Mission 4: Today
------
Connor's led return to its normal light blue as he opened his eyes to retrace the path they'll go after encrypting the whole video, with a huff, he stood up from his chair before scanning to where Hank is.
"I guess we are going today?"
Hank said, popping his head from the bedroom, looking to where Connor is.
"If possible, but i would recommend that you should be resting today for the long travel ahead."
Connor said, sitting now next to Sumo who crawls to the sofa, grunting a bit as the dog relax on the soft cushion of it.
"Why?is the place away from detroit? I thought it was erm..to that douchebag's place?"
Hank said, pulling up his stocked clothes on the drawers, picking up the least decent clothes.
"No, i even thought about it was in Elijah Kamski's place, but when i mapped the place, it was over the border of Canada."
Connor said, patting Sumo carefully, as he wonder what was Hank doing with his old clothes.
Hank groans in disgust as he pick the last two clothes that he pulled on his drawers, yet he walk out with them on his arms hanging, before showing it in front of Connor.
"This might not look good on ya, my clothes are way too much unfashionable for your style."
Hank said, feeling a bit embarrassed at the clothes he will hand to Connor.
"Are you giving this to me Lieutenant?"
Connor said, taking the striped polo shirt from Hank.
"Yeah, but i was thinking of changing my mind to just hand this to you, this things are as old as the owner.."
Hank said, smiling a bit at Connor as he admire the piece of clothing.
"Thank you very much Lieutenant, i will use this with care."
Connor said, looking up to Hank, smiling to him.
"This...this isn't enough, stand there, we are going shopping."
Hank said, throwing the other shirt on the sofa, then going back to the bedroom to change.
Connor tilt his head in confusion as the older man scurry to the bedroom drawers.
"The clothing that Cyberlife provide me is fine as it is Lieutenant, why insist buying for me?"
Connor said, led turning yellow in his confusion.
"Don't be like that dumbass, that Markus got his own style, i wont be lettin ya down when it comes to that."
Hank said, as he grab his keys and bag, before closing the bedroom door shut.
"I appreciate the concern but there is really no need for me to get an item of clothing."
Connor said, standing up to follow Hank towards the door.
"Yeah yeah, i know, i know you, smartass, but think of it as a thanks, for savin' my ass all the time, for bein patient of my attitude, and for being a friend."
Hank said, patting Connor on the back in a manor of comforting him.
"Okay,Hank."
Connor said, smiling to Hank with gratitude of being a father-like figure to him.
"Come on now, no sappy moments, today we go shoppin!"
Hank said, laughing as he walk outside, breath fog because of the winter weather.
--------
As Connor and Hank look around the city, of which now operate normally, and some of the humans accept the reality of androids as beings that should be treated equally, yet some stores are still closed due to dwindling population of humans in the city.
"There is a shop nearby the town's plaza that still sells men's clothing in a much cheaper prize."
Connor said, scanning the place when they got out of the car where they parked it.
"You can pick the store where we can buy stuff."
Hank said, placing both of his hands inside of his pocket for warmth.
Connor nods to Hank, walking towards the store he was saying.
"Welcome!we have a sale for today only!"
Said the lady who is wearing a formal uniform skirt, smile plastered on her face as she bows to them, her blonde ponytail hair sways as she points the ones who is on 50% sale.
Hank took out three sets of winter clothes and some black accent set of suits, while Connor is still shuffling through sets of sweatshirts and jeans, then taking a faux dark blue jacket with a set of white polo and slacks, much like his Cyberlife uniform.
Hank walks toward to where Connor is and look at his choice of clothes.
"You really love your uniform don't ya?"
Hank said, as he saw the same set of Connor's uniform on the android's arms.
"Yes, this is the style that i mostly prefer when going out."
Connor said, taking another set of the said clothing, before walking towards the cashier where Hank just chuckled, walking also towards the cashier.
"I'll be payin for his."
Hank said, as Connor almost place payment for the items that the cashier put on the dandy paper bags.
"Understood, please confirm the payment."
The cashier said, as Hank squint closely as he type for his pass code.
"Thank you very much for shopping at our store!please come back again!" The cashier said cheerfully, bowing again to their direction as the two said thanks to her assistance.
"I could've afford those clothes Lieutenant, why bother paying for it?"
Connor said, as they walk with the paper bags on their hands.
"You are sometimes forgetful aren't ya?i already said that think of this...this shopping spree as my thanks,ya know."
Hank said, patting Connor's shoulder in assurance, knowing the android is still persistent of being foreign on the treatment.
"I'm sorry Lieutenant, and thank you for this."
Connor said, looking at Hank's direction with being grateful to him.
The duo walks still walks around the place when a certain thing caught Connor's eyes.
"Lieutenant, you can wait on the car to warm, i think i forgot to buy something."
Connor said, diverting his eyes to the thing to look at Hank, who looks confused but just nods to him.
"Just...just don't go missin' on me got it?"
Hank said, taking some of Connor's bags to get some off the tedious carrying.
Hank walks toward to the parking garage far away to where Connor is, where the android turn its heel back the store that caught his attention.
-------
Hank puts the paper bags on the back seat with ease before sitting comfortably with the warmth inside the car.
After a few more minutes of waiting on the car park, Connor is within Hank's line of sight carrying a heavy looking paper bag and some foodstuffs.
Hank opened up the car door for him as Connor carefully put the items on the back seat.
"What the hell did ya buy?"
Hank said, as Connor quickly got inside next to him.
"I have a request to you lieutenant."
Connor said, closing the car door shut before fixing himself on the seat, earning a brow raise from Hank.
"Shoot."
Hank said, waving his hand to make him continue.
"Can i drive your car today?"
Connor said, looking sincerely to Hank's direction, making the other knit his brow for his request but nonetheless, he just nods and got out of the car to make them switch positions.
"Thank you very much for your cooperation"
Connor said, smiling to Hank, making the other chuckle at actions of the android.
------
The car ride was pleasant, given that the day was still chilly yet the sun rays peak through the clouds, Hank look at the scenery, very calming to his sleepy eyes, after a minute, he drift to sleep.
"We are here Lieutenant."
Connor said, making the older woke up from his sleep as he look up to expect that he will be looking at his house, rather, the view was a heavy, yet serene sight of silence, where the snow is mixed with the rain and the dirt beneath it, each plot is adorned with five to six identical tombstone, some are made with marble, some are just as simple as with angels overlooking its tenant.
Hank quickly turn his eyes to Connor, who is already getting out of the car while carrying the stuff he brought without Hank earlier. The other got out off the car also, lump quickly forming as to why he was here.
No, he knew why he was here.
Connor knew that it would be too much for him yet he faced him, with much regret yet mixed with determination on his voice, he let out a heavy sigh before looking at Hank.
"Lets visit Cole."
