People say "Don't judge a book by its cover." But why do they judge music by its language?

>>>Little rant that might or might not trigger you<<<

I ask that all the time! When someone asks me what type of music I like, I respond to them by saying K-pop and J-pop. Sometimes their response is "Ew. You like that stuff?" and/or
"Why do you listen to it if you can't understand it?"

Yes, I like that stuff and yes, I don't understand most of the lyrics but music is music. Music freaking universal. It transcends language and doesn't have any barriers. It doesn't matter what language it is. Although I might not understand it, I feel some type of way when I listen to it. They touch me even though I have no idea what they're saying most of the time. Maybe it's their voice or the instruments that create such master piece...I don't know. All I know is when I'm listening to it, I feel different kinds of emotions. Most of the time I can feel the emotion the song is trying to convey without knowing the language. That's the power of music. Music is not only made up of English songs. It's in different languages and has different styles and genres, as well. Despite the differences, music will still be music. The only difference is that if you're open minded enough to listen to music in another language without judging it. It's like judging a person by their appearance and/or judging people for not speaking the same language as you.

To answer the question "Why do you listen to it if you can't understand it?"
TRANSLATIONS EXIST FOR A REASON.

Why breathe if you're gonna die anyway??
