Chapter Three
"I am her mate," Bear growls.
"She and I were a ranged to be together since birth," Smoke seems to have no emotion, just a deep and lovable voice.
If only Bear had a voice like his Coral Rose purrs but shakes her head.
"What do you mean?" She asks.
"Your parents owe it to mine," Smoke mews, "specifically to my father."
"Why?" Bear places his tail in front of Coral Rose.
Coral rose scrunches up her nose and pushes his tail away.
"Because of what they did," Smoke looks to the ground.
"What did they do?" Coral Rose sits, setting her pink and gray tail tip on her paws.
"They condemned my mother to death," Smoke growled.
Coral Rose and Bear gasp.
"How so?" Bear widens his eyes.
"They didn't even attempt to help her when she fell sick, they let her die outside in the cold while they let my father into the den. They didn't want my mothers sickness," Smoke growls grow louder, "they took me from her as soon as I was born and showed me compassion while my mother died. My father took me away as soon as he could but made your parents promise their first born daughter to be my mate."
Coral Roses voice shakes "they-"
"Your mother was expecting you already and you were born three days later," Smoke mews, "and now I come here to take you back. In one moon the two of us will leave our families and start our own family."
"But-" Bear stutters a bit, "But she and I are happy together."
"Bear is my mate, he is all the family I need until we have out kits," Coral Rose growls, "I want you to leave. I will not return with you."
"I see that the two of you are happy," Smoke mews, "I respect that and will tell your parents I couldn't find you."
"Thank you," Coral Rose mews, "go back to sleep Bear, I'll do some hunting."
Smoke leaves the den, no goodbye.
Coral Rose thinks about the toms voice, deep and sincere. She could trust the seemingly emotionless cat.
