Donna: I'm sure you'll be as great as they ever were, my little speed racer
Y/N: And then...I'm going to date lots of women like James Hunt!
Donna: What?! How do you even know about James Hun-
She looks at Harvey in his office
Donna: Nevermind.
A couple of minutes later, Jessica comes back and walks over to Donna
Jessica: Donna, I couldn't find Daniel in his office. Do you know where he is?
Donna: He takes long lunches on Tuesdays.
Jessica nods, looking somewhat frustrated.
Jessica: Thank you, Donna. I'll catch him later.
Donna: Anything else you need, Jessica?
Jessica: Not at the moment, Donna. Thank you.
Jessica leaves once again
Donna then picks up some folders to deliver to Monica Eton in her office
Donna: Come on, kiddo. Let's walk
Y/N eagerly follows his mother out of the secretary booth, setting aside his Nintendo DS. Donna walks gracefully through the office, heading towards Monica Eton's office.
Y/N: What's in those folders, Mom?
Donna: Just some paperwork for Monica. She's got a case to prepare.
Y/N: Cases... like what Dad does?
Donna: Yes, exactly. She's a lawyer too.
Y/N: So...she's like Dad but not as cool.
Donna chuckles.
Donna: Everyone's different, sweetheart. Your dad is...one of a kind.
As they reach Monica's office, Donna gets in and doesn't see Monica there, but she sees a young paralegal there
Donna: You're not Monica...
Paralegal: Oh...no, I'm-
Donna: Rachel Zane...
Rachel: How did you know that?
Donna: I'm Donna...I know everything.
Rachel: Everything?
Donna: You started three months ago, you have a peach yogurt, you've got a cute pair of suede pumps I totally plan on stealing...and your father's Robert Zane, name partner at Rand, Kaldor and Zane.
Rachel looks down, embarassed
Donna: And apparently, you don't like when people know who your dad is.
Rachel: Well, they just...they treat you differently
Donna: Your secret's safe with me.
Y/N: And I'm Y/N!
Donna chuckles as she explains Y/N's presence at the firm.
Donna: Sorry about that. He's our little office buddy.
Rachel: Is he...
Donna: Oh, absolutely. Our closest relatives aren't from around here, and he's not a fan of babysitters. So, sometimes, he hangs out with us after school.
Rachel chuckles
Rachel: I better get going.
Donna: Is it the cafeteria? Because it is way better than it used to be.
Rachel: Nope. I live for Foie Gras Fridays.
Donna: They don't have that.
Rachel: Don't they?
Donna smiles
Donna: You're weird...we'll be friends.
She puts the folders on Monica's desk
Donna: Anyway, I'm just gonna leave this stuff here for Monica.
Rachel: She should be back pretty soon. She just has Tuesday Pilates at Chelsea Pier.
Donna: Every Tuesday?
Rachel: Now, I thought you knew everything.
Donna smiles deviously at Rachel, reminding that she heard Harvey say that Hardman takes long lunches at Tuesdays over the intercom
Donna: I do...
After that, Donna rushes to Harvey's office and puts Y/N in the secretary booth
Harvey: What are you so bouncy about?
Donna: You are gonna be so happy that I listen to your intercom...
...
Present day
Los Angeles International Airport
Y/N is picking up Mike in LAX in a hangar for their deposition against the people involved in the scandal at McKernon after sending his private jet to Seatlle
Finally, the door to the jet opens, and Mike steps out, his presence commanding attention despite the casual setting of the hangar. Y/N's face lights up with a smile as he approaches his friend, eager to reconnect after their time apart
Y/N: Mike! Good to see you, man.
Mike: Y/N! It's been too long.
Y/N: Welcome to sunny Los Angeles. How was the flight?
Mike: Smooth as silk, thanks to your private jet.
Y/N: Anything for family, right? Did you take a look at the details I sent you?
Mike: Yeah, I reviewed everything on the flight over. It seems like quite the mess.
They get in the car and the conversation goes on as they make their way to the McKernon Motors offices
Y/N: So I take it you're aware you'll be in charge of deposition?
Mike: Yeah...I already know what to do, don't worry
Y/N: Oh, and Liam is a part of the team as well. We're both your associates.
Mike: Liam? Scottie's son? How old were you guys when I first came to the firm?
Y/N: Twelve...
Mike: Holy shit...I'm getting old.
As they arrive at McKernon, they navigate through the corridors, passing by busy cubicles and closed office doors, until they reach the conference room where the deposition will be held.
Outside the room, they meet with Liam, who was waiting for them
Outside the conference room, Y/N and Mike encounter Liam, who is waiting for them with a serious expression.
Liam: Glad you're here. I...think it's better for me to just show you.
Liam's expression grows somber as they enter the conference room, and Y/N and Mike immediately notice Daniel Hardman sitting across the table, his presence casting a heavy atmosphere in the room.
Y/N's jaw tightens at the sight of Hardman, while Mike maintains a composed demeanor, his gaze steady and focused
Daniel: Hello, boys...
