Coral Rose kills a mouse and while she burries it she hears a scream.
"Bear!?" Coral Rose leaves the mouse half uncovered and runs back to the den.
"Bear!" She collapses at the den entrance at the sight of her mate, his blood pooling around him.
There is no sign of his attacker but a sweet sent lingers. Coral Rose sniffs the air once more. Its roses.
"Come to me," Coral Rose hears a deep whisper.
"Smoke?" She looks around the dark den but the tom isn't in there.
"Come to me," the voice comes again.
"You did this to him!" Coral Rose wails, "Show yourself! I want to know who is responsible!"
The black tom steps into the den entrance and drops a rose at his paws.
"Smoke," Coral Rose growls.
"Come and get me," Smoke teases.
The tom turns and runs away through the forest.
Coral Rose takes one last glance at her dead mates motionless body before running after him, stepping on the Roses petals and throwing them over Bears body.
She chases Smoke through the forest, following a trail of red petals he left behind him. He plays a strange game.
"Over here now," Smoke calls from her left side.
Coral Rose races towards his voice. She stops at the base of a tree and looks around for more petals.
"You will pay for this!" Coral Rose yowls.
Smoke drops down onto Coral Roses back, "make me."
Coral Rose wriggles away from him, "If I were to come back with you what would happen?"
Smoke purrs, "so you've accepted your fate."
"No," Coral Rose mews, "but I need to know."
Smoke latches onto her scruff, "I'll tell you on the way."
Coral Rose thrashes her legs but gives up and goes limp. Her stomach churns.

"We're getting close," Smoke mews, "I will let go of you but promise you won't run away."
"If I did would you kill me?" Coral Rose asks.
"No," Smoke laughs, "I need you to suffer the consequences sweetheart."
"Don't call me that," Coral Rose snarls.
"Fine," Smoke purrs, "Rosie."
Smoke let's go of her scruff.
"I will not be coming with you," Coral Rose turns back the way they had came.
"Oh, I believe you will," Smoke mews.
"Why's that?" Coral Rose growls.
"because your parents can see you," Smoke looks up to the top of the cliff wall where two cats stand, perched on the edge looking down.
Coral Rose sighs, "take me to them."
