The following day at Urie's café, Pete is busy with a customer when Joe decides it's a good idea to slide around behind the counter in his socks. The floors were freshly waxed and him and Tyler would always do such things, even when the place was full of people. The two had absolutely no shame.

Once Pete hands the elderly woman her coffee and blueberry muffin, she smiles and thanks him before leaving. Pete took that moment to turn around and glare at Joe, who nearly ran into Tyler because he wasn't watching where he was sliding. The curly haired man glances at Pete then makes it seem like he wasn't just having the time of his life while Pete had to take orders.

Then suddenly Tyler comes sliding up beside Pete saying, "That's how I slide into Josh's DM's." then laughs at his own words. Pete and Joe have no idea who he's referring to and give him a questioning look. Tyler soon takes notice to them, then begins to explain. "Oh, Josh is the guy that stole my cab yesterday."

Pete grinned and got a little excited while Joe was still confused. "Did he text you last night?"

Tyler nodded, a small smile graced his lips as he thought about the boy he met. "Better; he called. We're going out to lunch today."

"Ooh, do I hear wedding bells?" Pete held his hand up to his ear and pretended he could hear bells chiming in the distance. Then the actual bell on the door rang as someone came in.

"No, I'm pretty sure that's a customer." Tyler laughed before sliding his way into the back room, almost losing his balance and falling as he entered. Pete mutters a swear before turning around and addressing the customer.

"Hi, what can I get for you, sir?" Pete asked politely, an overused fake smile on his face as he waited for the man with the bright red mohawk to speak.

"I'm actually looking for Tyler." He says, sticking a hand into the pocket of his jeans and smiling sweetly. He's cute, Pete thought before he realized that the man before him had asked for Tyler.

"Oh, you must be Josh, the little shit who stole Ty's cab."

Josh actually laughs, blushing a bit and rubbing at the back of his neck with his free hand. "Yeah, that's me."

Joe, who had been watching the whole interaction, went and retrieved his coworker from the back room. Both of them slid behind Pete and Tyler actually did slip and fall this time upon seeing who was standing on the other side of the counter. From the floor, he asked, "Josh?"

Leaning over the glass display of baked goods, Josh smiles down at the boy lying on the slick, shiny floor. "Hi, Tyler." He smiles.

Things were beginning to speed up a bit at the café. The lunch rush had flooded in the second Tyler had left with Josh during his break, so Joe had to help Pete at the counter while Hayley took the orders from the ones sitting in tables. She had asked earlier why Joe refused to put his shoes back on and he simply responded by sliding in a circle around her, she laughed and joined him in sliding around the floor but had to put her shoes back on as she waited tables.

The coffee machines were in constant use and Pete eventually had to leave Joe alone at the counter so he could prepare the beverages. After several minutes, things slowed down once again. More people took their things to go and those who had finished at the tables paid and quietly left. Hayley and Pete cleaned the tables, Joe collected the plates, and Brendon decided to pitch in and wipe down the counter.

The café was usually pretty dead after lunch, but it was still early noon. While their lunch rush was pretty much over, other places were still packed to the ceiling. It was another thing Pete liked about working here.

An annoying ding came from the bell above the door that Pete really wished he could smash with a sledgehammer, light footsteps following soon after. Pete looks up from where he's wiping the wooden surface of a table and catches sight of a guy wearing a 504 Plan hat, the bill casting a shadow over his eyes, and way too many layers for the temperature outside. Pete is wearing shorts for fuck's sake, it was definitely too hot for layers.

Joe picks up the last plate and puts it into the dish bin, carrying it behind the counter and setting it down on the cart closest to the kitchen. The guy in all the clothes takes a seat at a table in the corner of the café, slouching in his seat a little as he took out his phone and waited for someone to take his order. Pete didn't want to be the one to do it honestly, and neither did Hayley, so they played rock, paper, scissors for it. Pete did paper and Hayley did scissors, making a cutting motion with her fingers.

"Dammit." Pete muttered before picking up a notepad and walking over, ignoring Hayley's laughter behind him.

He tries not to seem like he's miserable and puts a smile on his face, taking the pen out of the notepad's rings and clicking it once. "Hello, sir. What can I get for you?"

The dude in the chair locks his phone's screen then places it on the table before looking up at Pete, sitting up straight in his seat. When his eyes finally fall on the other man's face, they widen. The guy must think he's seeing things because he takes a hand and tips the bill of his hat up until the shadow over his face disappears. His irises are an appealing mix of colors and Pete finds himself staring at the man in the same way, mouth slightly ajar in awe.

Joe takes that moment to slide over and put an arm around Pete's shoulders as he greeted the man at the table. "Patrick! Glad you could make it."

"H-Hey, Joe." Patrick mumbles in response, unable to take his eyes off of Pete. Joe makes a face at Patrick's lack in enthusiasm.

"I see you've met Pete." Joe smiles knowingly. "Pete, this is Patrick."

"This is- you're Pete?" Patrick gets to his feet, the chair scraping against the floor as he practically jumped up.

Pete nodded, his heart beating quickly from both nerves and excitement. Patrick puts his hand out for Pete, who looks at it as if it might kill him, before shaking it. "It's uh... nice to meet you."

This makes Patrick smile for some reason, showing off his teeth and seeming to relax a bit. "You too, Pete. I, um... I like your outfit, by the way."

And those very words calmed Pete's speeding heart rate, allowing a genuine smile to spread across his glossed lips. Joe seemed to be right about his friend. "Thank you, Patrick."

"Dearly beloved," Joe began, his hands opened like a book and pretending to read a bible. "We are gathered here today-"

"Shutup, Joe." Both Pete and Patrick said in unison, their cheeks flushing red, not realizing their hands were still connected from the handshake.
