10 - Day Trip

Another two weeks passed with Sam and Gabe seeing each other constantly. Sam would use quotes to talk more often each time, becoming more comfortable with talking each time.

Sam came over to Gabe's apartment a few more times and saw Charlie there a few times too. Kevin came with him once so the four of them could hang out.

Gabriel was slowly coming to realize that what started as him simply thinking this guy was hot turned was turning into something a hell of a lot deeper and there was no way he could stop it now.

Sam had already known that from the start, hence his decision to talk to Gabriel. And now he was trying to find some way to form actual words that weren't a quote. He'd tried, opened his mouth to speak, but hadn't been able to. If Gabe noticed he didn't say anything about it.

It was a Saturday morning now, and Sam didn't have class. But he wanted to do something fun.

He sent a quick text over to Gabriel telling him to wake his lazy ass up because they were going out and then started walking over there with his lack of a car.

He got to the apartment block and walked straight into Gabe's apartment, which either meant Gabe left it unlocked for him or forgot to lock it in the first place.

"Heya Sammy," Gabe said from the kitchen as Sam walked in. He had a mug of coffee and looked liked he'd just gotten up. "What's up? Where are we going?" Sam just smiled. "Is it somewhere cool? Have I been there before?"

Sam smirked for a moment, already having a quote in mind for when Gabe asked. "Think you've seen it all? Think again." Sam saw Gabe's eyes light up as he recognized the quote. "Outside those doors, we might see anything. We could find new worlds, terrifying monsters, impossible things. And if you come with me...nothing will ever be the same again."

"I have very high expectations now, are you going to take me to your hidden Tardis?" Gabe asked, smiling brightly. Sam chuckled. "Really though, where are we going?"

Sam shrugged, before typing out on his phone, Thought a day trip to the city nearby would be fun. We can do literally anything there.

"That sounds awesome," Gabe said, smiling. "How many people are we going to terrorise?"

All of them, Sam typed out to which Gabe just laughed.

They decided to just take a bus up there, because a car would be too hard to park in the city. (I don't even know what city but it's probs gonna be a lot like Melbourne)

Gabe glanced over at Sam as they sat in the bus, noticing that he went completely silent, not even laughing or anything, with all the people around. He shifted over slightly in the seat and leaned his head on Sam's shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. Sam gave him a thankful one in return.

They got to the nameless city and then quickly decided where to go first. There was a sort of festival carnival thing going on, which Gabriel didn't know but Sam had done some research.

Sam led Gabe through the streets, holding his hand, without telling him where they were going. Gabe just followed along happily, looking around at all the city things they never got to see.

"Hey Samsquatch where are we—" Gabe stopped when he saw the festival set up. "You knew about this." Sam gave him a sheepish smile. "This is awesome."

So it was one of the types of festivals set up outside with heaps and heaps of stalls, a few rides, and a stage with music constantly playing.

Gabe ran off into the crowd, dragging Sam behind him. Because really, they were both just kids at heart.

They explored their way slowly throughout all the stalls, finding fun little things here and there. Gabe started doing the thing where he talks heaps to make up for Sam's silence, and Sam just watched him with a fond smile.

"What even is this?" Gabe asked, holding up some bundle of material in one of the stalls. "Like actually what is it? Sam?" Sam shrugged, trying not to laugh at Gabe's expression. The person running the stall was giving him a sour look, so Sam grabbed Gabe's hand and pulled him off.

"I'm so confused," Gabe said. "It was just like someone put a bunch of material into a ball. What was the point?" Sam just shrugged again, before pulling Gabe in the direction of the food stalls. They'd been holding hands almost the entire time as not to get lost in the crowd at the festival.

Sam took Gabe to one of the candy places because he knew Gabe well, and it was worth it to see that spark of happiness in Gabe's eyes. With how much candy they bought there, Sam could've sworn Gabriel should be sick.

At some point Gabe had fairy floss, and Sam just started stealing it.

"What happened to you and your moose food?" Gabe asked as Sam stole more. Sam shrugged with an almost innocent but not quite smile. Gabe couldn't help but smile back, bumping his shoulder against Sam's as they walked.

But you know, they were out at a public place, not everyone is accepting.

"Stupid fags," someone yelled at them as they walked past. Gabe immediately started to turn to yell back, but Sam stopped him and just pulled him in the opposite direction.

"What but Sam I need to kill that guy," Gabe whined.

"Where I'm going, if anybody yells at me I can just shoot them," Sam growled quietly. He did want to yell at the guy but what's the point in trying when you can't talk?

"You better damn be leading my somewhere with guns then Cap," Gabe muttered. Sam looked around quickly before smirking slightly and leading Gabe in a certain direction. "Oh my god there's lazer tag. Are we going to play lazer tag with a bunch of kids?"

I don't they'd let us, Sam typed on his phone that he pulled from his pocket.

Gabe pouted. "Great coincidental placing though." Sam just smiled.

They walked past the lazer tag area where a bunch of teenagers were shooting each other and laughing.

"Reminds me of summer," Gabe said. "Don't know why."

"Dude wrong book."

Gabe turned around to see Lucifer standing there. "Luci what the hell?"

"I tried to stop him," Michael said, running up beside Luci, out of breath. "I really did. But he heard the opportunity and just..."

"It's okay Mike," Gabe said. "We all know you try." Michael just nodded, trying to catch his breath. Luci was just smirking. "So what are you guys doing here?"

"Random festival thing and you expect us not to go and scare people?" Luci says. "Do you even know us?"

"I'd expect that from you, not Michael."

Sam nudged Gabe slightly, and looked over at Michael and Lucifer before looking back at Gabe.

"Oh right," Gabe said. "Sam, this is my brother Lucifer and his boyfriend Michael. Guys this is Sam."

"Told you it would happen coz satan shipped it," Michael said. Gabe just bitch faced him.

"Gabe you should know that all my ships become canon," Luci said. "I mean have you even read A Summer Dream?"

"Did you actually just..." Michael said slowly. "Did you...that wasn't even a reference, you literally said the name...oh my god why do I still put up with this..."

Sam was just watching the two with a look of complete and utter confusion.

"Don't question it Samantha," Gabe said.

"Aww they're using pet names," Luci said. "Mikey my ship is being cute." Michael was just glaring at him now.

"They're insane," Gabe whispered to Sam. Sam nodded in agreement.

"I'm going to take him away before he hurts the wall more," Michael said. "Was nice meeting you Sam." Sam nodded politely to him. "Gabe tell Charlie we said hi." Gabriel nodded. "Bye guys." And with that he dragged Lucifer and the fourth wall breaking away.

"Well that happened," Gabe said. "Well, you just met the first of my weird family."

When do I get to meet Castiel and set him up with Dean? Sam typed onto his phone. Gabe just glared as he read it and Sam laughed.

They went over to the rides section of the carnival/festival/author doesn't even know anymore, and Sam looked over at one of the ridiculous ones and then back at Gabe.

"Really?" Gabe asked. "You really...that's ridiculous, how is that even safe? You're insane to even want to go on that."

Sam smirked. "I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high functioning sociopath. Do your research."

Gabe opened his mouth to reply then closed it again and looked at Sam with suspicious eyes. "You were waiting to say that. Oh you totally set me up for that." Sam tried to do an innocent expression but just ended up laughing. Gabe just shook his head with a smile.

After that they ventured back into the city. It was sometime in the afternoon now, so they still had a few hours in the day.

Gabe noticed how Sam's gaze lingered on the museum and the art gallery (again, the author only knows Melbourne) and smiled softly.

"You're a nerd, you know that right?" Gabe said, smiling up at Sam. Sam gave him a sheepish smile in return. "Come on, let's go the fancy nerd places." Sam's eyes lit up, and he dragged Gabe into the museum first.

It was pretty interesting if you liked that sort of thing. Sam did, Gabe slightly less so. He was finding more interest in the way Sam would look as he got excited over all this stuff.

Sam was winding through people at some point, Gabe trying to follow closely behind. Then Sam stopped suddenly as he saw something of interest and Gabe just ran into the back of him.

Gabe gave him a sheepish smile as Sam raised an eyebrow at him.

"Stop following me, I'm not your mother," Sam said jokingly, smiling.

"Fine then Ten," Gabe said, turning to walk away. Sam made a protesting sound and grabbed Gabe's hand, pulling him back. Gabe chuckled and the two continued around the place.

They went to the art gallery next. Gabe had to admit the paintings were cool, seeing as he had done a course in art in college.

"I could do better," Gabe muttered as Sam paused at one of the paintings. Sam looked at Gabe and then back at the painting. Coz it was a really good painting. Sam looked at Gabe again, his eyes a bit wider. "Hey I was pretty good at painting kiddo."

Sure you were, Sam typed out.

"Hey I was"

Prove it.

"Oh you jerk. Fine. I'll paint something for you. Then we'll see who's better, me or...whoever the hell painted this."

Sam just laughed lightly.

After they left the art gallery, it was getting late. They went to a fast food restaurant for dinner, Gabe ordering sugar filled stuff while Sam got healthy food. By the time they got out it was dark.

And now, for the sake of the author only really knowing the city of Melbourne, there's gonna be a building like Eureka. It's a skyscraper that anyone is allowed on the top floor of. But let's not call it Eureka coz they're not in Melbourne.

Sam nudged Gabe as they walked along the street hand in hand, and pointed up at the skyscraper.

"Dude yes, I've always wanted to go up there," Gabe said, and they started walking over there.

They went inside the building and then up the endless amounts of floors by the elevator. The floor open to the public had full glass walls on every edge and you could walk around to see every side of the city.

The two of them walked over to the window, looking at the city far below them. The buildings all had lights on in the night, just dots of light in the distance.

"This is pretty damn cool," Gabe said. "Everything's so small..." Sam smiled, typing something out on his phone and passing it to Gabe.

So are you.

"You cruel person. Resorting to short people jokes. How dare you?"

Sam just started laughing and Gabe couldn't help but smile.

"Really though Sammy, thanks for today," Gabe said. "Had the time of my life. And yes I am setting you up for a Doctor Who quote right there."

Sam chuckled. "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff."

Gabe was smiling brightly at Sam, that little spark shining in his eyes. Sam smiled at it, getting a warm feeling inside from how Gabe was looking at him. So he kept talking.

"Some people live more in twenty years than others do in eighty. It's not the time that matters, it's the person," Sam said, another Doctor Who quote. Gabriel was still smiling brightly. The two were facing each other directly now, standing close together.

"You know I think I may be in love with your voice," Gabe said softly, still smiling with that spark in his eyes. Sam smiled, and that damn look Gabe was giving him, he couldn't help it. He stepped forward and rested his hands on Gabe's hips, leaning down slightly. But didn't close the gap all the way.

"Kiss me," he said. Gabe gave him a look of surprise. "Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable."

"Even now with the quotes," Gabe said, smiling. Then closed the gap between them to press his lips to Sam's. He moved his arms up around Sam's neck and may have had to stand on his toes because of the height difference.

They pulled back after a moment, foreheads touching. If Sam could say something now would be a great time to...but he couldn't.

Gabe just smiled softly before pulling Sam back into another kiss. Someone coughed awkwardly to the side, so Sam pulled away reluctantly.

"Fine," Gabe said, pouting. "Time to go home?" Sam nodded.

The two of them caught a bus back to Gabe's house. They were still holding the hands the entire time, and every now and then would steal a kiss.

They got to Gabe's apartment door, but seeing as it was late they both kinda assumed Sam would be going back to his dorm.

Gabe pulled Sam into another lingering kiss. When they pulled away Sam frowned at him.

"I don't wanna go," he said softly.

"Oh my god feels," Gabe said. "Dude Tennant. Ow." Sam laughed lightly. Gabe smiled and then his expression softened. "If you don't want to...then don't. Stay?"

Sam smiled and nodded, and the two of them walked into Gabe's apartment. They didn't do anything, I mean they only just kissed. But yes Sam stayed the night there.
