Main hu hero tera- Part 2
RECAP:
Anika is kidnapped by shivaay and is held hostage in a small cabin far away in some forest, she asks him to take her out for a walk and when he does, she grasps the chance to run away...now continued......
Stupid.
Stupid. Stupid.
Stupid woods, stupid darkness, stupid kidnapper with stupid long legs and stupid Usain Bolt speed. How did he even out run her! She huffed hugging herself tighter to keep the freezing cold away.
She replayed the last few, miserable hours of her life. The second his back was turned, she had sped into the dark woods. She was pretty much sure that by the time he would notice her absence, she would’ve already found the highway and be waving a car down, to take her home.
Alas! it was the exact opposite what had happened. The first thing she had underestimated was the bushes. The forest was not at all what the geography channels showed them. Every inch of the freaking forest floor was filled with sharp twigs and thorny bushes, which slowed her speed so much that she wasn’t even jogging.
Second, and the most important thing she had downplayed ( which should have been her first actually) was the capabilities of her wonderful kidnapper.
Turns out this guy, was not only all too familiar with the woods but also ran like a cheetah. No sooner had he figured out her stupid escape plan. He was on her heels and had caught up to her in no time.
And no amount of her screaming and thrashing could stop him from tying up her hands. Again. And a bit more firmly this time.
And the best part?- They were so busy chasing each other ( or maybe she should just say when he was chasing her). That they hadn’t quiet noticed that they had wandered far away from the cabin where she was held hostage a few hours ago.
And there they were. Starved, homeless and chilled to the bones. Nothing but a small fire that kept them alive.
“ Wanna go for a run again?” a rude arrogant voice bought her back to reality. She looked up, her eyes meeting with a piercing blue ones.
Shivaay smirked down at her, his arms full of firewood and his hair artfully tousled from all the running and wood picking.
God! how did he still managed to look so good after what that they went through, while she probably looked like a mess?
He cocked an eyebrow, and she looked away, embarrassed for her staring. Ignoring his question she rubbed her hands against. “ It’s all your fault!” she grumbled.
“ My fault?”
“ Yes! If you hadn’t chosen a freaking forest as a hostage site. Then we wouldn’t be stuck here” she said angrily.
He snorted “oh, my choice of hostage site was perfect if you hadn’t tried being smart and ran right into the deepest part of the forest.”
“ ugh! Why am I even talkin-” her foot slipped, just as she got up to walk away. She yelped as her body flung backwards. But before she could hit the ground, hot arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her up. Her body slammed into a warm chest. She gasped as their faces stopped, just inches from each other.
“ Careful” he murmured, his air creasing her face softly. He smelled of something incredibly amazing. Something intoxicating. Almost addicting. Anika swallowed, her throat suddenly parched.
He smirked and she blinked, pulled out of her trance. She ripped herself away from his body. “ Don’t touch me!” She hissed “ I can take care of myself, now go away and leave me alone! I don’t ever want to see your face!!”
She turned away and stomped away from him angrily. She expected him to come back with a rude reply but she was only met with silence. Seconds ticked by and she turned around slowly. There was no one in sight. She looked around beliwered, he had really left her!
Her heart pounded as the reality of her situation sunk in. She was in middle of nowhere, dirty and hungry and now, lonely. She heard a sound behind her and she whipped around, her hand flying to her throat. Tears stung her eyes as fear filled her heart.
Images of horrible things that would happen to lonely girls wandering in the woods, rushed through her mind, making it hard for her to breathe.
She heard a rustle of leaves a shattered, irreversible sound that sent a chill right downtown her core. Her heart stopped as she suddenly made out a dark shadow moving through the tears.
A shiver ran up her spine and she couldn’t help the feeling of tremors wreck havoc through her body. She looked around frantically for any weapon, when the twigs snapped and the shadow moved closer, bringing her attention back to it. She girted her teeth, determined not to let a scream. She let out a ragged breath and closed her eyes.
“ Are you alright?!” a voice spoke up, her snapped up and she gasped. Shivaay stood there with a puzzled look on his face as he took in her scared state.
She didn’t stop or even slow down, as she ran up to him, and threw her arms around his neck. He staggered back in surprise. A consoling gust of relief flooded through her as his arms closed around her.
“Where were you?!” she cried as hot tears gushed down her face. Her hands fisted his shirt tighter.
“ Ummm firewood?” he answered his tone hesitant. She sniffed and pressed herself closer to him. Strange, how he was her kidnapper, yet she was feeling safer than ever right now, in his arms. His warmth flooding through her chilled skin, making her not wanting to part.
She had no idea how long they stood there, but her tears halted and suddenly he cleared his throat. She blinked and slowly pulled away, flustered.
Seconds ticked by and both of them stood awkwardly. Anika looked everywhere but at him, too scared to meet his gaze.
He moved first, walking past her and crouched near the fire, feeding it with the new wood he bought. She slowly slummed against a nearby tree.
Suddenly he chuckled, her eyes snapped up to him “ oooo I can take care of myself!!!! Oooo leave me alone!!” it took her a second to realize that he was mocking her.
Gasping she grabbed a twig lying beside her and there at him with all the force she could muster. It bounced harmlessly to a side missing its target. He threw his head back and laughed, She reached for another twig. Even tho it irked her, she couldn’t help the smile that crept on her face as she watched him laughing.
Just as she reached for another twig, her eyes still pinned on him, her hand landed on a thorny twig. “ouch!!” she yelped. He was up then, and instantly crouched in front of her. Concern etched in his features.
“ What happened?” he asked she girted her teeth and showed him her palm. Various thorns were stuck into her palm, drawing blood profusely. He inhaled sharply as he held her palm in his hand carefully.
“ I have to take them out one by one, it’s gonna hurt a bit” he said, his voice soft. She nodded fighting hard to keep her tears at bay, god she was crying so much tonight. Her hand throbbed in pain.
He bent his head and she felt his rough beard, graze her skin lightly. In spite of the pain she was highly alert of the proximity of his lips to her skin. She winced as she felt his teeth, and suddenly she gasped in pain, as he pulled one thorn out. Her hand flew up, clutching his collar for support.
He continued to pull them out, while she held onto his collar with all her might.
A few torturous minutes later, Shivaay was wrapping her hand gently with some crushed leaves, and a cloth, that he tore from Anika’s ankle length sun dress. Sadly now the dress was knee length, and she sat by the fire, trying to tug it lower. He say beside her , as she waited for the crushed Medicinal leaves to take their toll.
“ Tell me something.” She murmured, he looked at her.
“ What do you want me to tell you?”
“ Anything, just talk to me. I don’t like it being so quiet”
He snorted “ Yes, I figured that out by myself. You wouldn’t stop screaming or talking from the time I kidnapped you”
Even tho he was mocking her, a faint smile flickered on her face. “ tell me why your doing this?” she asked softly.
She watched as his amused expression faded.
He looked away “ It’s just the way it is, not all of us are lucky enough to be born in a rich house hold and have everything we want.”
He looked back at her, something stirring in his eyes. “ Some of us have to fight each and every day just to be alive until the next day”
“ But there is always a choice, you know, for how you want to live”
He was shaking his head, even before she completed her sentence “ Choices don’t exist for people like us” he picked up a rock, rolling it gently in his palm, a far away look in his eye "There are only some things which are meant for us, only somethings which only we can do, we have to do to live, there is no choice”
Anika watched him, his eyes, smothering in the light of the flames. There was something in him that she couldn’t decipher, but nether less, she knew in an instant that he was different from the rest. That he was not what he claimed to be.
Suddenly a low vibration buzzed, Anika looked around startled, unconsciously scooting closer to him. He got up fishing out a phone from his pocket. He looked at her, and quickly pressed the phone to his ear, walking to a side.
Anika craned her neck, trying eavesdrop.
“ Yep, I got her……No, not at the cabin……Yes…..No…yes I know this is important……. Don’t worry I will be careful…. Yes tomorrow…..You will have her…” pieces of conversation drifted to her. The second he took the phone away from his ear, she scrambled back into her former position, an innocent face ready.
He cocked an eyebrow at her and sat back down. Anika fiddled with her dress, a hundred questions running through her mind.
Who had he been talking to? What were they saying? How many more of them were they? Did it mean she was going to die? What was he saying about taking her to them tomorrow? Will he be handing her over to someone else? Won’t he be the one taking care of her anymore? She stopped at the last question. Why did the question ignite a weird heaviness in her chest.
Shaking it away “ Would you at least tell me why I have been kidnapped?”
He didn’t say anything, Anika sighed "Look, it’s obvious that I will be in your company for a lot longer than I like and common!! Who would I even share this precious information with?!”
Shivaay looked at her tiredly “ You never give up do you?” Anika pursed her lips “ I have the right to know”
Shivaay shook his head, chuckling softly “ your are such a question Kumari”
“ Well excuse me for wanting to know why am kidnapped mister!” she retorted.
“ It’s not you, we want” he mumbled, “ Your father apparently has to sign a deal with my team, and the only way he is gonna sign that, is if we have you.” He looked away, almost as if he was ashamed of it.
Anika nodded her head “ so…after my dad signs the deal am free to go?”
“ yes, I will drop you myself, I promise”
Anika snorted, he looked at her surprised “ oh please! You people make promises too?! As if you would stick to them!”
He moved so fast, that she didn’t even see him. Suddenly he was hovering over her with a determined glint in his eyes. Anika gasped, stricken by their close proximity. “ You have my word.” He said empathizing each word, that her skin rippled with goosebumps. “ And Shivaay never breaks his word. Never”
She nodded, jerkily and he moved away letting her breath again. She placed a hand over her thundering heart, suddenly unsure of why her stomach felt as if a dozen butterflies took flight.
“ You should get some sleep” he said stretching his hands “ tomorrow is a day full of fun activities for you”
“ Fun?”
“ Yep we are going to have to walk a lot, thanks to you. You somehow managed to bring us into the most deepest part of the woods”. Anika scowled, rolling her eyes.
Soon the night settled on them, dark and freezing. They lay down on opposite sides of the fire. Anika slept as close as she dared, trying to get as much heat as possible. But somewhere in the middle of the night, the cold creeped in, waking her up.
She sat up shivering and looked around. The fire they had built had died, and they were plunged into darkness. The cold had settled in and it was freezing as hell. She looked around and made out the slight shadow of her kidnapper, fast asleep. Squinting she made out the shape of a leather jacket, clutched tightly to his chest.
She stood up shakily, her limbs felt like blocks of ice. If she didn’t get warm as soon as possible, chances of her limbs freezing and falling off were extremely high. She tip toed to his side. Trying to stop her teeth from chattering, and crouched beside his sleeping form.
His back was to her and soft snores lifted off him. It amazed her how he could still be sleeping in such a condition. She reached out, with trembling hands for the jacket that he hugged to his chest.
She tugged it softly. It didn’t even budge an inch. She gave it a few more tugs, but it remained stubbornly in his grip. Sighing she gave it a sharp tug, this time the jacket came free off his clutches but along with it he stirred too.
Before she could blink his arm came plummeting down on her shoulder, pulling her down on him. She gasped as the air whooshed out of her and she fell flat on his chest. His other arm came around her holding her securely to his chest. His hold was so tight that even taking a breath was hard.
But one thing had changed. Her body instantly stopped shivering as his body heat enclosed her. She shuffled, and took a deep breath. The upper part of her body was resting on his arm, while her head on his chest, barely touching the cold ground.
Even tho he had caught her by surprise, she was strangely comfortable. Her eyes darted up, from his hard chest to his jaw, specked with black rugged hair. His nose was straight and sharp. His lashes fluttered softly, casting long shadows against his high cheek bones.
A soft snore slipped from him and Anika’s eyes suddenly drew to his lips. They looked lush and smooth, crafted to perfection.
She looked away, embarrassed by her own actions. How did she end up this way? Just a few days ago she was tied in a cabin, loathing her kidnapper and now here she was cocooned in his arms, and hatred was not even in her list of feelings she was feeling now.
She snuggled closer and felt his arms tighten around her, she smiled. No one had ever held her this way before. Nor had they made her feel a whirlwind of feelings, from anger to butterflies in her stomach in seconds.
This man was something entirely different. Something new, unnerving yet pleasant. So pleasant that for a moment she let go. Let go of her fears, her doubt, of the downright insane situation her life was in, she let go of everything, and settled in deeper. Deeper into the comforting warmth that her body was craving for.
A/N: Hey lovelies,
