memorial day weekend
This is a massive weekend for many reasons, none bigger than the fact that it's memorial day weekend where we come together to honor everything the armed forces have done to keep us all safe for hundreds of years by fighting for our freedom. We honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice because if it wasn't for these legendary and heroic people, we wouldn't be able to enjoy things like racing and countless other things in our daily lives.
Trucks
Kyle Busch
So this season in the Camping World Truck Series Kyle Busch has seen both of his protégés be victorious which is great for his whole organization, but as a driver Busch wants the glory of being in victory lane. Plus he gathers some extra seat time for the 600 on Sunday. So it can be a freaky Friday domination by Kyle Rowdy Busch
Xfinity
AJ Allmendinger
Allmendinger has been a driver very under the radar in the Xfinity series for 2022. The Kaulig driver is leading the standings and is the only driver to get top 10s in all the races this season. That kind of consistency will pay off in the long run so who knows? Saturday might be a surprise win for some should the 16 get to the finish line first
Today is crown jewel race day for F1, IndyCar and NASCAR Cup. They all occur on Sunday, first is F1
F1 Monaco 🇲🇨 the pole sitter has the advantage of track position when it's very difficult to overtake but the weather could be a factor. Will it be rain or shine?
Charles Leclerc 🇲🇨
For the first time this season, Leclerc has lost the point lead to his rival Max Verstappen. His home grand prix on the streets of Monte Carlo has not been kind to the Ferrari driver, he even got in the barriers with Niki Lauda's 1974 Ferrari in Rascasse during a historic event. Hopefully he got his home grand prix jinx out of the way before the big day on Sunday
Sergio Perez 🇲🇽
Checo in my opinion is on the verge of a breakout. Besides his DNF in Bahrain he has finished 4th,2nd 2nd 4th 2nd at all the races since then. Perhaps now he has some extra motivation and a chip on his shoulder for this weekend after last time out in Spain. Perez was disappointed and frustrated at Red Bull for using team orders late in the race when he was told early on when his team told him to make way for Max that he was going to return the favor. Now at the biggest race in Monaco where Perez has finished 3rd in 2016 would love to be on that top step and dare I say send a message that he is a dark horse championship contender being 25 points behind Verstappen heading into the race.
IndyCar at Indianapolis for the greatest spectacle in racing
Helio Castroneves 🇧🇷
Helio Castroneves has the opportunity to become the 1st driver ever in the 106 years that this race has run to become a 5 time Indianapolis 500 winner. Last year the Brazilian somewhat felt like he was fighting for his career in this race a season ago. Nonetheless he drove brilliantly to outduel the eventual 2021 IndyCar champion Alex Palou to win his 4th Indy 500. Imagine the party that would happen in front of a sold-out crowd to see the first ever 5-time Indianapolis 500 winner with someone as popular as Helio Castroneves
Jimmie Johnson
A Cinderella pick if you will. Chip Ganassi Racing has been fast in the month of May, Johnson also finished 6th at the only other oval this season at Texas. If Johnson can win this race he'll be among drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya and Tony Stewart who have won races in stock cars and open wheels.
Coca Cola 600: Ayyy now this is NASCAR'S longest race of the season where it tests drivers, machines, and the teams to stay focused for the longest amount of distance through the late afternoon all the way to the night-time.
Denny Hamiln
There are a few things Denny Hamlin hasn't accomplished in his career, and the Coca-Cola 600 is one of those things that have eluded him. 2022 has been very frustrating for Hamlin minus a win at home in Richmond and another top 5 at Kansas which were his only 2 top 10s this year. However, after the All Star race it looks like all the bad luck could be out of the way to finally claim the 600.
Joey Logono
A Cup series champion and Daytona 500 winner are the 2 biggest prizes you could win in NASCAR, but there are no other crown jewels on Logono's resume. Victorious in the 2016 All-star race held at Charlotte shows some positive memories, but Logono is a fighter behind the wheel. Give him a chance late in the race and he'll do whatever it takes to win.
