when you're a stranger to yourself

even after all this time
i still don't feel like i know you,
he said in the end.

i bared my body and soul to him,
stripped every layer of my being
away to reveal the girl underneath.

but i do not know who lives underneath
these white sundresses and white bones.

i felt almost like myself when i was with him.
