Chapter One

The atmosphere was heavy, the neon lights flashing to a song I wasn't into. I could smell the sweat in the air that rolled off bodies that grinded into each other.

Why was I here?

"Marcus, can you stop being moody about my club?" My eyes fluttered up, focusing on my friend, Heather. Her lips were pursed in annoyance, and I simply smirked at her, both of us sharing a glare of fire behind our silver eyes.

"It's not my scene," I reminded with a small hum.

She smirked, "one day it will be."

"Yeah, yeah. You had a drink you wanted me to try?"

She laughed, quickly mixing me an alcoholic concoction. When what she made was bright pink in a shot glass, I made a look of disgust.

"What is that?"

"Love at first sight. It's a punch to the gut."

"Why?" I asked her.

She shrugged, "you said you don't believe in it, so I thought I'd give you a taste of it." She was signaled away by another patron, "be right back."

I let out a joking huff and looked around the club, more towards the booths that were often occupied by college students. Too much time on their hands.

I missed my college days, they went by too quick.

Just as that though occurred to me, a sharp jolt shot down my spine, eyes snagging on a pair of calming green eyes. My gaze lazily retracted to look more at the owner of the green jades, seeing freckles skin and soft, messy brown curls and a gorgeous smile that seemed foreseen and he stared at me with the same intensity.

He took in all of me, the way his eyes shifted from my dark black hair and moonlight eyes, to my body, I could tell he was appreciating me.

He snapped out of it when his friend nudged him, and he looked away. I felt what rise to my face and turned back to the bar, looking down at my drink.

I decided to take my shot and knocked my head back, feeling a sweet taste on my tongue and a gut punch to my stomach.

Okay, yup, so this is what it was?

I was about to call Heather over to tell her I was heading home when someone occupied the seat next to me. Curiously, I glanced over, and my heart jumped when it was pretty eyes.

"Hey," he said, mustering up as much confidence as he was able.

I smiled at him, "hey."

"You..." his thoughts faltered for a second, "you come here often?"

I smiled at the awful attempt at a pick up line, "Not really. Only when my friend makes me test her drinks."

"She work here?"

A smirk played onto my lips, "she owns the place."

A look of shock crossed his face, but he quickly recovered, "so if you don't come here often, where will I be able to find you in the future?"

"Play your cards right and maybe you'll find me out my house." I let a small pause pass, "but I'm usually at the local book store, the one by the mall."

"I hope I'll see you there." He glances at my empty shot glass, "what were you drinking?"

"Something my friend made me. She calls it 'Love at first sight' and its pretty good."

"Love at first sight?"

"I don't believe in it and she made it to mock me."

"I did not make it to- no I totally did." Heather he returned to me, eyeing the new addition.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Connor."

"Connor? Cute name," she giggled, "I hope Marcus over there isn't a huge bore."

"Hey!"

"I'm kidding."

I rolled my eyes and checked the time, "I need to go soon, early morning."

"Relax, you can live a little."

I rolled my eyes at her, curiously glancing over at Connor, who smiled into his hands.

"Here, I'll make you both a shot of love at first sight, then I'll leave you alone, mostly since I need to head home soon."

I said, "fine," I'm a joking way, and she just rolled her eyes herself, fixing us both a shot.

"So, how old are you?" He asked.

"Twenty five."

"I'm twenty two."

"So you're a college student?"

He laughed, "Yeah, do we give off a college student aura?"

"Sorta."

He laughed again, it was bubbly and I really liked the way it sounded, "what about you? I thought you were a college student."

"I graduated years ago. I'm a writer."

"Oh? What do you write?"

I shrugged, "nothing all that important, but it pays the bills."

"You'll have to let me read something of yours someday."

"Here's your drinks." Right, Heather.

We took our drinks and looked a each other, "cheers?" I said jokingly.

He chuckled and clunked our glasses, both of us knocking our heads back to take the drink.

"Enjoy," Heather hummed and left our side.

"So, aren't your friends concerned you ditched them to see me?"

"They can get over it. I was worried I'd miss my opportunity."

"Well, opportunity wants to know if you could walk me home?"

"Tell opportunity that I'd love to."

By the time we had gotten to the door to leave, he had gotten his jacket from the booth he abandoned.

He must've said goodbye to his friends.

So we headed out, the brisk fall air nipping at our noses. I half regretted not bringing a jacket myself as we started walking.

"Geez, it's chilly," I mummered. Connor quickly took off his own jacket and draped it on me, smiling innocently at the heat that burned its way to my cheeks.

"Better?"

"Y-Yeah. Thanks."

"It's not problem," he said warmly. "So, where are we going?"

"Not too far. It's only a couple blocks away."

He smiled at me, his eyes holding a delight that I was sure I mirrored. Something about Connor...

Even though I just met him, I felt an overwhelming desire to talk to him and be near him. It was unlike anything I'd ever get with anyone before.

"So, I know this is forward, but," I glanced over at Connor, "Are you inviting me in or is this simply a walk home?"

I was slightly taken aback, but.... "whichever you want it to be. You'll be getting my number either way."

I finally got him to blush, the heat filling up his cheeks with a cute rosy pink. He shruged awkwardly at my suggestion, but wasn't at all opposed to the idea. "I'm just... Ive never done this before."

"Neither have I." I admitted honestly, "first time I've even thought about it."

He let out a relieved sigh, "I'm glad it's not just me who's clueless."

It seemed to be the right moment to slip our hands together, interlacing fingers as we walked. He happily accepted this as I lead the way to my place.

"Do you... have everything?"

"I have lube, but I don't have condoms," I said.

"Should we... get some?"

I thought for a moment and shook my head, "it will be alright. Maybe I'll get a stomach ache, but I can manage."

He blushed even harder at the notion of me being on bottom.

I did want to learn more about him, but I had plenty of time to.

"Ah, here we are!" We had reached my home, a modest, one story building with a nice atmosphere to it. "If you want to stop at any time, you can."

Connor looked at me, watched me unlock the door, then, "there's no way I'd want to stop now."

I was pushed back into my home, ready for a night of bliss.
