78: Feeling Salty- STOP STEALING.
A quick holla at my friend a-dora-ble since this type of thing seems to be up her alley. Be proud, momma Dora. Your salty babies are spreading the salt.
I made my own blog in November of last year, and then I had also joined a writing blog that my online friends made last year too. I was more than happy to help and I love listing tips to help other people.
So the salt doesn't come in with friends creating drama or anything like that. No- my friends are just fine. Our online squad is closer than peas in a pod.
Where the salt comes in is with certain readers.
Please allow me to explain:
I, personally, do not like my posts fully reblogged. I'm okay if you post a small excerpt of my post without permission or previously contacting me before (then give the link to my blog where you can finish it). I'm usually even okay if you contact me beforehand and ask if it is okay to completely reblog my posts.
But I am NOT CHILL with the idea of fully reblogging someone's posts on your own site without permission. When you do this, you take what you think to be the best of someone's work and you distribute it under your own banner. Now someone can find the full post somewhere else, be content with that one post they read, then go about their day- you're not bringing online traffic to the content creator. You're taking it away.
If you post a small excerpt then leave a link where you can finish it, you're whetting the readers appetites and they will be inclined to check out the original creator. So now everyone benefits whereas in the previous ways they didn't.
Now let me blow off some steam here and tell you why I'm seriously MIFFED.
This one company (which I won't share the name as of right now) has plenty of followers on their blog. I come to find out that they had reblogged my post completely without permission, and I got annoyed. I decided not to leave a rude comment, and instead opted for making a blog post about Blogging Rights & Common Courtesy- thinking along the lines that "Since they reblogged one of my posts, they're probably following us and get the hint when they read this."
WAHHHHHHHHH. Game show buzzer. Completely wrong.
About an hour ago, the same people reblogged an entire post of mine without contacting us before hand once again.
So guess what kind of mood I'm in.
"So you're only okay with people reblogging your full posts with permission, but without permission, you suddenly get a bug up your rear end? Doesn't that seem a bit controlling?" you may ask.
Yes. Yes it is. And I'm this way because I don't like people reaping the rewards for my hard work and time.
I also like keeping tabs on where my work is posted so that if something ever goes wrong, I know who to sic my followers on. <333
So, do you guys think I have every right to be angry or do you think I need a chill pill? Share your salty thoughts below- I really want to hear your opinions on the entire thing.
Also, if you want to check out my personal blog and my friends' blog, here's what to type in to find them.
