"Mum will say no, I know it, "

"Well, you never know unless you ask, anyway, remember what I said, " Natalie comforted the boy.  "Go on, knock, " Edward did as instructed and took a step back. They waited for Jane to open the door.

"Oh, Kat told me she was dropping Ed off, not that I have an issue, just surprised, that's all."

"It's alright, " Natalie giggled, "Um, Anne's having a party and Ed wants to go, I thought I should ask you first, "

"Thanks Nat, " Jane leant against the door frame.

"Please Mummy! Please!"

"Sorry Edward, but it's late and you need some sleep, " Jane said sympathetically.

"Oh! Please!"

"Sorry Ed, but not tonight, " She reinforced.

"Oh! Can Auntie Natalie come in then?" He pleaded.

"If she wants to, but you've got ten minutes, then bed, understand?"

"I'll come, " Natalie said softly, shutting the door behind her.

"Thanks Nat, you're a life-saver,"

"I help where I can, " She added softly. "Ed, help your Mum out and go get your pyjamas on,"

"Okay, Auntie Natalie..." The young boy picked up his pajamas, and huffed as he entered the bathroom.

"How are you doing Jane?" Natalie lent again the bathroom door.

"I'm alright, obviously we're tired but that's not going to change for me and Cath, and you guys get the lovely pleasure of two crying girls," Jane said the last sentence sarcastically with a lot a ratcheting in the background.

Natalie was about to answer when a call came from the bathroom.

"I can't unlock the door!"

Jane sighed and took a hair pin out of her messy bun. She tilted it sideways and turned the lock from the outside.

"Funny Story, I used that trick to lock Cath in a bathroom once, she was cleaning the shower and yeah..." Jane laughed.

"Jane, that was the other day!"  Catherine called out from the main bedroom area.

"Oh yeah..."

"Mummy, can I have your phone please?" Edward asked hopefully, staring up at Jane. Jane removed her phone from her pocket and placed it in the young boy's hands.

"5 minutes Ed, then you're going to sleep,"

"Okay, Auntie Natalie come with me!" Edward took the phone in one hand and Nat's hand in the other.

Catherine had managed to get both girls asleep in the time Jane was talking to Natalie and Edward. Jane sat on the bed to Catherine and snuggled into her, watching the TV. Unbeknownst to them, Edward and Natalie were using Jane's phone and the five minutes to take photos of the pair and then sending them to Natalie's number.

Both women ended up falling asleep with only Edward and Natalie still awake. Natalie decided Jane would rather her stay than leave Ed on his own. Just in case he needed an adult.

"I have an idea Ed," Natalie whispered, careful not to awaken anyone.

"What?"

"Shall we send some of those pictures to everyone?"

"Yes! That will be funny!"

Natalie used Jane's phone and added them to WhatsApp group chat, making sure to send the message, "It's Natalie and Edward on Jane's phone, " before she sent the photos. It didn't take long for the messages to flood Jane's phone.

Don't worry Mary x They're asleep and Jane and Catherine will probably wake up if they are needed xx

Natalie then hid the phone as she heard Catherine get up and go to the toilet.
